February 11 2026It was time for her favourite class. Yexian headed to the classroom early and sat in the first row, closer to the professor. She took out her book, notebook and pencil case. She wrote the day and date and waited for the professor to start. The weather was cold, and the sun wasn’t visible due to dark clouds covering the sky. Yexian adored this weather. She hoped it would rain today. Adjusting her furry cloak, she stared at the sky painted with different shades of white and grey clouds, admiring it while waiting for the professor to start.
A while later, all students walked in and the professor started the lesson. Yexian turned her focus back to the professor and listened attentively while taking notes of important points. Since she was of the neat type, her notes were simple, yet elegant. She wouldn’t use different colours and shades. When she was younger, she always practised Chinese calligraphy; therefore, her handwriting was flawless and consistent. After a few questions asked by the professor, Yexian’s favourite part came - potion making. The students got up and gathered with their friends around the work stations in groups of 4. Yexian stood up and walked over to a work station, waiting for the professor to give out the instructions. She was internally hoping there wouldn't be enough students so she could work by herself. It happened to her before, she had to practise a potion alone as there weren’t many students; she really loved that day, especially since it was raining too.
However, a while later, a girl wearing Gryffindor robes stood beside her. She had wavy dark brown hair and dark eyes. Her skin was dark, with no beauty or birthmarks. Yexian was irritated “Who is she?” She thought while eyeing the girl up and down. She really hated working with other students. “I’ve never seen her before.. I hope she isn't a troublemaker..” she sighed. The girl looked very simple, which raised her hopes. Yexian adjusted herself and focused her attention on her notes.

It was a cold day with clouds covering the soft sunlight. Natasha peeked through an open window as a gust of wind made her quickly retreat. It was time for Potions class! Potions was in the dungeons though she rarely went there. Potions was not her favourite subject, nor was she much good at it.
Today, the professor talked about making a rather peculiar potion. One that could turn someone breath fire. She didn't know how that would be useful in real life, besides looking cool. But it looked fun.
The professor told everyone to get into groups. She went over to this girl she didn't know. She had seen her a couple of times but had never met her. It was kind of hard to not see every Gryffindor at one point.
She went up to the girl. She had short, straight black hair and blue grey eyes. She looked nice enough. Natasha took a glance at her notes to find some very beautiful handwriting. Her handwriting was very elegant but simple and understandable, unlike some people’s cursive.
She herself didn’t have very good handwriting, but it was good enough.
“Hi! I’m Natasha. Would you like to be partners?” I said with a smile.

February 11 2026Yexian was arranging her notes and trying to avoid the girl as best as she could, when she suddenly heard a voice from the other girl. “Hi! I’m Natasha. Would you like to be partners?” Yexian looked up and noticed the girl smiling while asking. She really didn’t know how to answer; whenever someone asks a question like that, she wished she could just say no, but it was kind of hard. She wished she could shake her head as a no but she didn’t know the girl enough to figure out whether she’ll make trouble or attract attention from it or not. All she could do was nod slightly and say with a low voice “Mhm..” then she muttered “I don’t mind..” then with an even lower voice, barely audible “..as long as you don’t make any mess…”
She moved a bit, allowing some space for the girl to stand behind the cauldron. While adjusting her heavy black cloak, the professor started explaining the steps and giving out instructions. Yexian wrote all the instructions and steps in her notebook neatly “What was her name again..? Natasha?” Yexian thought as she put her quill back on the table and stood properly. She looked at the girl and opened her mouth to talk but no words came out. She wanted to know who will be doing the potion and who will get the ingredients. “Judging by her messy notes, she probably doesn’t like Potions and is bad at it.. maybe I should let her do the potion while I get her the ingredients..” she thought to herself.
Yexian walked to the other side of the workstations, picked a pair of gloves from her bag and wore them. She poured 10 fluid ounce of water and gave it to the girl in front of her. “This is the first ingredient” she said while moving on to the next ingredient. Since Yexian already knows too much about potions and potion brewing, she can identify each ingredient without any help, so she picked a tweezer from the equipment shelves and picked the second ingredient, Bat Spleens. She chopped 3 Bat Spleens and put them in a dish, and gave it to the other Gryffindor “That’s the second ingredient” she murmured.
