"Are you sure you're ready?" Rosalyn's mum asked, hands on her daughter's shoulders. It was time, Rosalyn was about to leave to go shopping for her school supplies. She was going alone, as her parents both had work and no offense, she wanted to figure out this world herself. When she was told that she was a witch, magical, and that she wasn't just weird and messed up, she knew that her entire life was about to change.
And oh boy did it change, considering she was leaving for school that day. This would be the last time she could see her parents until the winter, when she was coming back for the holidays. That was such a long time away though, and she didn't know how she could wait that long. But, she had to be brave, so she put on a smile and looked up at her mum. She was still quite short, so she had to look up to almost everyone.
"Yes, I am ready. Don't worry, I'll be fine! And before you ask, yes. I'll be safe, I'll make good choices, I won't drink, smoke, snog anyone, or do anything else with anyone else that would be unsafe for my mind, body, or soul!" she said, taking care of all of the possible concerns her parents could have.
"Alright, Thorny. Make sure to write to us, okay?" her dad asked, using the nickname he'd given her so many years ago, after she'd pricked herself on the flower of her namesake.
"Of course I will! Not promising every day, but I'll be sure to write you guys a lot. When I'm not learning about magic, that is!" she said, still in disbelief about that fact. But she was going to a place where she would be around other people with the same gift, and she wouldn't have to hide it or think that she was weird for it. She would get to nurture It and learn how to use it right, and she was so excited for that.
After one last hug goodbye, she picked up her bag and walked out of the door. She knew that her life was about to change forever, and she couldn't wait for that fact. She trusted that her parents would both be okay, but...
"Wait! Take care of Murphy, don't let him be lonely! And my plants! Bye again!" she said, walking out of the door for the second time.
Now that everything was taken care of, she knew that everything would be fine. All she had to do was get on that train and she would be off to a new life full of fun!
