Jada sauntered down towards the shop she knew awaited her. After months of pleading and begging, her parents had finally given in and allowed her to get a pet. Now that she boarded at Hogwarts, she'd argued, they wouldn't have to worry about it, they would barely even remember. She turned back to where her mother followed, Hurry up already! she called out gleefully.
She cautiously pushed open the worn handle to the shop, her eyes immediately darting to the plethora of pets available. Many were in small enclosures or cages, depending on what they were, but others were free to roam the shop as they liked.
Cats, Owls... Toads even! How could she ever choose only one. She knew for a fact that she wanted someone with whom she could play or cuddle. That eliminated the toads. Pygmy Puffs were not really her thing, there was something she just didn't like about them, and rats, though they weren't that all bad, didn't have a high chance of surviving with all the cats around the school. It was between cats and owls then.
She made her way over to where the owls hung from their cages. They were beautiful, their wings pristine and their eyes gleaming. They would be useful as well, being able to deliver her letters for her. She was about to ask the price of a small brown owl when something furry brushed against her leg.
A cat! The cat pressed itself against her leg, not leaving her side even when called over by the storekeeper. Jada gently lifted her up, careful not to get scratched by the sharp claws. Aren't you something... she breathed, admiring it. It was perfect. Mum! she called out once again, I want this one, I'm sure.
The two of them proceeded to the counter to pay and made their way out, Jada beaming with happiness at her own new pet!
