Walking through walls...
Krishnavi had travelled multiple times by train, to visit her cousins. She and her family were frequent visitors of King's Cross Station.
And never, EVER had she heard of platform 9 3/4.
When she had received the letter, she and her dad were puzzled. "Do you know where this platform is?" her dad asked her mom, who was a witch. Her mom just smiled.
Now that Krishnavi was here, she was staring blankly between the platforms 9 and 10. There was a pillar. Other than the usual hustle and bustle of people moving this way and that, there was only one, single pillar. It stood there as if mocking her, and Krishnavi suddenly felt afraid that she would never reach Hogwarts, and spend her whole life miserable,lonely,scared...
She shook herself awake. What a ridiculous thought, she scolded herself. Mom will know what to do. She looked up at her mother. "Where is this 93/4?", she demanded. Her mother hesitated, and replied, "You have to walk through the pillar." Krishnavi thought she hadn't heard her mother right. There's a lot of activity and noise around us, she thought. Of course I'm not going to walk into the pillar. How silly of me to think of that.
She repeated her question. Her mother repeated the answer.
Now Krishnavi was sure her mother had gone bonkers. Why in the whole of London would she walk through a flipping wall? A voice from the back of her head replied, why not?
She glanced up at her mother. Her mother gave a slight nod. Taking a deep breath, tightening her grip around her trolley handle, Krishnavi ran headfirst into the pillar. At least my mother will have to pay the hospital bills, was the last thing she thought of before she arrived at...
... Platform 9 3/4! Her eyes went wide, taking in her surroundings. Hundreds of young children holding trolleys were bidding farewell to their family and friends. The Hogwarts Express, with its huge deep red and weathered figure, awoke a sense of excitement and nervousness in Krishnavi. She turned back at her mother and, in a shaky but strong voice, she said, " I will miss you, Papa, and my brothers a lot. Make sure you write to me!" Her mother replied, "Of course I'll write you letters! Your brothers back at home are going to miss you a lot! Love you"'Love you too!", Krishnavi said, as her mother kissed her on her forehead. She ran to the train, and, just before boarding, she looked back to her mom waving her hands like a maniac. Krishnavi returned the gesture with the same amount of spirit and finally boarded the train. It was the start of a new adventure.
