Flame Sat down at the Gryffindor table with her stomach screaming at her for food. She had woken up ten minutes ago and was hungry but had decided to take a shower first because she felt like it. She chose some chocolate chip pancakes off the menu along with a glass of chocolate milk and settled down to eat. She had pretty much devoured her entire plate of food in the first minute and a half and had to order another one.
She had skipped out on lunch yesterday because she had been trying to pull off one of her best pranks yet! It had worked by the way but now Flames stomach was getting her back. Someone sat down beside her and Flame turned to introduce herself. The girl had long brown hair just like Flame. She tried to remember the girls name. She knew that the girl was in her year and that her name started with N. Nancy maybe? Flame was horrible with names. She tapped the girl lightly on her shoulder and when she turned she introduced herself. “Hi! My name is Flame! Want to be friends?” she waited for the girls response. Was I to straight forward?

Natasha had just sat down at the table in the great hall, when a girl tapped her on the shoulder. She recognized her from somewhere. Probably saw her in the common room. She remembered that her name had something to do with fire. What was her name?
“Hi! My name is Flame! Want to be friends?” the girl said.
Well, that was quick. But Natasha did want to make friends. So, she should say yes. And her name was flame, which was fire related, so she had been right.
"Urm, hi! The name's Natasha. Sure, we can be friends."
A moment of awkward silence followed. She wasn't really sure what to say, and neither did Flame apparently. She filled it in with a question.
"So, I'm a half-blood. What about you?"
She wasn't exactly sure why she had asked that question, but it filled the silence. Her dad was a muggle, and her mum was a witch. She wondered where the girl was from. She herself was from Ireland, though she was English in origin. She only lived along the Irish Coast for a taste of the sea. That was also the reason she didn't have an irish accent but an English one.

"Urm, hi! The name's Natasha. Sure, we can be friends." The girl Flame had tapped said. Flame completely forgot to respond and the girl looked a little uncomfortable before saying "So, I'm a half-blood. What about you?" Flame smiled a fellow Half blood! “I am also a half blood! My Mom is a wizard and my father is a muggle!” she told Natasha.
“Sometimes it is hard though because I had to have wizard and muggle friends separately. For example we lived in the wizard world because my dad has known about us being wizards forever. And My best friend was also a half blood but we went to a wizard school!” Flame realized that she had been talking a lot about herself and hadn’t been letting her new friend talk. “Do you like soccer ?” Flame asked her “Because Soccer is my favourite sport and I am starting a new club here! Although I’m pretty sure they call it Football here.”
“At my old school for wizard kids I taught them all to play it and that was our sport!” Shut up Flame! She thought to herself.Natasha doesn’t want here about your old school and you asked her a question so let her answer it!

I never forgot that guy. They said gender equality is a thing now but sometimes it's not. Boys may be better at the more physical things, but girls were always smarter. She had personally never met a boy smarter than her.
"Did you live in America before? 'Cause you were calling it soccer?"
She wondered why else Flame would call it soccer. She had heard from her dad that americans made renamed football to soccer, then made a sport called football that doesn't even use your feet! In fact, the ball wasn't even a proper ball! It was some oval thing.
Americans... She would never understand them.

He said that I would probably go off crying if he ball hit my head” Flame almost choked on her food when she heard that. Soccer? A boy sport? As if!!! She had played soccer against boys before and absolutely destroyed them! She tried to keep her face in line as she continued to listen to Natasha.
"Did you live in America before? 'Cause you were calling it soccer?" Flame waited till Natasha was done speaking before she exploded. “FIRST OF ALL SOCCER IS NOT A BOY SPORT!!!” some people at other tables have her weird looks but the Gryffindor’s didn’t even flinch. They were used to Flame after a couple days and knew that she could have very big opinions. “I will kick the butt of whoever told you that!” Flame took a couple of deep breaths.
“As for if I lived in America before It is kinda complicated because I didn’t live in U.S. but I lived next to it in a country called Canada.” Flame wondered if she should say more so she did. “ A couple of years ago my family and best friends family moved here to England. I am still getting used to calling it Foot ball because back where I came from Football was a game with your hands. I can explain it to you if you want.

Flame felt frustrated and then felt bad for being frustrated. After all it wasn’t Natasha’s fault that she didn’t understand how stuff like this worked in North America. Flame got ready for her big rant by taking a deep breath and then she started talking.
“It’s called Soccer in north America instead of Football because it used to be called association football because the Americans wanted to differentiate from other countries Football. But then it was too long so they shortened it to assoc. After that they ended up shortening it again by calling it soc. The term association football is actually British slang. Anyway they eventually added an er to the Sox and You probably get the idea from there.”
Flame knew that she had just made an info dump onto Natasha and hoped that Natasha had actually understood all of what she had just said. “Sorry! I know that was a bit of an information dump!” she apologized to Natasha. “I don’t know much about how American football got it’s name. The only reason I now about how Soccer is called Soccer instead of Football in North America.” Flame really hoped that Natasha didn’t think she was weird.
“Anyway enough about me! What are your interests?”

"Well, I love cats and reading. I can play a fair bit of chess too."
She mostly read in her spare time. But she found chess a fun game. It was a tactical game of minds and war. It was so interesting! All the different possibilities and the styles of playing. She was more of an aggressive player but defended a lot when under pressure.
It all really mattered on how she judged the player before they played. If she had played with them before then she knew exactly what style to play. But if she had never played with them before it was a bit harder. So chess was also a bit poker. You got to choose your style and know it.
It also takes a good amount of confidence to keep playing when you're losing and to not panic.
"I also write a lot."
She had written a lot of short chapter books before she came here. Not that she didn't still write but didn't find much time what with all the homework and everything.
"I love reading mystery, horror and fantasy. What about you?"
She also loved writing fantasy and fiction.
"Well, I love cats and reading. I can play a fair bit of chess too."

I prefer reading fiction cause I don’t find historical books that interesting.” Flame decided that she would ask Natasha more about herself and try to keep the talking to a minimum in her half.
“What’s your favourite subject in school right now? Mine is Potions because I have gotten all O’s on my assignments!” Then Flame realized that she was bragging. “Sorry! I swear I am not trying to brag!” She really hoped Natasha believe her cause she knew that a lot of people don’t like friends who brag. “Do you like to write? I am currently working on 3 books and no one has read them yet! I want to show them to someone at some point maybe that could be you?”
Flame mentally slapped herself when she realized she was bragging again. “Sorry! Not trying to brag again! I am not doing it on purpose I swear!” Flames voice showed a hint of concern or worry. “Oh you play chess? I’m not that good but maybe we could play sometime?”
