History/Background Story: The daughter of a pure-blood witch and a Muggle-born wizard, May Lee had nothing short of an interesting childhood of her own making. In a secluded community on the outskirts of Burnley, England, cut-off from both muggle and wizard relations, she had always craved more than her provincial life. She never understood the simplicity her parents had always enjoyed so much.
Ever since she was a young girl, May got herself into more trouble than necessary on her reckless escapades through the local forests and streams of her hometown. Her parents had tried repeatedly to keep her within the confines of the small general store they owned, but she simply could not be contained. Oftentimes she would call her adventures “treasure hunts,” as she always found some beautiful item to bring back home.
May had always been attracted to the beautiful things in life, and always found the value and beauty in everything around her. She particularly enjoyed finding the brightest and shiniest items to display on her windowsill, or even turn into jewelry for herself to wear. The girl may be considered a bit of a kleptomaniac, as many of the locals called her, but she corrected them proudly by saying she was a “collector of fine items.”
Through her own glittering adventures through her hometown, she discovered her own powers a bit late. Her mother was worried that May would be a Squib and disgrace the family, but soon enough that worry was quelled. While on an adventure through the forest the young girl had found a beautiful rock in a stream. Because of her dislike of being wet, the girl grabbed a rather large stick from the ground and tried to get the rock, but to her dismay, she fell into the stream. She screamed and shouted about being wet, but with a wave of her arms, she was suddenly nice and dry.
After the strange occurrence, the young girl rushed home with the rock in hand and told her parents what had happened. Her mother put together the pieces immediately and was overjoyed, as was her father. A few months later, May Lee received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts.
