Everose Renee Elfenbein grew up and continues to live in a middle-class home on the outskirts of Oxford. Her father, Markus, is a stern pure-blood wizard who works as a manager under the Improper Use of Magic Office of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in the Ministry of Magic. Her mother, Victoria, who is half-Veela (often spelled “Vila” by her family due to their Czech origin), used to work as a Healer at a small local Oxford magical clinic before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

Her paternal grandparents were pureblooded wizards who moved from Germany to Oxford, England, while her Oma (grandmother) was pregnant with her father. Her Opa (grandfather), who is a master magical pastry chef, owns a magical bakery on a hidden street in Oxford.
She often spent significant time with her Opa and Oma, at their family home and in their bakery, snacking happily on pastries and chatting enthusiastically. Everose has a strong sense of pride for her Opa and Oma’s business as well as their accomplishments and her German heritage through them. Despite her love for her heritage and the German language, she, unfortunately, never became fluent, circumstances preventing her father and grandparents from dedicating themselves to teaching her. While not fluent, Everose managed to learn several German words and phrases through conversational context between her grandparents, including a few curse words from their frequent playful bickering and banter.

Concerning the maternal side of her family, Everose’s great-great-grandparents were pureblooded Vila from the Czech Republic who moved to the forests of England many years ago. Their children and grandchildren married other pure-blooded Vila immigrants, while their great-grandchild, Everose’s grandmother, married a pure-blooded human wizard, the union from whom her mother was born. As such, her mother is classified as half-Vila while Everose and her older brother, Niklaus, are a quarter-Vila.
Her mother, Victoria, displays several Vila traits, including exceptional beauty and charm, but inherited dark hair, brown eyes, and a fair olive-tone complexion from her human father. She also displayed the characteristic aptitude for art and music as well as a fiery temper when truly provoked, although such occurrences were usually only born from threat or cruelty to her children or loved ones. Her mother moved out of the forests to live with her husband and Victoria’s father in a small home on the outskirts of Oxford. Victoria was raised in a relatively traditional wizard household, but her mother maintained the occasional Vila tradition. Despite this, Everose’s mother never became fluent in the Vila language and was only able to pass on short phrases and words to her daughter and son.
Everose’s brother, Niklaus, presented with almost no Vila traits. Instead, he inherited their mother’s brown hair and brown eyes. And as he grew older, although relatively handsome, it became apparent that he lacked the ability to charm others. His only otherVila trait consisted of a general affinity and talent for music.
Everose, in stark contrast to her brother, inherited surprisingly light blonde hair, fair skin, and green-blue eyes, as well as the characteristic beauty of a Vila. However, she lacks their general grace and is, in fact, rather clumsy. While lacking the grace for Vila dance, she inherited a beautiful singing voice. She also lacks the temperamental disposition of pure–blood Vila and is actually incredibly difficult to anger. However, when truly enraged, her Vila blood shows itself, and she becomes a force to be reckoned with, her usual kind nature replaced by a surprisingly cruel and cold attitude. In addition to her fearsome rage, her ability to charm others, while present, is significantly weaker than her mother’s. Through her mother’s guidance, Everose has learned to speak some phrases and words in the Vila language, but is far from fluent, much like her understanding of German.
Despite her general beauty, Everose’s distinct and notable Vila features resulted in a childhood consisting of frequent uncomfortable stares and critical mutterings of strangers. While her mother protected her from the harshest discrimination against her mixed blood, Everose still felt the notable pressure and judgment from others, growing to despise and nitpick her features. Additionally, her beauty often caused conflict with other girls as she got older, resulting in her frequently being betrayed out of jealousy and accused of deliberately charming the boys. These experiences caused Everose to internalize several insecurities about her appearance as well as develop trust issues. Her family did their best to assuage her insecurities, and while helpful to some degree, she still couldn't help feeling starkly different and separate from other wizarding children. This otherness was only accentuated in Everose’s mind when she witnessed the death of her Vila grandmother, who, while old in age, died the picture of youth and health. Her various life experiences led to Everose feeling conflicted about her Vila blood, both loving the part of herself that is inherently tied to her favorite person in the world, her mother, and hating the frequent negative attention and sense of differentness it brings.

Everose was fortunate enough to grow up in a well-off family, living in an adorable English cottage covered in crawling ivy with a sizable property and garden. Her home is situated in a forested and private area of Oxford on Heyford Hill Lane. The surrounding area provided the perfect cover for her family of wizards, allowing the house and surrounding property to be filled with magic charms and enchantments. Everose’s parents frequently displayed and used magic in everyday life, from enchantments to clean the dishes and floors to charms for summoning objects and preventing fragile items from falling to the ground. Additionally, Everose, in utter fascination, would often watch her mother, who was well-versed in healing spells due to her time as a Healer for a magical clinic, as she used a variety of spells and potions for healing Everose and her brother’s scrapes and injuries. Watching her mother, Everose gained an immense appreciation and love for the art of magic and its versatility.
Everose’s favorite person in the world, her mother, Victoria, is an incredibly kind and gentle woman, despite her occasional Vila-like temperament. She always treated Everose and her brother with respect and kindness, disciplining when needed, but always with a proper explanation and an underpinning of love and concern. Victoria spent a great deal of time with her children, becoming their emotional support in all things and a source of joy and love. Her mother would also frequently entertain her with beautiful displays of magic, which stoked the flames of Everose’s love of the craft and excitement to begin her education at Hogwarts. Everose frequently states that her mother is “the epitome of a mother”.
In contrast, her father, Markus, has always been incredibly stern with Everose and her brother, tending to treat them rather unkindly. Ambitious and judgmental, he often finds fault with his children, leading him to argue with his wife and children frequently. Additionally, due to his work, her father was frequently away from home and spent very little time with his children in their early years, except on their annual summer vacations. As such, Everose’s relationship with her father quickly became strained, even at the best of times.
She didn’t grow up with many close friends, only the occasional playdate with another wizarding child. Despite this, she was never lonely as she always considered her mother and her older brother, Niklaus, a current third-year Ravenclaw, as her best friends. She spent the majority of her childhood playing with her mother and Niklaus, or happily by herself. Additionally, she was always raised with pets; her mother always ensured that there was at least one cat and one dog in the house during Everose and her brother’s childhoods. Therefore, Everose rarely felt alone, although she frequently found herself wishing for a true best friend outside her family.
Despite the tension with her father and the lack of a best friend her age, the majority of Everose’s childhood was peaceful and a positive experience, except for one instance that scarred her deeply. A year before she was due to start Hogwarts, her maternal grandmother suddenly died in front of her in a wizarding hospital. Although she died of natural causes, the experience of watching her beloved grandmother fall into a short coma before passing away without the ability to bid farewell shook Everose to the core. This incident was only further exacerbated by her grandmother’s perpetually youthful features due to being a Vila, reinforcing the feeling that her grandmother was taken by death too soon. Some months later, during a somber family vacation, Everose stumbled upon thestrals for the first time. She was shocked to learn that her brother, who had not been present to witness their grandmother’s death, was unable to see them. The only other member of her nuclear family who could was her mother, who had seen many deaths in her time as a healer. When her mother kindly revealed the reason only the two of them could see the thestrals, Everose immediately broke down into tears in her mother’s arms. It was the first time she had truly cried over her grandmother’s death, and the experience healed the worst of the pain and sorrow. From that point onwards, Everose held a deep respect and fondness for thestrals, firmly believing them to be a gentle, almost therapeutic animal whose purpose was to help bring closure to those who had witnessed death.

Everose’s perception and love of magic have always been intrinsically tied to her favorite person in the world, her mother, Victoria. So, it should come as no surprise that her first instance of magic involved and was accidentally provoked by her mother. Everose’s first accidental use of magic occurred rather early in life when she was no more than four years old.

Having always been rather clumsy, particularly as a young child, Everose was prone to accidentally breaking objects. One day, Everose tripped while carrying her favorite porcelain doll. She watched in utter horror as the doll slipped from her small fingers and crashed to the ground with a loud shatter. She stared in shock at the broken pieces of her doll before immediately bursting into tears and wailing sobs. Her mother rushed into the room, understanding the situation from context clues and Everose’s sobbing apologies. Victoria warmly and kindly wrapped Everose in a hug and took out her own wand. Everose watched as her mother quickly cast “reparo” and fixed the broken doll, but even with the doll fixed, Everose couldn’t stop feeling a horrible sense of self-loathing at her own clumsiness that caused the situation to begin with. Concerned about her daughter’s distress and growing self-hatred, Victoria quickly cast another spell to try to distract and brighten Everose’s mood. It was a simple illusion spell that decorated the room with a fake but beautiful night sky filled with stars and a shining moon, something she knew Everose adored. Everose immediately forgot all about her woes as she stared up at the starry sky in amazement and squealed with delight. Her tiny heart felt overwhelmed with joy and an intense love and affection for her mother so strong she felt she might burst. In that moment, her childish mind became sure that her mother must be one of the beautiful and kind fairytale princesses in her favorite fantasy stories. To both her and her mother’s shocked delight, small flowers began to sprout from her mother’s dark hair, surrounding her head in the loose shape of a crown. Her mother instantly realized that Everose had just experienced her first accidental magic and happily scooped up her child in her arms and praised her profusely while patiently explaining what happened. The moment was forever cemented in Everose’s mind, and she vowed to herself then and there that she would always love magic and she would do her very best to always make her mother proud.
