Leah lives hidden away in a cozy cottage home on the outskirts of Oxford, England, with both her parents. Her mother is a pure-blood, and her father is a Muggle. Her mother's side are mostly Hufflepuffs, while her father's side are all Muggles.
ReducioLeah Lee Lavendel is a very adorable and distinctly shy girl; she lives hidden away in the outskirts of Oxford, England, with both her parents. Her father was born a Muggle, whilst her mother was born a Pure-blood, making Leah Lavendel a half-blood witch.
Her little stone brick cottage on Divinity Road, Oxford, garnished with ivy, is surrounded by tall, dense trees and shrubbery so thick that it conceals her home entirely: perfect for any Wizard-kind in a Muggle world. Finding the entrance is rather difficult, as only the people who live there would know the way in. The method of entry is a rather specific technique: “Fruticetum Resero,” a password her parents created when they found the place, along with a certain swish and flick with any stick around to make the shrubbery listen. It didn’t require casting magic; rather, it was a magical gateway mechanism her mother cast onto the plants themselves.
As soon as you walk through the entrance, you will see a mini garden on the right, growing magical plants, including Dittany and Hellebore flowers, as well as regular basil. Leah’s Mother’s side had been mostly made up of pure-blood Hufflepuffs, including herself, aside from two of her cousins: her eldest step-cousin, being a graduated half-blood Gryffindor, and her eldest cousin, currently a Ravenclaw in Third Year. Nevertheless, it is practically a family tradition to grow plants both inside and outside the house. Perhaps it’s the Hufflepuff’s ‘love of plants’ trait that dominates this tradition in the rest of the family. Her father’s side of the family is all Muggles, of course. Most of them are either farmers or hunters.
Leah is the eldest in her family, Thomas being her younger brother by two years. She always found him incredibly annoying when they were young: he acted rashly and disruptively, interrupting her own playtime. Despite this, she would be there to defend him when he was in trouble with anyone else. Only she was allowed to be annoyed with him.
For a while, her family moved frequently, so she never really had many friends, and usually left them within the year. Socializing became very awkward for her and her brother; over time, they’d be seen as odd children in the family. Family time was customary, and it was seen as rather strange not to talk or participate in family activities. Consequently, this made her feel more awkward and, instead, ostracized herself to watch.
It wasn't until much later, when she first boarded The Hogwarts Express on 9 ¾. A girl behind her, looking the same age, tripped over her own luggage, toppling it onto the floor, and with a loud “thump”, the girl fell flat onto it. Her name was Everose Elfenbein. Leah helped her up and guided her luggage, then asked if Everose would like to share a cabin with her. Ever since then, they’ve been best friends and platonic soul mates for life. Continuing the story: The trolley lady had stopped by, asking, “Anything from the trolley, dears?” Leah had asked for Fizzy Wizzys and Pumpkin Pasties, while Everose asked for Peppermint Frogs and Dark Chocolate Covered Honeycombs. Everose decided to share her treats with Leah as thanks, brightening Leah’s expression, and she immediately went to share some of her own candy. This created a friendly bond that later turned into a long conversation, guessing which house they would be sorted into.

Leah was only eight years old when her books and plushies started flying into place out of nowhere.
ReducioLeah always hated getting into trouble. It wasn’t because she loathed the discipline, but rather the disappointment it brought to people; shame deeply torments her. However, today was the day she was spared from that moment in under a minute: a moment she will always remember as the time when magic shielded her, although not literally.
When Leah was only eight years old, she was sitting on the family couch, tucked comfortably at the end and wrapped in her favorite white, fluffy blanket. The lamp next to her illuminated the area in a warm yellow-orange glow. It was there that she was reading a book about Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, its rules of magic, and the different kinds of magic taught within the school. The book was a gift from her mother, a proud Hufflepuff back when she attended Hogwarts. She was just about to flip to the 56th page when her mother walked in, shortly followed by her father, a Muggle, who was grabbing his keys and wallet.
“Leah”, her mother started, “your room is covered corner to corner in your books and stuffed animals. Can you please clean it up before we get back from the store? Your father and I need to pick up some extra ingredients to make supper tonight.”
Leah looked up from her book to acknowledge them; “Yes, Mother, just a moment. I’m on the chapter about the four houses in depth-”
Her father cut her off whilst he threw on his fancy dark jacket, “-And you can get back to reading it when you’re done picking up your room.”
Her father always spoke in a passive-aggressive voice when giving orders or being stern, always followed by a small chuckle. She always wondered why he did that. Was it to sound like he wasn’t truly angry? She couldn’t tell.
Leah sighed and slid in her bookmark before setting the book aside on the small lamp table beside her, turning the lamp off as well.
“Alright…” She spoke, a little dejected.
As she walked past her parents, heading to her room, her mother added softly while smiling, “I’ll buy you your favorite candy from Honeydukes as a reward.”
Leah's eyes lit up, happy to hear such words. “Okay!” She said, walking faster to her bedroom. When she opened the door, however, all the gleefulness she felt in her heart sank when she saw the sight of her chaotic, filled bedroom. She suddenly realized how much of a mess she’d actually made. It was like both a bookstore and a plush toy store exploded in her room. Some plushies were all in one circle, some kicked to the side when she was playing “Who did it?” and pushed over the guilty as if pronounced dead. Some were just strewn across the floor, while her books were stacked in multiple, small, uneven towers.
Leah paced around, wondering where to even begin. She stopped for a moment and examined the room. “Perhaps it's best I start from left to right,” she thought to herself as she traversed through the left side of her convoluted maze of a room.
She began picking up her plushies first, sorting her favorites appropriately onto her bed and the others in her toy bin. Only a couple of minutes had passed when her attention was diverted after picking up one of her books, which had been crushing one of the last plushies. It was an old children's wizard book she owned about potions. It had silly poems and rhymes about the different kinds of brews and their effects. Out of curiosity and nostalgia, she opened to her favorite section and began to read:
“The Regerminating Potion:
To a plant unable to sprout,
A few drops enable it, no doubt.”
She skipped a couple of pages further in interest. It read:
“The Veritaserum Potion:
Not to be used in standard day,
Any drinker shall speak the truth, I say.
Though beware, this vile is fickle,
As it affects some very little.”
Leah was so caught up in reading that she decided to read just a few more: a children's book about different herbs and a few about different kinds of creatures and monsters. She was completely infatuated with what the magical world had to offer. Her mother never said much about it, but there was always magic being used in the house; whether it be the dishes being washed or the laundry being put away by itself, it was always there to fascinate her, although she wasn’t allowed to speak of it outside the house. She was forewarned once by her mother that it wasn’t allowed to be told to the other Muggles. Leah had questioned why, though the only response she received was, “Because that’s the way it is.” So she didn’t press. Despite this, she always asked her mother for books from the magical world.
It was half past 6 when she heard the front door creak open. Leah’s focus shot up from her book; her blood went cold. She looked around the room; it was still a mess with the many towers of books strewn across the room. She frantically picked up the stray books and went to place them on her bookshelf, but looked back to grab more; there were just too many to clean it all up in time; she could already hear her parents setting their stuff down. Any minute now, they would start to head to her room, she thought. Her heart began to race, and her hands got cold and clammy. “Maybe they would focus on making dinner?” She tried to convince herself, but all that shattered when she heard footsteps approaching her bedroom. In a panic, she tried picking up her books even faster, but suddenly, the book she was reaching for floated upward. She stopped and stared at it, then at the door to see if her mother had already been standing there, and decided to clean the room with magic herself, but no one was there. She looked back at the book, but it was gone. In confusion, she looked around and saw it floating towards her bookshelf. “What in the world…?” she whispered. Then a few more books started to float until all of them were floating above and around her to reach the bookshelf. In mere seconds, all the books were being put away right before her eyes. Soon, everything was put away neatly, all but the last plushie that happened to be stuck under her knee when she knelt in astonishment. Feeling it wriggle, she looked down, then lifted her knee just slightly, allowing it to quickly float to her bed. Just at that moment, her mother opened the door, and Leah quickly glanced at her.
“Leah-,” her mother looked down, “-Why are you on the floor?”
Leah stood up as normally as she could, as if she wasn’t acting strange. “I was- uhm.” She was about to mention the magic that just occurred, but she decided she would keep that to herself so her parents didn’t know she was procrastinating on cleaning her room.
“Your room looks a lot better! I left some Pumpkin Pasties on the counter. You can have some after I make dinner,” Her mother said kindly.
Leah stared before starting, “Oh- thank you…” She felt a little guilty, as she didn’t actually do much, but she was glad the problem seemed to have solved itself in time: a moment she would never forget.
