Into The Unkown
Skylar looks out the window as the red steam engine roars to life, leaving the King's Cross Station behind. She is awed, to say the least, of the life that fills every corner of this magical world. Her mind is filled with nothing but dreams and ambition and everything she wants to do in Hogwarts. And food. Obviously. That's why when the Trolley Witch came over, Skylar made sure to really stock up on food, including the pumpkin pastries and chocolate frogs. It is not her fault she has such a sweet tooth, she just requires a lot of energy for planning. Planning gives her a sense of direction and order in such a chaotic world. It organizes her thoughts and helps her feel calm.
So, Skylar took out her journal and began writing. Oh, how she dreams to join Quidditch and fly in the sky, to excel in her classes and be honored, to help others and have amazing adventures. So many to do, so little time. Skylar cannot wait to enjoy quiet mornings in the common room, eat in the bustling dining hall, and feel every bit like the witch she is destined to be.
However, it is times like these that makes Skylar wonder who she truly is. All her dreams and ambitions lead her to… what? Who does she want to be? On one hand, her academic interests and studious nature paint her as the perfect Ravenclaw, just like her mother. Perhaps a future author who writes of her dreams, or a librarian surrounded by knowledge upon knowledge. Yet, her bold personality and high hopes make her a true Gryffindor with a lion heart, like her father. Her desire for adventure brings her on a path to be an Auror, or even a curse-breaker.
Skylar glances at the passing scenery, feeling torn with the thoughts swirling inside her head. To be a Ravenclaw, or a Gryffindor? Secretly, Skylar hopes to be a Ravenclaw. She wants to talk to people who think like her and stay in a place where you can learn something new every conversation. Though Gryffindor sounds grand as well, Skylar cannot help but doubt whether she will truly fit in. She feels that she is all dreamer, but not enough doer. Oh, but how she wants to fly and explore. Can she really do that if she is a Ravenclaw? Too nerdy for the Gryffindors, but too hyper for the Ravenclaws.
Skylar sighs and puts away her journal. That is way too much thinking for the time being. Instead, she looks out the window and watches as the grand silhouette of Hogwarts slowly approaches. She closes her eyes as she remembers her parents’ goodbye to her.
“No matter what house you get sorted into, you are still you. Just because an eagle listens to its mind does not mean it cannot follow its heart. And just because a lion roars fiercely does not mean they cannot walk quietly.”
