The satisfied smirk on his face and the way he held his shoulders did more than hint at how pleased he was with his efforts of the day. Now he simply wished to share it with others. His gaze immediately turned to the Gryffindors seated at their table. Yes, that would do nicely. They would all find it hilarious he was sure. As everyone would. But since he could tell his house and dorm mates about his mischief at just about any point of the day, he turned his attention elsewhere.
He spotted quite a few he thought would benefit from hearing his story. As he swept by the Hufflepuff table his eyes landed on a girl he knew well. Oh, just wait until she heard! His smirk only got wider as he approached. «Oy, Cuthburt! He yelled as he approached with quite the strut. «You’ll never guess the prank I just pulled off in the library. It was my greatest one yet. Probably the best of all time!» He declared loudly as he dropped to sit next to her on the bench. «I’m sure you wouldn’t be able to pull off anything close to half as funny!» Sitting with his back leaned against the table he properly focused on her face to see her reaction. «I probably shouldn’t even tell you, because if I did you would be green with jealousy»

Olivia was sat at the Hufflepuff table, with a few of her friends, her plate full of food. If someone saw how much she had piled on they would never believe it was for her. Olivia had worked up quite the appetite today as she had missed breakfast, she knew it was too much food but everything just smelt sooo gooood. Olivia was never one to miss a meal but today it was well worth it, she had pulled off her best prank yet at Hogwarts during potions class this morning. She was just about to dig in when she heard an all too familiar voice yell, "Oy Cuthburt," Olivia rolled her eyes as Max made his way over, Why must he come distub her lunch?. Max began to inform her of the prank he had just pulled off challenging her ablities, honestly he was so full of himself. she thought. Max leaned against the table watching her as she tried to ignore his presence and took a bite out of her food, "I probably shouldn't even tell you, because if I did, you would be green with jealousy," he said.
That was it, no one challeneged Olivia and then proceeded to provoke her. Olivia put down her utensils giving Max her full attention. She smiled, "Oh Vidler, do you really think you were the only one to pull off a prank today?" she asked raising an eyebrow. She analysed his face for a reaction, "I am starving and you decided to distub me just to tell me you pulled off a mediocre prank in comparison to what I managed to do during potions this morning," she added with a smirk, now turning her attention back to her food. "Besides how many people are even talking about your prank, all they seem to know about is mine," Olivia boasted with her mouth full.

Even with his mouth full he somehow managed to smirk. He let her words roll right off him. Though he furrowed his brow at her last amendment. No matter, it was gone as soon as it appeared. With the apple still in his hand he gestured around them. «Trust me, my prank was far above mediocre. Only reason people are talking about yours is because they have yet to hear about mine. Finished only ten minutes ago, so no wonder the word hasn’t spread yet.» He shrugged lightly. «But when people do hear, they will for sure talk of nothing else!»
Why did Olivia have to pull off something today too? He hated it. Hated her. She always tried to outdo him. The most annoying thing was that he failed to be the best just as often as he succeeded. A part of him was quite conscious of the fact that her doings could be better than his, but he did his best to hide the insecurities. Taking another bite out of the apple he inspected her and the surrounding Hufflepuffs for a moment. «What did you do anyway? I want to make sure you people can actually handle knowing. No better way than to show what you consider a prank worth speaking of.» He gestured at her, as if to say to knock herself out. «Do tell, had I not been busy achieving excellence myself I am sure I would have mildly enjoyed seeing it!»

Olivia chucked, "Vidler please don't kid yourself, you would have throughly enjoyed it," she scoffed. Olivia knew no one could ever beat her pranks, Max had come close a few times, maybe even doing a better job once or twice but she could never admit that, not to him anyway. Olivia smirked looking at Max as she wiped her face with elegance using a cute folded napkin from her pocket, "You want to know what I did?" she asked amused, "Don't you have ears Vidler? can't you hear the chatter?" she provoked, enjoying the reaction she knew she would recieve. One thing she enjoyed about Max was pushing his buttons, a little competition was always welcome in her eyes. "Well imagine how annoying yet hilarious it would be if some of the ingredients were wrongly labelled, think of the chaos, think of the possibilities," she said in amusement as she thought back to the small explosions, the worried faces as potions turned the wrong colour and the extremely worried professor. "They still haven't figured out who was behind it but the Ravenclaws were fuming," she boasted as she grabbed Max's apple from his hand taking a bite. "Before you say that was dangerous, don't worry I did some research before hand to make sure the ingredients were safe to be mixed," she reasurred proudly. "So back to you, what great prank did the marvellous Max pull in the library huh?" she asked rolling her eyes, before looking over at her Hufflepuff friends smirking as she knew she couldn't be out done. Olivia knew someone needed to humble Max and if it was going to be her she was going to make sure he never won anything, ever.

The cocky grin stayed in place as he listened intently. It was actually quite amusing to hear. So amusing in fact that he let her take the apple from him and simply stole a piece of toast from her plate. When she finished he could not hold back the building laugh.
«Really? You did that? And you are proud of it?» He snorted. «I have created bigger mishaps on accident, imagine if I just tried a little!» But she was right in the end, he would have thoroughly enjoyed being there to see it. Not that he would ever admit that to her.
Collecting his confidence he smirked. His prank was a lot easier to undo, but at least it was bigger. «What I did?» He feigned innocence. «The library is no longer a place of study, and have instead become a beach.» Tone does little to hide how satisfied he is, and the cocky grin does not help either.
«I have been itching to practice that glass to snail transformation since we learned it in class. I figured using books instead would be more challenging» He shrugged nonchalantly. He was not good at transfiguration, so the basic spell was more than challenging enough. It ended with most of the books half transformed and a good deal of them melted, but he was not about to volunteer that information. «So, tell me again Cuthburt. Say my prank was mediocre!»

Olivia was so engrossed in hearing about Max's prank she didnt notice he had taken a peice of toast from her plate until she saw him chewing making her furrow her eyebrows, she looked into her hands mentally confirming she still had his apple before immediately looking at what was in his hand.
"Oi you little food thief," she joked, trying to ensure she didnt accidently compliment his prank. In all honesty his prank was impressive, she found the library to be quite a boring place, so that would have most certainly made it way more fun and intriguing. "Definitely mediocre Vidler," she lied confidently, a small smile betraying her. "Let me guess the spell has worn off already or is the library still a place of leisure?" she asked as she finished off the apple.
"You see with my prank the professor still can't teach a practical until he's gone through his whole supply cupboard," she boasted once more. "Mines more trouble in the long run, makes it all the more better," she added. "And my prank is more risky," she continued to list. "And mine will probably be remembered by the class for a lifetime," she added. "You know what, I'll be nice just this once and stop listing all the reasons mine was better," She said with a arrogant smile.
The debate about whose prank was better could last hours between Max and Olivia, the Hufflepuff table was now nearly empty, heck, the great hall was nearly empty with everyone beginning to continue on with their day. "We need a judge," Olivia said thoughtfully, "And not a bias one," she added. "Or you could just admit I did better," she said cheekily. She would be lying if she said she didn't enjoy this, but sometimes someone needed to stop them before they got too competitive and eneded up taking it too far.

As if! He shook his head while biting off more toast. «I doubt that! You see, with my transfiguration skills it will hardly be a straight forward job to untransfigure it all» He shrugged as carelessly as he could manage. «It is still a place for fun and digging, and will probably stay that way for a while!» Not that he could know of course. He had focused mainly on one set of shelves, but had risked doing some transformations here and there through the library as a whole. Just to make the signs of his mischief stay visible for as long as possible.
«Oh, please! It was hardly that memorable. My cauldron has exploded in class, and I heard someone mention it only yesterday!» He shook his head in disbelief over her opinion. «Perhaps if you had mixed some ingredients together it would take a bit of time, but you know there are extra supplies right? The Professor can just get new ones…» When she said she would stop listing reasons for success he only smirked.
«Mine was better anyway» He gestured vaguely. «Accidents happen in potions all the time. It’s not like that is new. Besides, the library being filled with sand will stick better In everyones memory!» This discussion could truly go on forever. That was probably why they both enjoyed it as much as they did.
Upon the suggestion of bringing in a judge he nodded. That did sound smart. Quickly he studied the people sitting around them, and dismissed the possibility. No way they would be fair. His gaze wandered elsewhere before a wide smile spread on his lips. «I know just the person» He assured her before standing. «Flame! Get over here!» With the constant noise filling the room it did not immediately look like the Gryffindor heard. He stepped up on the bench he had been sitting on and made a cone shape with his hands for the sound to hopefully carry better. «OY! Afterglow!» He gestured to the table they were sitting at. «Feel like judging?» With that he sat down again with a satisfied smirk looking at Olivia. «She can totally be fair. Not a bias in sight» Not technically true thinking of the house crests they had, but so be it. He did not want it to be unfair, but he would stomach it for getting the win.

“OY! Afterglow!” Flame looked up from where she was finishing her food and quickly shoved the packet of snaps she had in her hand back into her pocket. When Flame looked around for the cause of the yell she saw her fellow Griffindor Max standing on a bench. “Feel like judging?” he yelled at her.
Flame smiled and got up. She walked over to where Max was sitting and found Olivia sitting beside him. “Morning!” she told them “What needs to be judged?” Flame started thinking through all the options for things that would need to be judged. A bet maybe? That seemed like a reasonable guess judging by the fact that she knew the two people in front of her were competitive and also both liked pranks also like her.
Flame paused. A prank? She looked at Olivia and Max for any signs of a successful prank. The glint in there eyes and they’re smiles told her that it probably was a prank. She could only guess what they did but they’re had been some rumours going around and Flame thought she knew who she could pin them on.
She brought her attention back to Max and Olivia and smiled at them. “Pranks?!” she asked. Hoping she didn’t look to excited. After all. Pranks were kinda one of her things. She waited patiently for them to answer and wondered what kind of mishap they had caused this time.

Olivia snickered as Max called over Flame. Flame fair? she was her friend at the end of the day, this should be intresting, she thought to herself. "Max really? another Gryffindor? thought better of you," she teased wanting to make him question his decision just enough to think he may have the upper hand.
Flame mader her way over and almost instantly managed to correctly guess what she had been called to judge. "You must have heard about the huge mishap during potions from the Ravenclaws," she said proudly, "Unlike his prank", she said, playfully nudging Max. "What was it again? oh yeah something to do with the library?" she stated rolling her eyes. She needed this win more like wanted it.
Olivia looked over at Max, "The only reason you think mine is easy is cause your no good at any lessons," she stated hoping to get under his skin. "The professor may have extra supplies but they would have to go through the trouble of reorganising everything, even if it's with magic it's still inconvenient," she tried to reason.
"Flame this is very important so think long and hard before coming to a decision," she said rather seriously turning her attention back to her. Yeah Olivia had an ego, yes she was arrogant, yes she hated losing but they were engraved into as a child. She was told she took things too far at times sometimes bordering on mean but she never ment to.

"Flame this is very important so think long and hard before coming to a decision,"
Olivia told Flame turning to her. Flame had already heard about the potions ‘disaster’ the other day and had been planning to one up Olivia but now that would be impossible. She knew about how some of the ingredients at one of the potions lesson had been wrongly labeled and the chaos (and angry Ravenclaw’s) that it had created.
Flame knew that that was a good prank and would be hard to one up but she also knew that The competitor (Max) was also pretty good at pranks. Flame turned to him with a smirk on her face. “Well Vidler, why don’t you tell me all about this great prank you played?” Flame turned back to Olivia a smile in her face. “And Olivia? I’m gonna need more details about this prank you played. How many classes fell for it? Has the prank been fixed yet? And most importantly. Were You Caught? Same questions go for you Vidler.” Flame kinda liked calling Max ‘Vidler’ he called her ‘Afterglow’ sometimes after all. Now Flame just needed a nickname for Olivia. She made a mental note to ask her later.
