What a whirlwind Christmas break it was turning out to be! It was like nothing the Hogwarts student had ever experienced. Portugal and France with Meyra Lancaster, and then a high speed moped theft with a very spunky Spaniard who Dennis thought was named Rina. He had one more stop before his vacation was officially over. There was a person he wanted to catch up with that had made a rather lasting impression on him ever since they met all those years ago in Hogsmeade.
A fated meeting where he met, for the very first time, the daughter of what turned out to be family friends. They had met off and on through their Hogwarts education, but most notably spending time with his mother who had taken a fondness to the Slytherin whether out of pity or empathy, Dennis wasn’t sure. There wasn’t a break or time home that went by that his mother hadn’t peppered him with questions about one Remedy Norden. The questions grew less over the summer as Rem had transferred schools and was no longer attending Hogwarts but his mother Maggie was very happy to hear that Dennis had arranged a rendezvous with his friend (or her friend?) In Bath, England where she was staying during the holidays.
For his part, Dennis really liked spending time with Remedy. He found her challenging and intensely interesting, if by interesting, you mean very attractive. She was always the bad girl and as he walked the cobbled walkway along the River Avon, he had chuckled as he pulled the cigarette from his mouth and blew the smoke that had been building in his lungs into the frosty air. What would she think now that he smoked? He replaced the cig and stuffed his hands in his coat pocket. She always struck him as a trouble maker and a rule bender. He leaned against the railing safeguarding pedestrians when he reached the spot the agreed to meet in their letters to each other. He had mentioned in one of their many correspondences that he found an interesting property to a potion ingredient that she might find intriguing. If only she actually managed to find time to escape her family long enough for them to meet for the first time in what felt like ages to the teenager.
