As far as I know, there is currently no way to create your own spells and potions. You can buy spells and potions though to be added to your trunk that you can use! Just be aware that some spells have certain prerequisites if you're buying spells that are for older years.

Hi Harry! Unfortunately, like Avery said, you are unable to create your own spell or potion. However, you are able to obtain spells and potions through completing homework or you can buy spells in the Study Corner forums on the fifth floor of Hogwarts. For example, first Year's study corner is here.

You can also use the Forum Suggestions thread to propose an idea for spells and potions, if you'd like. However, the current system likely cannot accommodate the creation of new spells/potions

I think it was once possible before July 2025, but not now

Before June 2025, your character needed to RP making the potion in a thread to achieve "proficiency" to claim the potion in their trunk. However, once you used it- you used it and it was gone. You needed to have purchased the ingredients as well. Basically: You would do the homework to learn the recipes rather than get the potion itself.

Nowadays, your character gets the potion from completing homework or buying it in the shops and it does not disappear.

If you're talking about actual spell or potion creation to be added to site: This is something you can reach out to staff about eventually (sometimes they are looking for ideas) but presently there isn't a search for them I belive.

If you're talking about your character creating one in a thread: This is tricky because it cannot be something that would be unrealistic for your character's magical ability. I would suggest reaching out to a staff member specifically either through owls or on the site Discord for help with this question.
