It was a cool spring evening within the Sabo household. Dusana's mother, Louise had taken her granddaughter, Mabel for ice-cream at one of the fancy new ice-cream parlours near Notting Hill. Dusana herself had been invited but she had politely declined, stating that her medical exams were coming up and that she had to study. It wasn't long until her year internship was over, and Dusana was determined to be the best. Even if meant puppy dog eyes from Mabel, and Dusana's own heart break. Louise had given her a look that said, 'You left Hogwarts to spend time with your daughter, and here you are holed away in your study.' The guilt sat with Dusana for a long time, even after the pair had left in the warm, twilight sunshine.

Dusana sighed though. She had to get these medical terms right for the next exam. Nurse Lockett, one of her supervisors, had sat down with her one lunch break, and pointed out that these exams, especially this up and coming one, were important.

Sitting at her desk, the blonde woman tapped her quill tip against the desk, a fidgeting taking over her. Why couldn't these words, these phrases, this terminology just stay in her brain? She had read over these things a million times over the past year! Even longer before with her initial healer training! And now it was just flowing out of her brain like there was a sieve attached. She just needed to buckle down...

Getting up, Dusana stretched out her back and picked up her teacup. She took and small sip and grimaced. It was stone cold. How long she been sitting here? What time was it? Was her mother and Mabel back? All of these questions and more flew through her head, as she realised that the golden light outside from the afternoon sun was gone, replaced by a pitch blackness that could only be known as night time. Glancing at her medical book, Dusana breathed deeply through her nose, letting out a big puff of air. A small break wouldn't hurt.

Coming into the corridor, Dusana called out for her mother. "Mama? Are you home?" There was no answer. Dusana frowned even more. Where could they possibly be? It wasn't like Louise to leave her daughter in the dark. Walking into the kitchen, Dusana placed her teacup down on the kitchen counter. It was then she noticed the tapping on the windowpane. Outside sat a tawny owl, a letter in it's beak. Rushing to the window, she opened the clasp, fed the owl it's standard treat, and tore the letter open. The ink inside was rushed, scrawl and tear drops marking the parchment in a decidedly awful way. It was hard to read in some parts, and smudged in others. What Dusana did discern was concerning, and made her flee to the fireplace in an instant. The letter was from Louise, stating that she and Mabel were now at St Mungoes because of an incident with Mabel. They'd been eating their ice-cream in the park, happy as can be, when Mabel had dropped to the ground like a stone in a pond. The ice-cream had laid forgotten when Mabel had become unresponsive. Louise, knowing her daughter was busy, rushed her granddaughter to St Mungoes, where she knew the girl would receive the best of care.

Yanking her cloak of it's silver hook, Dusana grabbed a handful of floo powder, and called out, "St Mungoes!" In an instant she vanished into a swirl of black smoke and darkness. Landing only a few seconds later, she coughed out a breathe of blackness as the Hospitals welcoming ward greeted her. Burshing off the last remnants of floo powder, Dusana strode over to the front desk, and a sigh of relief went through her. Jasmine was working tonight. She at least was compent and knew what she was supposed to be doing. Reaching it, Dusana grabbed the young woman's attention. Jasmine smiled at Dusana, friendly as ever. "Dusana! I didn't know you were supposed to be working tonight. How-" she stopped, frowning ever so slightly. "What's wrong? Is everything okay? You look frazzled." Dusana scowled. Frazzled? She was frightened out of her wits. Where was her mother and daughter? She didn't have time for niceties. Dusana snapped back a reply, "My daughter has recently been admitted here. Came in with my mother, her grandmother. Do you know what ward she is on?" Jasmine's eyes widened. "Umm, just me check. One moment." She tittered with her stacks of parchment on the desk, ones that hadn't made it to filing yet. "Oh, here we are. Mabel Sabo. Oh yes, sweet girl. Was mainly unresponsive when she came in with grandmother." She looked at Dusana then. "Third floor. Suspected poisoning or reaction."

It was all Dusana needed. Dusana flew towards the elevators, pressing the stupid button a stupid number of times, wishing the stupid thing would move faster. Finally it dinged, and she reached the third floor. Petal, the elderly nurse in charge tonight took one look at Dusana as she came towards the desk and pointed to a door down the corridor. "They're still doing tests sweetheart. She's sleeping right now." Dusana nodded and continued along. Petal knew it would help little until Dusana actually saw Mabel with her own two eyes, and could make out that she was alright.

Scanning the names on the doors, Dusana finally found the one she was looking for. Inside sat Louise, crumpled into a chair and Mabel, still on the bed. As Dusana came closer, she could see her little chest rising and falling ever so softly. Asleep. Thank goodness. A harsh. red, spotty rash covered Mabel's neck and chest, well as her lips, from what Dusana could see in the dim darkness. She looked to her mother. She was silent, watching Dusana with big, wet eyes. Coming to where her mother sat, Louise crumpled even further, holding onto Dusana's cloak. "It all happened so fast," she whispered, not wanting to wake the sleeping girl. "One moment we were sitting on the park bench eating ice-cream, the next, she was on the ground unconscious. I didn't know what to do. She broke out with this rash as we were coming here." The older woman closed her eyes, shaking out a silent sob. The next words were wet with emotion. "The healers took her immediately up here. They've been running tests for hours. They said something about an allergic reaction, but surely she would've healed from that already?" She looked to Dusana, the one who was clearly more the expert in this matter. Grabbing her mother gently by the shoulders, she brushed a kiss over her forehead. "It'll be okay Mama. She looks to be stable. I'll go find out what I can."
