Crossed Paths
Daphne wasn't sure how to feel about this new school. She was always good at getting by around the few people she'd met over the years, seemingly having a capability to be a social chameleon.
She hadn't found a person she couldn't adjust her behavior to at least be tolerated by, at least not until she'd get very close with them.
But she was tired of that. She was tired of always having to adjust herself to everyone, always being a people pleaser, always treating every interaction of hers like a game or a psychoanalyzation.
So she made a vow to herself.
She was not going to talk to anyone until they approached her. And then she was going to be herself, regardless of if the other person likes her or not.
Daphne goes to sit on the edge of the fountain, the cool stone supporting her weight like a bench. She crossed her legs as she'd been told to her entire childhood until it was second nature, and she examined campus.
Hogwarts was absolutely huge. It was going to no doubt take a long time for her to get comfortable navigating it, but the community seemed nice enough that she'd be helped if she got lost. She had to admit, though, constantly being watched by the portraits was unnerving.
Daphne silently looks around, peering into windows, taking a mental note of certain details that she could keep for landmarks.
