How do you use the Marauder's Map? I just bought it but I don't know how to use it… nothing's written on it.

I think it shows you where a person is. Ex. If I'm in the owlery, it will show me (Julia Evans) in the owlery along with some message. About the blank thing – there is some sort of glitch. I borrowed one @Amelia Lerelle to see how it works, but it only showed for about a second the went blank. I tried after a while, and it still showed blank. If that's how it is for you, you can report it as a bug in technical support.

This may be a bug. The Marauders map doesn’t particularly have a “use”? Other than showing what forums people are viewing. If you were reading a thread in the potions room, like Julia said, it would tell me “George Calder: Cleaning out cauldrons” or something along those lines.

If you are in possession of an invisibility cloak this might mess with it. If you want to be viewable on the map, and to see others, turn this action on in the settings. If you want help with that let me know

It can also not function properly if you have the invisibility cloak on in your preferences. profile-> preferences and then click the x:) Even if you don't technically have the invisibility cloak, but that's on in your preferences, it still wont show you on other people's maps, but you're also barred from seeing others {I think}
