Darci was always a curious child. Instead of wanting to go outside and play sports like the other children in her community, she'd rather stay inside and read. She'd rather read about far off places and daring adventures than go to new places. She couldn't help but get lost in a good book. That's why she found herself where she is now, the Library. She needed to escape her current reality, of stressful family drama, unfortunate class work. Darci needed to get to her safe place. Thankfully she remembered to bring her favorite book with her from home. It was about a brother and sister who release ancient spirits where one is out to destroy the world, and the others inhabit human souls, giving them special powers, allowing them to defeat the evil spirit.

"I can't believe that you could be so dumb. Allowing her to learn your secret name! You can be so dense sometimes." She quietly yelled at her book, disappointed in her favorite character. She froze suddenly feeling a pair of eyes on her small form. Darci had purposefully picked a table all the way in the back near the restricted section, to be invisible, but she knew it was only a matter of time until she was found out. She looked up towards the figure who was slightly staring at her. "It's rude to stare you know." Darci looked back down at her book, not moving from the spot that she stopped at.

Savanna wandered the library in search of the perfect book. She wandered through the sections looking at adventure books, history books, charm books, and every other type of book. She just could not find one right for her. She wandered farther and farther till she was in the back of the library.

She noticed a girl who seemed angry with a book. She observed from a safe distance. She heard the girl yell about some secret name or something, and became all the more intrigued. She got closer, still keeping her eyes steadily on the girl before her. She smiled, happy to know that she was not the only one who talked to their books. She loved books that seem to take you to a whole new world. She realized that she was staring, but before she could fix it, the girl called her out. She fiddled with her hair as she always did when she was nervous. "I am terribly sorry. " she replied, hoping to appease her. "I did not mean to stare." she paused before continuing, "What book is that?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with interest. She sat down across from darci, "How rude of me, my name is Savanna, Savanna Waralor. A pleasure to meet you." She reached her hand out for a friendly shake.

Darci mentally sighed, the moment was ruined. Carter was getting yelled at by Sadie and it was wonderful. Smiling towards the redhead before her, Darci shook her hand. "Nice to meet you Savanna. I'm Darci, Darci Whitman. I'm currently reading the first book in the Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid. It's my absolute favorite. Do you read?" Darci was greatly interested in Savanna. She seemed a bit excited to have found a fellow book reader. Darci moved over as to allow Savanna a seat next to her so the book was visible to the both of them.

Darci's mind slowly began to drift away as a small movie played in her head. What would it be like if I was apart of their world? Both my reality and fantasy have magic. I wish I could live there, away from school and rude family members. As she was in her own little world Darci hadn't noticed that the redhead had begun to speak out. Snapping out of her thoughts Darci paid full attention. She didn't want to miss a single beat. If she was able to make a new friend maying her entire first year wouldn't be as awful as she would think.

She heard her say her name was Darci, and it made her think of a friend back home with the same name. As Darci continued to talk, Savanna held back a laugh. Darci asked her if she read and to reply, Savanna revealed her house emblem on her cloths. "Have you ever met a Ravenclaw that did not read? If so, please tell me their name so that I may inform the authorities that they are in the wrong house." she teased. She really had never met a Ravenclaw student who did not read. She peered over Darci's shoulder at the book. "I think I have seen that book before, but I don't believe I've read it yet."

She looked over Darci to see any evidence of her house. She noted the patch on Darci's robe with the Griffindor emblem and smiled. She thought to herself, Most griffindors prefer to be outside or exploring rather than being in a library, guess Darci is just one of the select few who have discovered the magic behind books. She squinted her eyes at the book and caught a phrase here and there. "I have a question for you" she said in her Scottish accent, "Have you read Mr. Scammander's book on fantastic beasts?" she asked intently looking to Darci, who she hoped would say yes...

Darci chuckled with Savanna. She'd never actually never met a Ravenclaw before. It was quite refreshing to find another bookworm. "You're the first Ravenclaw I've met while here. It makes sense that all Ravenclaws read." Darci loved how well she was able to get along with someone else who wasn't in her house.

As soon as Mr. Scammander's name was brought up a certain sparkle shown in her amber eyes. "I love his books so much. It's made me want to follow his work and explore the world looking for more fantastic beasts that weren't around when he was writing his book." Darci loved his works. Neut was her idol. Everything he did fascinates her to no end. She knew that there wasn't much she could do now, but someday she'll be the one to continue his studies.

Savanna heard Darci's reply to her question about Newt Scammander and was over joyed. She pulled a copy of his book out from a leather bag she always had by her side. She opened it to the page on the swooping evil. "This is one of my favorite creatures, what about you? What is one of your favorite?" She looked at the well drawn picture of the swooping evil and smiled. She loved the detail that newt had displayed throughout his book. She thought up another question, but first she had suddenly needed to sneeze. She turned to the side and sneezed, one, two, three, four five, six times in a row. She shook her head in recovery then asked,"If you could have one of these beasts as a pet, which one would you chose and why?" She asked curiously. In her mind she debated over several different species. She thought about a kelpie, but remembered that according to German myth, kelpies ate humans and wizards. She had no intention of becoming some creatures breakfast. She flipped a few more pages to the niffler. Her eyes lit up tremendously. she looked at the picture and whispered, "he is so cute!" She loved the niffler, but did not neglect the fact that a niffler was nothing but a bundle of cute trouble.

She opened it to the page on the swooping evil. "This is one of my favorite creatures, what about you? What is one of your favorite?" She looked at the well drawn picture of the swooping evil and smiled.
"May I?" Darci gently took over the possession of the book and flipped to the page on Occamy. "I find these creatures to be absolutely breathtaking. Their multi-colored scales are gorgeous. Don't you agree?" Darci stared at the page a few seconds longer.

"If you could have one of these beasts as a pet, which one would you chose and why?" She asked curiously.
"That's a hard question. Each creature has it's own strengths and weaknesses. It's almost impossible to pick just one creature. I want to adopt at least one of each creature within my lifetime." Darci looked back up at Savanna, seeing the wonder in the young girl's eyes made Darci overjoyed. She'd never found anone quite like Savanna.
