The Best Gift Ever Pet

After receiving her Hogwarts letter, there was only one thing for Laasya to do; go shopping for supplies at Diagon Alley. So that’s what Laasya and her parents did a week or so before the new term started. Her parents first had to visit Gringotts to exchange their muggle money into wizard money. Then the trio started to shop around. They first had to go to Flourish and Blotts for Laasya’s textbooks. Then to Madam Malkin for her robes and then to Ollivanders for her wand. After an hour or so of shopping and wandering, her parents made an unexpected turn into Magical Menagerie which was a pet shop. Laasya was confused, pets were not a mandatory item on the shopping list. As soon as they entered the shop, Laasya was hit with the sound of about a hundred animals. Pygmy puffs, transforming bunnies, cats, rats, toads, owls and more were lined up in cages. “This is our gift from us to you, for your time at Hogwarts.” her father said “But please don’t choose something dangerous, we are not a zoo.” Her mother added. Well, it would have been impossible for Laasya to choose something dangerous considering she was stuck deciding at one area of the shop. “What should I get?” Laasya thought to herself, “An owl or a toad?” But eventually after what seemed like a million years, Laasya decided to make a decision. She knew that she would not be able to choose again, as only one pet was allowed. Something had caught her eye, a Silver Mackerel Tabby cat that had been minding it’s own business until Laasya came near it. Now, it was trying to get her attention by meowing at the volume of a police siren. Laasya approached her parents and said “Mom, dad, I choose a pet.” She finally said “That Silver Mackerel Tabby over there in the corner. Her mother , who had been investigating the nutritional value of an owl treat, looked up and replied “That’s great dear!” Laasya’s father, who had been waiting outside due to the noise said “Well come on, what are you waiting for? 2026?” They approached the counter where the owners; Ernest and Anita Wittcker were sitting with smiles on their faces. “10 galleons” Ernest Witticker said cheerfully, happy that another student was getting their dream pet. Laasya’s parents paid the 10 galleons and after saying bye to the owners, exited the shop and continued with the rest of their shopping. After they reached home and Laasya started packing her trunk, her mother said “You almost forgot, the cat needs a name.” Laasya replied “I choose Pearl, because it sounds pretty.” “Okay, Pearl it is, now get packing, or else you will leave your potions textbook here itself.” Her mother scolded gently. Laasya added the textbook to her trunk and snuggled her new cat, it was the best gift ever.
