Christmas Wishes
Hi Mum and Dad,
I know it’s been a while since I last wrote to you but I’ve been busy with schoolwork. You know how it is, all the exams come right before the holidays. At least their finally coming to an end. My last exam is Herbology, fingers crossed I do well.
I’m doing well in my lessons overall. We learned how to brew antidotes in Potions yesterday. Someone bumped into me and I almost spilled my cauldron over! What a disaster that would have been, luckily I caught myself in time and saved my work. I believe my potion was one of the best in the class but I won’t tell the others (of course).
I’ve been spending more time trying to make friends with others, especially others in Slytherin, hopefully I can find one or two people to become really close to. A best friend, you know. I met another first-year girl called Rosalyn in the common room the other day as well as an older boy named Felix. Rosalyn already seems to have plenty of friends so maybe she can introduce me to some of them.
I’m looking forwards to coming home for the holiday. I miss you both so so much and can’t wait to return to my own room. My own bed, my own walls. Besides, I’ve been thinking, could we get a pet? Perhaps a cat. They don’t require much looking after unlike dogs but are still fun. I was asking because I noticed that others brought pets with them to Hogwarts and I would like to have one of my own. If you are alright with it we could get one from that store in diagonal alley. The small, dank one we always pass on the way to gringotts. It doesn’t have to be a fancy one, as long as it’s friendly.
The weather has been quite miserable, cold, wet and foggy, but what else can you expect. We’re in the middle of Scotland in winter. At least it’s snowing. Hopefully the weather isn’t as bad at home but I guess I’ll find out soon enough. Could we not go somewhere a bit warmer next year? Maybe Australia or something? Away from the miserable cold.
Are we gathering with the whole family for Christmas Eve and day again like last year? I can’t wait to see Bella and little Flynn again. Ooh, and more relatives means more presents. You are getting me multiple presents right? Having only one while everyone else has four or more would be depressing. You wouldn’t want me to be depressed, would you? Besides, I’m your only daughter and it doesn’t hurt to splurge every once in a while.
