Whatever, Robin thought bitterly to herself as she trudged through the halls. She'd just had a particularly nasty altercation with a third-year student who'd called her cat's name stupid. She'd been at a loss for words at first, almost deciding against responding altogether when the boy had continued by insulting her blood status as a muggle-born. It was a trite insult, honestly, and she didn't feel the need to defend herself in most situations like this, but he had slipped into one of her soft spots, going for the chink in her armor. Not only had he insulted Robin... he'd insulted her cat! Granted, the name was a bit silly - Tabby, the Tabby Cat. She'd coined the name Tabitha as the official name for her feline friend so the cat could have a bit more respect amongst the other cat population... but Robin had called her Tabby when she was just a tiny kitten hidden in a bush outside her home, so Tabby has stuck. She didn't care what some stinky boy who was only looking for a few laughs from his blubbering friends thought. That's when the vicious badge that she keeps on the front of her satchel gave her a particularly nasty insult to say in return, and Gods forbid she ever keep her mouth shut, she said it with a wicked smirk, instantly shutting the boy's trap. She'd promptly turned around with a swish of her hair and tromped away, irritable and ready to blow off steam somewhere. The group of boys behind her were making a ruckus, obviously not done attempting to toy with her, but she'd decided the conversation to be over. She was a bit too worked up to actually converse with any of her friends, so wandering the halls of the school seemed a perfectly rational choice.

It was as she approached the edge of a larger staircase that she halted, remembering something that felt pertinent for the moment, recalling the words as they flickered through her mind. Robin closed her eyes, not really caring that she was in the middle of the staircase and blocking the path down the stairs, and remembered. Her fingers trailed an empty path of connecting dots in the air as she tried to recall the words her oldest brother, Dennis, had said to her in his most recent letter in response to her inquiry about whether she should keep writing their father.

He'd written, You gotta stop expecting good things from people who disappoint you, Rob. Do what you need to, but don't burn for people who wouldn't burn for you.

And damn, it had stuck with her. Whether she was willing to admit Dennis was right or not was another thing altogether.

Slightly calmed down, Robin was about to open her eyes once more to continue her silent walk around the school when she felt a heavy pressure on her back, causing her body to fling forward and for her feet to tumble over themselves - thick boots squeaked against the marble ground. Then, before she knew it, Robin was flying.

Portraits were soaring by as her head fell below her feet in a terrifying descent toward the ground below, the railings shooting past in an array of straight lines, adding to the uneasy vertigo coursing through her body. On pure instinct alone, and the terrifying possibility that she would fall flat on her face in front of what felt like the entire school's population, Robin reached her arm out toward one of the solid railings and grasped it tightly. She instantly regretted her decision as she felt the horrendous sensation of the ripping of her right shoulder's muscles and the succinct pop that signified the dislocation of the bone. The momentum her body had built as she flew down the stairs sent her face straight towards the wall. Robin barely avoided her face from slamming into the wall purely by an act of refined, unfiltered will and determination to prevent needing to be saved.

As the adrenaline filtered out of Robin's body, the pain kicked in. She felt an ache in her neck from the effort it took to prevent her face being bashed in, and her shoulder throbbed as her bone grinded inside her skin against a spot it was not supposed to be in. Internally, she was groaning and thrashing. The pain was overwhelming, the anxiety of failing so badly in front of so many people churned, and the knowledge that she would inevitably need to visit the hospital wing and ask for help.... ugh. The eyes of various students were on her as they circumvented her to reach their destination, left hand cradling her right arm as she sat on the bottom step, gnashing her teeth to keep from showing any signs of weakness. Of course, she'd taken a tumble down the longest flight of stairs. Of course, nobody would stop to ask if she was okay. Of course, she needed to immediately get up and retreat to her dorm room before anyone could perceive her existence any further. And then she remembered. The brief pressure of something... of someone shoving her down the steps!

Fury replacing the embarrassment and overbearing pain she felt, she jumped to her feet and looked around her position. When she found out who pushed her, oh, they were in for a treat. She was feeling absolutely murderous. Face pinched and curls haphazardly bouncing around her frame, Robin whirled in circles as she yelled without a care for who was judging her. Her injured arm hung uselessly and numb on the right side of her body, only being held in place by her left hand.

"Which one of you prats pushed me down the bloody effing stairs, huh?!?" She made direct eye contact with a trembling red-headed first-year who skirted around her and ran for the exit as she flinched (and winced) at him, fists balled and face red.
