Azrael is NOT a dhampir or a vampire, he's just weird, his skin is sensitive to the sun because he and his family are loners and prefer going out sometimes at night only because it usually means that not a lot of people are around, which has caused his skin to not get used to the sun properly and thus now it gets red and irritated when he's out during the day if he doesn't have any protection from the sun- yes, he's considered unsettling and eerie but it's not his aura, it's his eyes, they're big and owl like and he has a bad habit of accidentally spacing out and staring at people intently when they talk, so people consider him eerie, this was placed here to prevent misunderstandings.
________________________§______________________
Azrael didn't get any sleep last night, not because he was up and about messing around the castle- but because he's spent the entire night gathering evidence that he and his parents are not bad people, that he's not associated with "evil" creatures and that they're not criminals- by the time he decided to take a break it was already morning time.

Still, that doesn't bother him at all, if anything he's glad morning caught up to him- he was one of the first ones up, quietly making his way to the Great hall with a small black envelope clutched in his hand.

He remembers where Anna usually sits, after all- he's never seen her sit anywhere BUT there, so it makes sense to leave the letter there, she'd for sure see it if he leaves it on her chair.

After a few seconds of looking, his big, owl like eyes finally landed on her usual seat...the left corner of the Hufflepuff table, back turned to the ravenclaw table.

His eyes seem wider than usual, almost unsettlingly so- not because he's scared or excited, but because the place is bright and he didn't get any sleep last night so it's clear he's fighting back sleep while trying to get used to the bright lights coming in through the window.

There's barely anyone up this early, so he needs to hurry before people wake up and start heading down to eat breakfast.

Quickly- he made his way over to the Hufflepuff table, pulling back Anna's usual chair and placing the black envelope neatly on it, making sure to put a small rock he brought from outside on top of it so it wouldn't accidentally fall.

He had spent AGES finding proof of everything Anna seemed to think about him and his family...but here, the first letter was addressing the rumour that was thought to be of them being entangled in something shady- this one was the hardest to prove, so it was the one he wanted her to look at first.

As he sat down and waited for her to arrive, he couldn't help but feel sad, something he doesn't feel often ...if at all, he's still young, still learning- he's always been calm, but even though he won't admit it...this is probably making him upset, not because he cares about the rumours- but because he tried his best to make a friend, he thought he did everything right and still...he can't exactly escape the rumours surrounding him and his family- he doesn't care about them when he's not around friends, he even finds them entertaining sometimes if he's bored...

But with Anna? It hurts, he doesn't understand what he's feeling...he's never felt this way, EVER.

Why is his chest tight? Why is his vision blurry? Is he getting sick, perhaps? Maybe he should visit the nurse later today.

But it feels like it's getting worse the more he thinks about what happened...he misses his parents, they'd know what to do- they'd know about what he's feeling, right? They always know.

He could feel his pupils getting larger, something that happens to him whenever he's feeling anything but calm.

It's almost like staring at a void doll, something still that looks ready to burst down crying...not dramatically, but you can tell by how stiff he is that one wrong move WILL probably make him head down to the nurse with wet cheeks, thinking he's dying after the first few tears escaped his eyes.

Not that it's happened yet ..so maybe it's not too late to go back to his usual calm.

He's never felt upset by anything, not danger, not death, not the cold or having to leave his parents to go to Hogwarts...but now? After having his very first friend? It hurts knowing that he didn't do anything wrong and still got screwed over- the only thing that has ever managed to make him show some sort of emotion apart from calm, has always been related to people believing he or his family are bad people.

He could never understand why anyone would think that...

Quickly, he went back to his usual calm- as if nothing had happened, why? Because he realized that students were starting to pour in and settle down for breakfast...he doesn't care if they see him cry, but he doesn't want his vision to be blurry when Anna finds the letter, so if she doesn't believe what's in it- he can at least talk to her about it.

the letter he left wasn't long, but it did have a few things...

Reducio
Written inside it with black ink: "Good morning, Anna."

"I was hoping you'd read this soon, I apologize in advance for leaving it in your seat as I am well aware that you do not wish to see me, talk to me, or even hear about me."

"But I have been made aware of the rumours surrounding me and my family, I understand why you might be hesitant to be seen with me after what you've heard, but I assure you that it is all false."

"My parents are not criminals, we go out at night not because we are practicing shady things but because we enjoy the peace and quiet the night brings, it's peaceful to be just the 3 of us walking around at night, and we enjoy being able to do our own thing without having to worry about running into anyone, after all- my mother hates running into anyone she knows unless she accepted to a meetup prior to heading out."

"She's never been one for small talk you see."
______________________•∆•______________________attached to the bottom of the letter were a few tickets to multiple nightly activities and events, usually ones that are quiet and mostly empty, all dated to the nights he and his family were supposedly "out doing shady things".

The letter continued:
_______________________•∆•_____________________"We enjoy going out from time to time at night for different activities, they're usually hosted near the closest town we live by."

"I apologize for the misunderstanding, if you wish to talk...then you're free to approach my table, I don't wish to invade your personal space knowing you do not wish to see me."

"-kind regards, Azrael."

There was a tiny, almost dried up tear staining the edge of the letter, as if it had accidentally slipped and he quickly tried to wipe it away.

Now, inside the black envelope was a small piece of candy, flat enough to fit inside the envelope but big enough to be seen easily.

It was wrapped neatly on a transparent piece of plastic, sitting right next to a moving photograph of Beautiful weeping willow, it seemed to be one of the places Azrael enjoyed going to at night, as there were lights hanging from the branches.

Hopefully, Anna reads it, because all he can do right now is wait.

The morning sky was limpid, clear and bright when a small group of students entered the Great Hall and sitted down in their respective tables, soon followed by a bigger crowd of early birds who woke up fast enough that they arrived to breakfast in the very second it began. Anna was part of this second group of people. She walked fast, trying to hurry to her seat before someone could take it; the very same seat she had used this entire year and the last one. She had already suffered with people not knowing that the seat on the left corner of the Hufflepuff table, the one she sits with her back turned to the ravenclaw table, was already hers by default and nobody else could stay there. If they did... Well... It's not like she could kick them out by force, so she would just awkwardly stand by the corner of the hall, waiting for them to leave so she could eat. Simply sitting somewhere else was out of question; the new scenario she'd have to see, the new feelings and smells it'd bring, and the idea of being compressed by two other people was overwhelming, unthinkable. As such, to avoid any potentially uncomfortable situations, she always tried to arrive earlier to the Great Hall so that others wouldn't have time to sit on "her" place.
At first, she didn't notice the envelope. She wasn't even paying attention at her surroundings, as during the morning she preferred to turn inwards and focus on herself, since she quickly learned the external world tended to be loud, crowded, bright, an attack on her senses, and she didn't need that type of excess right at morning. Because of this, she chose to focus on herself to forget such things existed, and would often carry around her penguin plush with her during the day, so that she had a companion at all times and something to distract her from external stimulation and redirect her energy to, if she felt overwhelmed.
And yet, when she looked down at her seat, she saw something black. Small. There was a small rock on top of it, one that at least in Anna's eyes, was rather aesthetically pleasing... Well, for the standards of a rock, that is. She removed it and picked up the envelope, sitting down to read it with the plushie on her lap. It had a small, flat piece of candy in it, which the hufflepuff didn't immediately consume, but was pleasantly surprised by.
Well, the letters from relatives came from owls during breakfast so this definitely wasn't from her family. But in that case... who wrote it? Was it even for her?
... The letter was addressed to her, and before she read the letter, she searched for its writer, who only presented his name at the end of the letter.
Azrael.
Azrael Holloway.

It was a name that reflected well upon his eyes. It sounded dark and otherworldly, like the gentle rays of moonlight during nights of full moon, like the blissful feeling just before sunrise that brings the most friendly and bleak angels to your side, an embrace of life with all the goods and bads of it, like the feeling of cold hands of a loved one on your skin in a warm room.
Azrael Holloway.

Anna froze for only a second without realizing she did, and closed her eyes as if it'd make the stain that was this sudden reminder of reality disappear.
Hadn't she made it clear she wanted him to leave her alone? Hadn't he said that if that's what she wanted, he'd go away and stop bothering her? It's what she wanted and made clear she did. Why did he insist on making this difficult? Did he just want to annoy her? They hadn't even met for that long, so what was making him that insistent?
... The letter began crumbling in Anna's hand, although she neither meant or wanted that. Still, she sighed and relaxed her muscles, stopping the paper from folding any more. "It's not that big of a deal," she thought, "it's just a letter. It's not going to kill me. I should just read it."
She ignored the food on her table, and began reading the letter with an expression somewhere between bored and tense. However, it grew increasingly focused the further she got.

There... Appears to be a misunderstanding between the families. However, as she finished the letter, her relief was... Negligible. She ignored that she wasn't sure if she ever trusted rumors as much as she trusted her family's decisions regardless of her own beliefs. And despite everything, a question remained on her mind.
"How am I even supposed to say this to my family?"
How high was the possibility that they'd accuse him of being a creep if she said he still sent her a letter? Or that she'd cause conflict again without even being able to have a say in it? As her mother taught her over and over again, reputation matters just as much as the real facts. If people believe something is true for long enough, it essentially will be. If a lie is told times enough, it becomes true. How willing were they of changing their minds if she showed them the absolute truth?
Anna didn't want to say this through a letter. Not just because the years-long misunderstanding was a little hard to explain, but also because she wanted to be there to speak, see, hear, not just see the results through a piece of paper.
She stood up, and left.
Anna still held the candy with no intention to eat it, and didn't discard either the letter or the rock. She felt as though she'd need them to reflect further on this and figure out how she felt. Stuck in her own mind, she didn't spare a glance to either Azrael, or anyone else, and didn't even realize she harshly bumped on a smaller ravenclaw girl, and continued her way without an apology.

She didn't even look at his face. She didn't even hesitate before leaving. She didn't consider talking to him like he suggested in the letter. She simply took everything and stormed out, as though she didn't even consider him to be in that room. She didn't plan on talking to him to fix this whole situation even though he had been the one to do most of the work to go after her.
Still, in the following morning, when he sitted down at his usual seat, maybe... Maybe he'd so very happen to find a flower crown made of different species of jasmines, next to two dahlias entranced together, one white and another black. In that day, she also wouldn't look at him willingly in the hall, or in the corridors.
