Finally a letter solo

The weather has cooled down as winter was soon starting. Since the holidays were coming Rose thought it would be a nice time to (finally) send a letter to her parents. That would be the first letter since she has arrived at Hogwarts. She felt a bit ashamed but remembered what she was told and that everyone had their own pace.

She headed towards the owlery trying to beat the coolness that was freezing the tip of her nose and her cheeks as she put her hand in her coat pockets to keep them warm. As she was breathing mist was forming in the air.

Not soon after she reached the owlery where she found a spot to sit down and to start writing her long-awaited letter.
Dear Mom and Dad,

I hope this letter finds you well.

It has already been some months I am at Hogwarts and I'm getting used to it along all the agitation within the castle. Although it can be quite overwhelming sometimes and as you know I prefer quiet places I still enjoy it a lot. -It's magnificent.- The library has become my nook either to study, read or draw. It has even happened I felt asleep. When I am not in the library I'm going out for a walk near the Great Lake as the cool weather refreshes me and helps me to clear up my mind. During autumn the colours of the leaves were beautiful giving a breathtaking view from each side of the lake bank. As surprisingly as it is I have climbed a tree with a new -best- friend -whose name is like a king name it's Zephyrus- from where I could admire the magnificent view. I hope to be able to renew this little gateway.

These days the weather has nevertheless cooled down making it almost freezing while going out. Nonetheless the sky is clear at night allowing me to often stargaze. It relieves me and reminds me of home. Although not with Ewan as we used to.

Speaking of him, Ewan and I have not been able to see each other often although we are in the same house. We are both quite busy with our schedule and him even more especially with his Quidditch training. I hope to be able seeing him playing soon.

Also I suppose he may already have sent you a letter at the beginning of the year to let you know about here and my sorting which I was really happy about. -Dad another Ravenclaw in the family-.

As I mentioned earlier I made some friends and my classes are going well. I will tell you more about it during vacations as a letter is not enough to let you know about everything happening here.

How is Olen doing? I hope he is not missing me too much.

I'll be seeing you soon,

Lots of love,
Rose
It was the right time for Rose to finish her letter as her fingers and hand were freezing. She had taken her glove off to write as it was more comfortable letting her skin to the cool air. The letter appeared to be longer than she had expected. Maybe it was indeed the right time for her to write one. She may have needed it.

She carefully folded her letter to put it in an envelope before going to one of the school owl to attach the letter to its leg with care.

"Thank you!" she said to the owl before it took off as she watched it flying away.

Rose was freezing on the spot so she quickly made her way towards the castle.
