Happy Holidays Dad

December‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ 22nd, 2025
Hogwarts

Dear Dad,

I hope everything at home hasn’t been too dull without me to make a mess in the kitchen or to take half the biscuits that you keep telling me that you’re saving for “later.” I’m aware that you are putting in a lot of work this time of year, and although I understand, I still wanted to write you a letter. Even if it’s just to say that I miss being around for the holidays. The castle looks amazing this time of year with all the shining lights and the smell of cinnamon and pine. However, it's not the same as when I get to wake up to that terribly singing snowman that you always put out every December.

I am not mad at the fact that I cannot be home. I understand the reason. I just... wish there was another way. I wish we had at least one proper holiday morning together. Perhaps, we could have our own late Christmas in July then. I wont even complain about your cooking. ‘Well, I won’t complain that much.’

Things have been going well at school. Just a bit hectic. And there is something that I have been meaning to tell you, I thought you might think its funny. At the Fall Ball, Avery (the girl I told you about over the summer) and I ended up dancing… not on the dance floor. Not even close. It seems that we somehow got carried away and started dancing on the deck of the pirate ship that they had magically brought there for the ball. We didn’t even realize that we were in the wrong place until a person who was passing by looked at us as if we had just started dancing the waltz on a table. I mean, It was probably one of the best times I had during the whole year. The lanterns were moving, the lake was shining, and Avery, well, she looked beautiful and seemed really happy. And I guess I was really happy too. I was close to tripping over her dress twice. You would have called me a “clumsy mess” or something.

Other than that its been just the usual stuff. I mean, classes are packed with last minute assignments, and the Ravenclaw common room is kind of chaotic. KodoPodo is back at it. He is snatching the quills off the first years again. I bet he is missing your socks though.

Dad, have you heard anything from Mom? Just you know. If you know anything about her being safe. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want. I just, thought I would ask. Anyway, I wish you some cozy moments during the holiday. And hope that you’ll eat at least one dish that’s home cooked and not takeaway. Don’t work too hard

Write me back whenever you can.

Merry ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Christmas,
Mikey
