A Small Short Story

A small short story I digged up from the abandoned crevices of my brain
Me and my class were at the museum for a field trip. We were shown around the museum by the tour guide, and then after, we sat down to sketch something. Leila, the class snitch, was sketching the Mona Lisa; Shawn, the bully, was sketching the picture of the Trojan War. I sat down to sketch the sarcophagus, when I noticed there was a button. I asked the guide what it was; she came and frowned at it in confusion “That’s strange, I’ve never seen that before! We probably shouldn’t press it-” But it was too late. I pressed it. A spiral chute opened at the bottom of the display. “Whoa!” I exclaimed, examining the chute. I opened my pencil case and found a marble with a black sphere in it. I dropped it inside the chute, waiting for it to hit the ground. Finally, I heard a faint ‘plink.’ I dropped some more random items, like erasers, Lego and a (ew) rotten banana peel (don’t judge). “Hey! D’you see that engravement?!” I turned around and saw Shannon pointing to a tiny symbol carved on the pedestal holding the mummy. “Uhh, I wouldn’t touch that if I were you-” The guide started to say, but it was too late. Shannon had already pressed the strange word. A strange creaking and banging started. “ CREEK! BONG! BONG! CREEK!!” Then, the noise stopped abruptly, and a dusty, moldy, grimy staircase appeared. “I’ll have to go down. Wait, grammar correction. I want to go down.” The guide looked nervous. “I’m not sure that's a good idea. You see, that staircase is who-knows-how-many-years old. There could be dangerous items inside. It was probably concealed for a reason!” I thought about it for a second. The guide has a good point, but I’m not unnerved. Just as I was about to step down, Shannon grabbed my arm. “ I’m not leaving you Jaxxon. Best friends stay together.” I smiled at Shannon. Together, we descended into the dark chute.

CHAPTER TWO
It took us ages, but we finally made it to the end. There was a maze in front of us. Shannon tugged on my sleeve, pointing to the air above the maze. “There! Do you see that black orb? There's a similar impression on the door over there. I think we have to somehow collect that orb so we can access that door.” I looked at her, and steeled my nerves. We’ve come a long way now, so there was no turning back now. “We should find a way to connect us , so we don’t get lost. Do you have something in your backpack?” I looked in my backpack and found a glowing crystal. I grabbed it and suddenly, I felt I was dissolving in the air. Then, I woke up.
