The early hours of a Monday were usually groggy and slow. Birds would chirp and sun would stream into the room far before the girl would awaken. But this time she had beat the sun, and the birds. Careful steps around the room, causing floorboards to squeak lightly under the shuffling of feet were heard in the small two-story house. Rising at the crack of dawn was not a pastime Annie enjoyed, but it was one she could manage when it was her big day. She had spent the previous morning packing a small briefcase filled with various phials, quills and ink pots, a ruler her dad had insisted upon taking, her wand, and a second pair of clothes plus her trusty dragon-hide gloves, her I.D and a jar of Floo powder. It was an odd assortment, yet she was quite unsure what her first day would entail. After double checking her belongings in her room, she snapped the briefcase shut one last time. A letter was clutched in her hands as she made her way down the stairs. It was a very important letter, one that had dictated her first step into her future life as an adult. It was a job acceptance letter signed with nothing but a date, time, and location. It read something along the lines of:
Her own letter merely read like this:I will be expecting your arrival at 9 in the morning on July 7th, use the Floo Network to my address.

I have not talked about dreams with you, they can be a silly thing, but I dream to follow in my grandmother's footsteps to become a Mediwizard. That being said, I am taking a year off to collect my thoughts before pursuing this extensive work field.
I am reaching to you in regard to finding work, as I would rather be doing something than wasting away studying, so that I don't descent into madness.
If you would so please, respond to me with a letter of acceptance or refusal. My address is: 49 Herbert Park, Kilbride, Bray, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.
Thank you,
Annie Morgan
The reply back was... disheartening to say the least. No form of excitement or entail for what she had gotten herself into. Yet it was a job nonetheless, she had successfully secured her first job all by herself. You'd think after spending 7 years in a school full of magic they'd help prepare you for life beyond the castle walls. Besides some nerve-wracking exams of which she barely passed, she felt anything but ready. This job wasn't even along the lines of where her interests lay, yet she had to do something, and her academic performance being sub-par was not helping her case. Such strong motivation and such little academic talent put her in a tough spot. Yet Professor Sauber had taken pity on her, and she wouldn't let him down, regardless of whatever tasks were thrown her way.
With a deep breath and a quick dust of her clothes, she was ready. Her attire was a plain white t-shirt with a flannel whose sleeves were buttoned and rolled up just beneath her elbows and a pair of blue jeans. She figured comfy was better than formal especially for this field of work. A small note was left on the counter under a vase of flowers, for her parents. Of course, her dad was already at their family-owned florist shop, but he would be so busy the likeliness of forgetting she went to work was quite high.
Unfortunately for her, since her dad was a Muggle, they could not afford having a Floo Network immediately in their home, and Annie didn't even attempt to pass the apparition test as that was a terrifying though to her with splinching, so she'd have to travel to the closest public location known to her. Transportation would be taken in pieces. First, she would take a transit that picked her up a few blocks from the house to the Bray Daly Railway station. Nearing a half an hour later, Annie had made it to Dublin, stepped off the train and rounded a few corners to a roaring pub.
After shuffling through her purse to provide verification that she was indeed 18, she used her briefcase in front of her as somewhat of a shield to not bump into unwanted company. Reaching out a hand, she'd feel the walls narrow as the hallway led back to the bathrooms. At the end of the hall, it split into a men and women's bathroom, but a giant roaring fireplace crackled and that caught her interest. Snapping open her briefcase, she'd located the jar and dump some dust into her hand. Reciting the address she had practiced over and over in her head a few times, the lick of the flames met her before the roar of the pub faded in the background.
Silence had greeted her as she stepped out of a smaller fireplace. Taking in a deep breath, she'd reach her hand out, bumping into some sort of wooden table and lay her briefcase down on it with a thump. After only an hour of travel, she had made it. Now, it was time to get acquainted and get to work.
