I walked down the corridor, away from the classroom, after a particularly interesting Transfiguration lesson, and I was about to go downstairs towards the library to do my homework, when I suddenly stopped, realising that I'd stupidly left my notebook in my seat. I thought for a few seconds, wondering what to do: Should I go back, possibly interrupting another class, or go back and get it later, when it might've possibly been stolen?
I decided to go back and get it, hoping that there wasn't another class.
I ran down the corridor, being careful to not crash into people who were walking past.
I entered into the classroom as quietly and quickly as possible, and went over to my seat. I leant over, reaching to get my notebook, before almost jumping in shock - there was someone sitting in the seat I usually sat in.
"Sorry" I whispered, "I left my notebook here at the end of my lesson."
I picked up my notebook, before looking back at the boy sitting in my seat. He had dark brown eyes, however the whites of his eyes were red, and they were slightly unfocussed. I carefully, and slowly waved my hand in front of his face.
"Hello?" I spoke normally, but still quieter than most people spoke "Are you all right?"

Potions was most certainly Caleb's worst class at Hogwarts. Handling what seemed to be dangerous chemicals off about two hours of sleep was just straight up dumb. Of course, though, the teacher had no idea of Caleb's nighttime situations that left him feeling like a zombie during the day. Nor would they or anyone else likely care; the professors are there to get paid, not to listen to the sob stories of a twelve year old who sounded five, talking about monsters.
So naturally, leaving Potions was a relief, at least, until he realized he had Transfiguration next. That class required concentration and a strong mental state, and currently, Caleb missed both requirements. He dragged his feet to Transfiguration.
When he reached the class, he sat at the seat he usually sat in, not failing to notice a notebook lied in front of him. The moment he sat down, Caleb felt his body trying to drift into unconsciousness. It was only natural when you hardly get any sleep because monsters you created torment you every time you shut your eyes. Part of Caleb wanted to give in and just fall asleep. A good, peacful sleep Caleb has not had in almost a year would be absolutely euphoric. But the larger, wiser part of Caleb told himself to stay awake. It doesn't just happen at night. Anytime he lets his guard down, they will arrive. And he won't be able to get rid of them.
Making Caleb flinch, a Caucasian girl with brown hair reached across him to grab the book he had seen upon entrance of the classroom. Caleb stared at her, his brain still tired, forgetting when to tell him to look away. She whispered something about her notebook, but Caleb didn't really hear her, as he still wasn't fully focused into the scenario.
The girl looked back at Caleb, and like an idiot, he just kept staring. She waved a hand in front of Caleb's face as if he was drunk. Caleb couldn't help but smile the tiniest bit as he looked away.
"Hello?" She said, somewhat softly. "Are you all right?"
What a question. He didn't know her, so of course he was going to lie.
"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine. Why?" He immediately thought about apologizing; he didn't know why he sounded so defensive. He tried a different tactic.
"Are you new hear? I haven't seen you before." As usual, he was just barely holding eye contact, his eyes just kind of floating around, looking around.
This girl probably thought Caleb was some sort of psychopath.

Are you ok?
I almost jumped when he turned away. I was almost certain that he was in a trance, so I hadn't even considered the fact that he might've been watching me. How embarrassing.
When he said that he was fine, I knew that he must've been lying - it was obvious that he wasn't okay, however, I didn't want to say anything about it, worried that he would be even more angry-sounding.
After he asked "Why?", I was silent for a few moments, thinking about my words, before saying, "You looked extremely annoyed to be in Transfiguration. Which, I personally don't get, being pretty much a complete nerd. But, I have heard a lot of people say that they hate it."
When he asked if I was new at Hogwarts, I smiled a little bit, before saying "No, I'm in my second year. But, I'm usually either in a lesson, outside, or in the library."
I looked at him seeing how he just seemed to be looking aimlessly around the room which was slightly odd, but better than any shy person's worst nightmare - prolonged eye contact.
I paused for a few seconds, looking round the room to see if anyone else was coming in for a lesson, not wanting to get told off by a teacher for disturbing a class. Then, I turned back to him. "What about you? Are you a first year?"
