The library at Hogwarts is supposed to have information of every kind, but Derek couldn't find a spell that would let him stay up forever and never get tired. Maybe he was asking too much, but he didn't care. He had to somehow find time to finish his homework, read, study, feed and adore Perseus, his owl. Oh, and eat, plus socializing so he didn't seem like a weird kid who practically lived in the library and barely talked. Although, that was probably still true, since all of those applied to him.

He was reading something from his Herbology textbook, his head drooping lower and lower.
Derek could make out something about how many European plants were edible. He started to copy it down, but his eyes threatened to close forever. Many European plants are edible- Shk. His quill broke. Derek cursed in Greek, reaching towards his satchel for a new one. He restarted his homework, checking his textbook again and again.

When he finally finished, it was already eight o'clock. Derek knew he should go soon, but he just sat in his chair, enjoying the fresh smell of parchment. He put his Herbology homework into his satchel, when he noticed he still had to do his DADA homework. Derek breathed out heavily and flipped open his DADA textbook, labouring over the swimming words. He quickly scribbled on the parchment, pausing now and then to check the textbook. He was so focused, he finished it in 15 or so minutes.

Derek checked the table to make sure he had no more homework, and then breathed a sigh of relief. Finally he finished his homework! He gathered up all his things, and then got some books he wanted for a bit of light reading. He smirked when he thought of what his friends would say. Light reading? I thought that's how you get to sleep! Derek hurried out of the library, saying good bye.
