An Attempt
Sonya walked onto the flying grounds clutching a school broom she had borrowed. She was slightly nervous to be out flying on her own for the first time, but she knew what she was doing. Typically she flew with her father, or in class. She was nervous about lacking supervision, but nothing would go off the rails with her. Sonya wasn't much of a daredevil and wouldn't try anything too extreme, she'd just be flying a few laps to get more comfortable on a broom. She had flown a bit before, with varying success, and was exited to do it more often. Many kids dreamed of flying, but for her it as a reality and she was determined to make the most out of it.
Sonya first examined her broom, as she was told to do in class. Once she was sure there was nothing off about the broom she summoned it and mounted it carefully. She then kicked of the ground lightly and flew slightly above the ground, hovering to get warmed up. She then went back to the ground and kicked off yet again, a bit harder this time. She did it! She was above the ground flying. Although she was a bit shaky, it was just an attempt, it would get better with time. She flew around for a bit, maintaining control, then went back to the ground ready to do the whole thing over again.

An Attempt
Sonya lifted off and did another small lap. She was enjoying the feel of flying, it was quite peaceful. She touched down again and heard someone greeting her. "Hi Sonya!" someone was yelling. She dismounted the broom then turned around and saw it was her friend Stella. The girl ran towards her with a smile and Sonya grinned. She got along well with Stella and always wanted to talk more with her but she never saw her around much. Bumping into her here was great!
Stella complimented her on her flying and finally slowed down and took a breath. "Hi Stella," Sonya greeted with a big smile on her face, "Thanks. Everything's been pretty good! Classes are going well and I've been exploring lots of Hogwarts. It's good to see you! How have you been?"
As Sonya recalled, Stella really liked flying. She hadn't seen her flying but she was probably really good at it. She also seemed like a person who could take risks so she probably could do some nifty tricks on a broom as well. Sonya wasn't the type for daredevil stuff, but it would be fun to watch. She hoped that Stella could show her what she could do.
