private with Stella Rose.

this thread takes place in the past, three years before going to Hogwarts.

𝓞f course the wind with its cold and harsh force was unrelenting that day. And, of course it was raining, the sky covered in clouds so dark it felt funny to even thing for a second that there was a shining sun behind it.

The funeral reception was supposed to be in the park.

To be fair, it was also supposed to be sunny and warm.

Instead, due to the unfortunate weather, the reception had been moved inside, to the small building on the same lot as the grassy park. But Talia was never in the mood for big social events, especially after a funeral. So, she stayed outside in the pouring rain, sitting there quiet and cold in her fancy dress, only a cardigan to keep her warm. And she was completely soaked.

The sweet brunette kept silent for a while. It could have been a minute, could have been an hour. She had lost all sense of time a while ago. It was as if she felt that if she was quiet enough, she could bring her grandmother back to life. As if she would wake up, and it would have all just been a dream.

A really bad dream.

The dark-haired girl jumped as she saw a figure in the dying light.

She wasn't sure how she got there, but then again, over the sound of the rainfall, Talia was sure a sneaky enough kid could have gotten away with a quiet approach.

"I'm really very hungry. Do you have any food you can spare to save a life?"

As Talia heard that, her heart beat a little faster. To save a life? Of course she had to do something.

"Of course. Come with me, I'm sure there's something inside."

Talia hopped off of the bench, holding out her tiny little hand for the stranger. She noticed the hesitation in the girl's eyes, so she stretched out her arm a little more, emphasizing that she was holding it out for her to take.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you," Talia said softly, smiling. It was like the time she'd adopted a stray puppy.

As she gently opened the door to the reception, Tal was glad to see that no heads really turned towards her. It wasn't a big deal, but it would be easier to not have to answer any questions.

Leading the girl through the large room to the buffet table, she held out a plate for her.

"Uh, so there's like, Italian, and then Asian, and Chinese, and uh, is that supposed to be Greek? Anyways, there's a lot of food. Too much. So have as much as you want," she mumbled gently.

"I'm Talia, by the way," she added as they walked along the buffet table. Talia had only grabbed one thing. A green apple. Reaching the hand that wasn't holding the fruit, Talia reached up to her neck, tugging on the rose gold necklace that hung around it. There was a little star charm on it.

The necklace came off smoothly, and Tal extended it towards the girl. "Friends?"

Her mother had always said Talia gave too much than what's good for her, but in Tal's opinion, it was just giving.
