Entering the wand shop, the front desk was empty. Leo wondered if this was normal, but then he remembered that when his half-sister, Annabeth Casper, bought her first wand, it was empty for her too. Leo took this time to look around the pretty tidy wand shop, until he saw the backroom, which had rows upon rows of wands on several hundred to thousands of bookshelves, or maybe Leo was just exaggerating the number. Finally, an awfully old fellow approached the desk and greeted Leo.

"Ah, Mr. Casper. I remember the day when your father and your mother, and your sister, all bought their first wands." Mr. Ollivander said to Leo. Or, at least, Leo assumed it was Mr. Ollivander. The old man vanished into the backroom before coming back out with a box. Leo took the wand from the old man's shaking fingers and gave it a wave. Leo jumped when a mirror broke. He apologized before giving the wand back, but Ollivander waved off the apology. Leo tried another wand, and this time, the window nearest to Leo broke. Finally, on the third wand, instead of anything breaking, it glowed.

"Ah, yes. Mayhaw wood and dragon heartstring. An excellent fit for a young wizard like yourself. It's swishy and ideal for casting defensive and protective charms. I'm sure you'll take excellent care of this wand." Mr. Ollivander said after the wand had chosen Leo.

"Thank you. And sorry for breaking the mirror and the window." Leo said as he paid Mr. Ollivander more than what the wand actually cost, since Leo did feel guilty for breaking two pieces of glass. Leo placed his wand back inside the box and left the wand shop, with his hand in hand, excited to use it when he goes to school.
