New enemies... I guess

Lenora had breathed a sigh of relief after her last lesson. Friday had become her favorite day of the week. It was a small escape from the stifling hours of class, and it was difficult to look at the blackboard without squinting.

She put the parchments, the Transfiguration book, and the quill into her bag and waited for the other students to leave. When they did, Lenora rose from her seat and left the classroom.

She wandered absently down the corridor. 'Maybe I could go to the rehearsal room and clear my head. That way, I wouldn't have a chance to make a mistake.'

Lost in thought, she felt herself hit something and fell to the ground. Her face flushed when she realized she had bumped into a student. She quickly squinted his eyes to gather her belongings, and as she did so, she began to speak.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you. I was distracted and boom... I'm so sorry."

She continued to apologize as she stood up. Lenora tried not to make eye contact with the student because she felt her own eyes twitching and she didn't want the student to see it.

I was walking towards class, in a particularly nasty mood. Why, you may ask? Because today marked exactly 5 months since my retched mother had perished so tragically, so suddenly, to use the words of my father. I wanted to gag. That was my level of disgust. I was storming through the corridors, lost in a sea of misery and frustration, when all of a sudden, a white figure bumped into me, causing myself to go unbalanced and thus, losing control of my book bag, which ripped open and spilled all of my supplies.

Could this day get any worse? Apparently so, for the figure in white, a young first year girl it looked like, started stammering out apologies while attempting to grab her own books. I snarled.

“Seriously?! Watch where you’re going! Who do you think you are? People are walking here ya know? We can’t all daydream.”

I ripped into her, not caring about the fact that some of the other students were watching and staring at us.
I snapped at another first year “Mind your own business!”
They immediately backed off and left me alone. I whirled back towards the other girl an immediately started picking up my own stuff, muttering insults under my breath every now and then.

When she looked at the girl, her green hair with a black front caught her attention. She couldn't help but think that she'd overdone it. After all, the items would be collected quickly and the bag could be bought again. Lenora frowned whitely and spoke

"Uhm, I just accidentally bumped into you and I don't think I'm anything. This is a school after all and people bumping into each other is normal."

Her voice was unintentionally harsh when she said this. Meanwhile, the crowds started to grow. Lenora didn't feel comfortable with this situation. Seeing the girl scolding someone her own age, she said, "You really don't have to be so rude. I think you think you're someone else and you take your anger out on others."

When she spoke, she realized that she was speaking from outside, not from within, and her voice came out with anger. She knew she would regret this later, but for some reason she liked the anger inside her right now. Lenora had simply assumed that the girl who had objected had been upset before.

"Stop insulting people."

Even though she wanted to go too far, she tried to restrain herself somehow. Her eyes started to tremble again.

I glared wholeheartedly at the other girl. She was actually justifying the fact that she was clearly not paying attention to where she was going and stated in what she must have thought was a harsh voice that people bumped into each other all the time.

She was reprimanding me like a child when she started saying that I shouldn’t be so rude or some shit like that. Do I look like I care? Do I look like someone who gives a shit about being rude to other people. If she didn’t want me to be rude to other people, she shouldn’t have been in my way just as I was about to get into class.

I glared at her, my scowl turning into a full fledged vampire-like snarl when she just started spewing stuff about how I shouldn’t insult people. I was not in the mood for this. If only she had backed down and left me in peace. Sadly, she decided to play the hero. Decided to play the avenging angel to the group of kinds where were currently half terrified, half hoping for a fistfight, behind me. Well, she would learn exactly why I was sorted in Gryffindor. She would learn why it was exactly that no one, one one crossed Nyx Blackheart. I stalked up to her, towering over her thin frame.

"Are you serious? Tell me, if you were having the worst possible day, in all of Merlin, would you like to be toppled over by some idiot who can’t help themselves but look up at the sky like they’ve got all the time in the world. I don't freaking care if I was rude, those people deserved it anyways. Stay out of my way, or you’ll regret it. Got that?” I stared at her, drilling holes in her face with my eyes.
