Cassians History of Magic
Sarah pushed her glasses further up her nose as she stepped carefully into the train corridor, scanning each compartment with curious, dark brown eyes. Her arms were wrapped tightly around a stack of books — Hogwarts: A History perched on top — and her trunk had been safely stowed with the help of an older student. She paused at one compartment where a boy about her age sat by the window, the countryside blurring behind him.
"Um... hi," she said, gently tapping the glass with her knuckle before sliding the door open a crack. "Mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is kind of full — or loud."
She gave a slightly awkward smile, shifting her books against her chest.
"I'm Sarah. First year. Ravenclaw," she added quickly, as though reciting a line she'd practiced. Once he nodded (or at least didn't object), she slipped inside and took the seat across from him, placing her books beside her.
After a few moments of silence she glanced at him again. “Were you thinking about Quidditch just now? You looked kind of... focused,” she asked, her voice a mix of curiosity and encouragement. “I’ve read a lot about it, but I’ve never actually seen a match. I’m sort of hoping Ravenclaw has a good team this year.”
