The Dangerous Greenhouse Solo

Sienna ran through the castle stone corridors, her heart beating fast with a combination of fear and delight. Yes, it was Herbology for the first time, and she was so sure of herself that she would not miss it. While tightly holding the books to her chest, her shoes made a sound as they hit the shiny floors. It was the first time she heard the stories about the castle’s greenhouses—immense rooms packed with magical plants that can heal, injure, or sometimes both in the same way—and she couldn’t stop herself from being a little scared.

At last, she got to the greenhouses’ section. Its enormousness made her stop for a moment. The light of the sun was everywhere through the high glass walls, and it was reflecting off the leaves and the petals of plants of every shade of green that you could think of. The air was heavily packed with the scents of earth, herbs, and something sweet and almost intoxicating as well. Plantings were endless in number and extent, and they were certainly not the things one would expect to find; some had flowers that reflected unusual colors, and some had roots that appeared to be animate and that were growing in a jerky manner.

Siena was clueless about which one to pick up so she peered along the path at the doors and trying to find out the one intended for her. Each door had a little brass sign with a name on it and she didn't know any of the names. With a lot of apprehension, she took a step toward the one she thought was the safest. A hand on the cool metal door handle and with a deep inhalation she moved it.

The door gave way with the help of the heater and it greeted Sienna with different aromas. This certainly wasn't a place she'd heard great things about housing the spikiest addition to the castle - alarming were the plants that snap, bite, or stir hallucination-inducing pollen real quick.

“Good grief,” she breathed out stepping inside the shadow of gargantuan, coiling plants loomed and seemed to be reaching out for her, their leaves whispering in a scary manner. Go on and run was what her every instinct told her but her curiosity kept her there. She somehow felt that this was not going to be an ordinary class.
