Solo Sienna Taken to Platform 9¾ by Her Father

The station was noisy, with trains rumbling, people chattering, and a whistle echoing far away. Edwin moved through the crowd, keeping a hand on his daughter’s shoulder. Sienna, holding her old trunk and an owl in a cage, was amazed by the big arches of King’s Cross.

“Platform Nine and Three-Quarters,” she said, reading her ticket. “But that’s not real.”

Edwin smiled. “Well, you can’t always see what’s real right away. Just wait.”

They stopped between Platforms Nine and Ten, by a brick pillar. Sienna looked confused. “You’re kidding, aren’t you?”

He shook his head. “Nope. If you’re scared, it’s best to run a little.”

Sienna grabbed her trolley handle, her heart pounding. The station noise went quiet as she ran toward the wall. She closed her eyes, sure she would crash—but the air changed, and she found herself in steam, facing a bright red train.

The Hogwarts Express was shiny in the morning sun. Witches and wizards were busy, hugging family, calling to friends, with cats and owls moving around trunks.

Edwin came up to her, both sad and pleased. “Go on, you’ll be great.”

Sienna hugged him. “I’ll write,” she said. "I'll miss you so much dad". her dad gives her his sack of gobstones as a goodbye gift.
