Hesitation of a Child
I was so excited, learning about being at an old school with hundreds of others like me. Packing everything I needed and kissing my father goodbye before heading to the station with my mother. Going through the wall was thrilling! My back getting chills from my brain being tricked I was about to ram straight into that brick wall.
"Mom the train...it's beautiful." My mother giggled, knowing she thought the same when she was just a little girl. I observed the edges and shapes of the train and watched the smoke coming out of the front. It was huge, something that I was definitely not use to after living in such a small town.
"Ok hon, you have fun ok? Remember to be nice to all the staff." I nodded with understanding and took a few steps toward it, but I stopped the moment I remembered that this may be the last time I see my mother for a long time. The train was beautiful with my head spinning with ideas on how it would look on the inside, but my face grew pale. My mother was everything to me, loving, supportive, and helping me be who I was at this present day, though it was my time to leave the nest. Turning to my mother, I run and wrap my arms around her torso. "I love you mom-" I didn't want to cry, but I felt my eyes burn from me holding the water back. She hugs me with the warm embrace I so crave, maybe she may be thinking the same thing? "I love you too honey, I'm going to miss you while your gone."
Some seconds pass before I finally felt brave. Looking away from my mother to grab my things and looked at her for a final time. She smiled at me, supporting me to keep going, which helps me move my feet forward again towards the train. The adventure waits for me, and I can't wait to face it head on.
