Books and Homework
Natasha stood at the entrance to the library, trying to take in everything at once. The floor to ceiling shelves held more books than she had ever seen, and she had to stop herself from running over to a shelf, picking up a book, and just curling up on the floor with it.
She chose a slightly more dignified method and fast walked towards the shelves and immediately started perusing through them, trying to pick out a book from all the amazing options.
She knew she had come here to finish her charms homework, but really, who could blame her for wanting to read? This place was amazing. She walked deeper into the shelves, taking in the worn out books, the leather bound journals, and the sweet smell of paper.
Eventually, after deciding that trying to choose just one would be futile, she picked out Quidditch through the Ages, and The Tales of Beedle the Bard. She was really excited to learn about Quidditch and Flying, and her dad had told her that The tales of Beedle the Bard was the magical version of bedtime stories, and she was looking forward to reading it ever since.
She flicked through the contents page of The tales of Beedle the Bard, and had to cover her mouth to stifle a chuckle. 'The Warlock's hairy heart', 'Babitty Rabbity and her Cackling stump', this was going to be an interesting read.
She walked towards the tables, resolving to complete her charms homework before she read a single word, and knowing that it was extremely unlikely she would stick to her words.
Just then, she spotted a familiar figure sitting on one of the tables, and a smile broke out over her face! "Angel! Mind if I join you?"

The library corner became Angel's reading spot until she noticed Natasha standing there while reading her book.
"Take any seat you want because I have no problem with it. The description of Hogsmeade in my book made me feel like I was already there. The descriptions of Honeydukes sweets and Three Broomsticks atmosphere and little shops in Hogsmeade Village create a dreamlike experience according to the book. I can't wait til we are allowed to go."
Angel put down her book for a brief instant.
“Oh! The Monster Book of Monsters attacked me when I tried to pick it up from the library shelves. it scared me so much it nearly dropped it. I never thought a book could have teeth. I've also seen the invisible book of invisibility, but the reading process of an invisible book remains a complete mystery to me. It's very curious."
Angel returned her gaze to Natasha and recognized the book cover she held in her hands.
"The Tales of Beedle the Bard is the book you are currently reading. How do you like it so far? do you have a favorite tale? Mine is Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump. It’s such a clever story I've read it multiple times it shows you that you can't underestimate magic since it could always come back to bite you."

Natasha grabbed a chair across from Angel and sat down, smiling.
"I saw the monster book of monsters when I was browsing the shelves, but my dad had warned me about it, so i avoided picking it up for now! I would like to read it though, so I'll check it out later, once I'm done with these two!" she said, pointing to the two books in her hand.
Maybe there's a trick to reading the invisible book of invisibility? Like maybe how you have to tickle the monster book of monsters?"
" I've not actually started reading the tales of Beedle the Bard yet, but the contents do sound interesting. I've grown up on muggle fairy tales, so I'm curious about these ones. Have you ever heard of Cinderella, or Rapunzel?" Natasha asked, remembering that she and Angel had decided to exchange stories with one another, and wondering whether she should tell her a muggle fairy tale.
"Actually, I had decided to come here to finish my charms homework before reading, but I couldn't resist browsing through the shelves. I think I am going to finish it first before reading though, I need to get it done before the next class!"
Saying that, Natasha pulled out her homework from her book bag and skimmed through it. Then she glanced at the book lying next to her. " Well, maybe I'll read for 5 minutes, and then I'll finish my homework" she said, grinning sheepishly.

"Closing her book, Angel chuckled tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
“Famous last words” Angel teased playfully.
"You know how it goes. Five minutes of reading can easily turn into an hour if you’re not careful. especially in this library. You know how easy it is to get distracted with all these magical books. yes I’ve heard of Cinderella and Rapunzel! My mum used to tell me those stories when I was little. Though, I always wondered why Cinderella didn’t just use the cleaning charm, but I suppose the story wouldn’t be nearly as exciting if she had.”
Angel put her chin in her hand, lost in thought before she continued
" Honestly, the Tales of Beedle the Bard are just different. Some of them are charming, and some are a little tricky, if you know what I mean. There’s one with a wizard and a very clever quill. I won’t spoil it, but it had me reading late into the night once it just seemed too hard to put down once you started it."
Angel glanced at her homework
But yeah, homework first. I can’t argue with that. Although… if you want, we could each read a little and then swap stories afterward. That way, we get the best of both worlds. homework done and magical tales shared. So… five minutes of reading, then back to charms? Or are we risking the infamous ‘five-minute trap’?”
Angel inquired a look of intrigue in her eye.

Natasha chuckled, knowing that Angel was correct and that she should probably finish her homework first.
" Well, Cinderella is a muggle fairy tale you know, and they didn't have stuff such as cleaning charms. If there were cleaning charms, snow white would be pretty boring, seeing as Snow could simply cast a cleaning charm in the cottage and be on her way."
"Have you heard of Snow White?" asked Natasha, realizing that Angel might not even know what she was talking about.
Pausing to take a breath, she added, " I think I should finish my homework though, so perhaps I'll study for about half an hour before reading, and then we can read together perhaps? Until then, you can continue what you are reading. "
Upon receiving Angel's nod of confirmation, Natasha slowly put away her books, and took out her homework grudgingly.
About 15 minutes passed by in complete silence, with the occasional stifled chuckle from Angel, whose book seemed quite funny.
Natasha sighed, "Ok, I can't do this anymore, Who knew the magical world involved so much homework? Anyways, I need a break, Angel, do you want to know the story of snow white? Tell me about the book you are reading"
Natasha fell back on her chair, and looked at Angel expectantly, waiting for an answer.

Angel squinted and tilted her head as she pondered.
"Snow White?" she said softly as if she was tasting the name. She attempted to recall if she had come across it previously. After a moment, she shook her head and part of her hair fell into her face. "Hmm… No, she doesn't ring a bell, her voice was curious as it always was when she encountered something new."
Angel's eyes widened, and she leaned forward, her chin supported by her hand. "Is she one of those Muggle princesses? Like Cinderella?" she said, trying to remember the story that Natasha had told her. "The one with the glass shoe and the pumpkin, you know. What's the story? Does she live in a castle? Or does she find it by accident?"
She was already smiling a little, thinking about how the story might be. "Is there any magic? Or is it one of those stories where nothing strange happens?" she asked herself. She still was unable to comprehend how people could live without magic.
Angel sat back, looking at Natasha. "Still, it's great" she said. "Muggles come up with these stories that are full of things they can't do—like spells or talking animals—and it sounds real to them. Perhaps that's their magic."
Her smile grew and her voice was soft but sincere. "So, get on with it, the way Snow White is not what you think. What is so nice about her? Does she have friends like the mice of Cinderella? Or is her story an unfortunate one?"

Natasha smiled at Angel's curiosity, and started off with the story of Snow White and the Seven dwarves.
@Angel O'Connor
She finished off with a deep breath, and grinned as she saw Angel looking absolutely enraptured in the story, and asked "Well, Do you like the story?""Once upon a time, in a distant kingdom, a beautiful princess named Snow White was born. Her mother, the queen, died shortly after her birth, and the king remarried a vain and wicked woman. The new queen possessed a magical mirror, which she would consult daily, asking, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” For years, the mirror answered that the queen was the most beautiful. But as Snow White grew older, the mirror proclaimed her the fairest, sparking the queen’s jealousy and rage.
Driven by envy, the queen ordered a huntsman to take Snow White into the forest and kill her. However, the huntsman, unable to harm the innocent girl, let her escape into the wilderness. Snow White wandered deep into the forest, where she found a small cottage belonging to seven dwarfs. They welcomed her, and she lived happily with them.
But the wicked queen, learning that Snow White was still alive, disguised herself as an old peddler woman and tricked Snow White into eating a poisoned apple. The princess fell into a deep, deathlike sleep.
One day, a prince rode through the woods and came upon the cottage. He saw Snow White in her glass coffin and, struck by her beauty, bent down to kiss her. The kiss broke the curse, and Snow White awoke. The prince, who had fallen in love with her at that moment, invited her to return to his kingdom. They were married, and the evil queen was punished for her wickedness. Snow White and the prince ruled the kingdom with kindness, bringing peace and joy to the land."O

Angel started humming with pleasure "I loved it here's one Once upon time, there was a princess who lived in a sparkling castle. but one day—oh!—just picture!—she found a secret entrance in the woods that took her into a secret land! And there were… there was heard chatty trees and singing flowers, and a crowned-up dragon!" Her fingers racing through the air, she went on talking while her bedroom disappeared in it and eyes stayed wide open. "The princess didn't know what to do initially. but then remembered her magic necklace, the one that would spread an instant smile on the grumpiest of faces, even a dragon's! So she did and the dragon's face broke into a smile as fireworks and he began dancing—yes, dancing!" She could not help but stir and so she jumped up alongside him and with her arm extended she cried, "And the second in which the princess found the treasure. oh! it was no gold nor jewels! It was a book. a wonderful one that made stories come alive! So she opened it and—hold on, wait—I have it—everything in the book was not peaceful but bounding! Little things, shimmering stars and even. even a wee rainbow that was sharing secrets! She covered her mouth with her hand as if to muffle her joyful squeal and retold with the surprise of the story, "And the best part… the princess and the dragon and the talkative trees were until then the best friends! They were spending days full of adventure, just like any ordinary day and no one was lonely anymore!" For a second, Angel didn't say anything, stars twinkling in her eyes then abruptly after one second she smiled, "Do you like it? Do you like my story?"

Natasha chuckled, thinking about dancing dragons and talking trees. Who knows, she might actually see one in the wizarding world.
Angel's enthusiasm was certainly infectious, and her story was enthralling.
"It's an amazing story Angel!" she said
Then, glancing at the clock, she realized that the two of them had spent the past 15 minutes telling each other stories. So much for a 5 minute break.
"Well, as fun as this has been, I really need to lock in, so you go back to your book, and I'll, well, I guess I'll finish my homework.."
"As much as I love the wizarding world, homework is always boring, whether it be muggle or magical."
Sighing, she turned back to her homework, and groaned, before opening her textbook to find the answer to next question.
As she flipped through the chapter, she came upon a rather interesting and funny piece of information, and looking towards Angel, said, "Did you know, the Hogwarts motto "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus, means 'Never tickle a sleeping dragon."
"I wonder how that would have been decided, did one of the founders actually tickle a sleeping dragon, and then decided that never tickle a sleeping dragon should be good, sound advice for students for generations to come?"
Realizing that she was once again getting distracted, she sighed and turned back to her homework, vowing to complete it in one go this time.

Angel- smiled a bit and said, "Yes, really I did. When I was small, I was very much into learning and I especially liked the historical side of Hogwarts."
She got even brighter as she remembered the time, "I used to sneak into my parents' library after dinner just to read about the founders," she went on, changing to that magical, dreamy, faraway one she always used when she talked of magic, "Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin - they were like four totally different universes, but in the end, they had created something which has lasted for centuries."
Angel was doing this in a very thoughtful manner, her thumb moving down the spine of her book, "What actually captured my imagination wasn't even the magic or the enchanted moving stairs. It was the school being alive - as if it had a very long memory. Every corridor, every painting, even every whisper from the walls seemed to be the ones that held the stories of the old times," she said.
She was talking softly, "I could see myself then walking through those halls, hearing the portraits talking about the old times, or maybe even finding a secret passage that hadn't been opened for hundreds of years. I thought that maybe if I listened closely enough, I could hear the old laughter or the sound of a dragon's wings coming from outside the castle,"
Her eyes got soft and she was not speaking of past or future but something completely different, "It even seems like that now. A place where learning and magic are one, where being brave and curious is what people are good at... I think that was the thing I liked most,"
Angel with a sly look on her face let out a soft sigh, "Maybe that is the reason why I keep reading about it - not only because it is a story, but also because it, in a way, feels like home."
