Hello, this is Aurelia M. Valentine speaking. This is a small writing project I picked up on a whim, instead of writing a reply for the threads already locked up after my absence for a few months. I swear on my Mama it will not be left abandoned. Currently, I have been playing Ethel Cain's newly released album entitled “Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You” non-stop. Non-stop. I stare at the ceiling while the album is playing. I hum it in the showers. Who can blame me? This is good stuff. Talking like an addict who needed a fix, I am. Everyone who knows me personally or has known me on a personal level is aware of my regard in concrete storytelling heard in music. I have been a daughter of Cain since last year (2024). Ethel Cain influenced my gothic poems so much. Listening to this album for the first time has been an experience. I thought at first, “Now, where's my Willoughby Tucker?” The underlying jealousy I feel whenever someone has a muse - a material to fuel their inspiration to write or conjure a masterpiece just like this recent album of Ethel Cain is palpable; it itches my creative brain. I need a Willoughby Tucker. Heck, I will always love him too for the sake of it. So I have decided to write prose inspired by every song released in the WTIALY album. That includes Janie, Willoughby's Theme, Fuck Me Eyes, Nettles, Willoughby's Interlude, Dust Bowl, A Knock At The Door, Radio towers, Tempest, and Waco, Texas. Yes, all ten (10) songs written like chapters because who can stop me? I will write everything as accurate as Ethel Cain herself implied in her songs, mentioned in her Wiki, and perhaps everywhere. With tidbits of my own interpretation as well, as I am writing this. All characters, locations, places are not owned by me and the credits go straight to Ethel Cain. Since there are flavours of my own interpretation as well, there might be some bits that are inaccurate. As I have mentioned before, I will try my very best to write it with as damning accuracy as possible. Point blank, I am saying this. I will not be receiving an owl starting with “Well, I hate the fact where—” WELL, I intend to have fun with the materials given and provided to me, and if you are not enjoying it then perhaps we are not meant to be together and these pieces are not destined to land on your screen. I am saying this with love! |
???? |  —————————————— I was thinking of writing Preacher's Daughter instead owing to the fact that there are so many materials to juggle and play with words. However, the album is too graphic and I will be viewing from half-way down if I continue that specific project. It is graphic that I might take it upon myself to form a revolution for Ethel Cain (the character). I will settle with this album instead as Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You. Fun fact, I already did something like this with Sub Urban's Thrill Seeker album and posted it on Tumblr. Which you will not see and find, because I say so. I will be posting these pieces on Tumblr too, as I like to keep a tab of what I write. You will have to bear with me as creative inspiration only comes to me in the form of spurts or inklings. This might take a long time to finish as I will be fact-checking my pieces obsessively too. “To love me is to suffer me.” The interpretation of this line is up to you, to me, and to everyone else that has listened to Nettles. However, I will make sure that you will suffer while reading this - if you are willing to hold my hand, fingers intertwined tightly, as we move forward on this journey together. We should be holding Willoughby Tucker's and Ethel Cain's hands too because they have it rough. Spoiler alert: they will not make it out alive. With love, Aurelia |
