Fair Days Summer Camp[/right]
Sara didn't know how bad his anxiety would get if he never got into sports and exercising. Apart from cat plushies and cooking, ensuring he got some sun and get his body moving was one of the short times in his schedule where he often didn't need to worry so much about… everything. Being a chronic worrier had always been apart of him. Even if he couldn't stop it entirely, at least he had his own methods to give himself some time to breathe. And summer gave him a lot to think about. Definitely.
It had only been a few days before the mysterious disappearance of Ginyami, now suddenly replaced by a girl no one knew before. So many questions, too many things to consider, and …. Sara didn't really know how to feel about either of them. And when he was unsure about something, it's definitely going to haunt him for several days before coming to the closest thing to a conclusion he could. Indecisiveness. Who knew that's what happens when you think too much.
Not to mention, the quidditch game starting soon that had his nerves in a wreck. So for the past few days, he'd been a lot more consistent with running laps at the tiniest hint of dawn. Running around without people was preferable, always. But that didn't always seem to be the case.
In the middle of jogging, he had to squint his eyes at the person near the trail. The sun wasn't fully out. The lights from the rides weren't turned on so early just yet. He thought of passing by, not wanting to look rude for staring too long. But when he got closer, the familiarity struck him immediately. " Ye Jun?" He said softer at first, as if unsure.
Tensing at the sudden casuality, he insticntively bowed his head a little. " A- Ah I'm sorry, Lee.. H-hi.. it's been.. a while", he said, unable to hide the usual awkwardness and a hint of embarassment in his tone. Still, he somehow managed to not give in to the urge to say bye and get back to jogging.
The last time they met wasn't…. one of Sara's best moments. Seeing the face he was embarrassed to face, yet thankful all at the same time felt very… odd. Maybe shameful even, that he had to see a version of Sara like that. But from Sara's memories, it was Ye-jun that helped Sara through some thinking.
" How.. ah.. how are you? Are you.. jogging.. now?" he said, wanting to hide in a hole as the pathetic small talk came out of him. Of course he was jogging, that much was obvious. But the brain has a habit of shutting down when nervous.

Violet in English, Red in Korean and Blue in FrenchSo far, the summer camp was going relatively smoothly. Ye-jun shared the tent with his friend and his cousin and there were no major troubles besides the minor annoyance of having the Japanese eyesore there as well. He still didn’t understand why Eun-ji had so much affection for that boy but she made it clear that the matter was not up to discussion so he didn’t dare to interfere any further. The disgruntled wizard could only hope she wouldn’t get hurt too badly. Since it did cause some frustration on his side however, the Beauxbatons student naturally did what he’d always done when he was overwhelmed by negative emotions. He went for a run. Honestly, having an actual gym here, or at school for that matter, would be Godsent but that would probably never happen so he had to keep on running.
Ye-jun wasn’t sure about the distance he already covered that morning, he never kept track if he was being honest. Least of all now, when he was struggling to keep his emotions in check so often. As long as he could still feel the storm raging underneath his skin, he would not stop. He couldn’t. Well, that is as long as he was the only one to have a say in the matter. Today, he apparently did not.
“Ye Jun?” The Korean boy gradually slowed his pace upon hearing his name. Even if the voice wasn’t already familiar to him, it was impossible not to recognize the large figure it belonged to. For once, Ye-jun found that he was not really annoyed by the interruption. Although his first conversation with Sara was of a rather somber nature, he had a good feeling about the guy. His heart seemed to be in a good place and he was very respectful, which Ye-jun always appreciated. “So we meet again,” the Beauxbatons student bowed in return, trying to steady his breathing. Once he managed, he smiled, completely ignoring the awkwardness that seemed to control the other boy’s every word and action. He had no desire to embarrass him. Ye-jun knew very well what it felt like to be humiliated by someone, even multiple someones, and he would never intentionally do it himself…unless it was well deserved of course. He was a bit of an oxymoron in that regard. At times he could be overly considerate of other people’s feelings, other times, he couldn’t be bothered sparing those that didn’t earn such consideration from him. That’s just the kind of person his past shaped him to be…
“Please, there is no need to be so formal. Ye-jun is perfectly fine.” In fact, it felt entirely too unfamiliar to be called by his last name. No one besides his professors really addressed him that way. “I’m doing okay.” He gave a neutral answer to the question, not entirely sure if the other party was just being polite or genuinely interested. Ye-jun didn’t want to explain that there has been a lot of ups and downs in his life recently. It was not something he would casually explain to someone he met for the second time in his life even though their first conversation had been rather deep. The Lee family was notoriously bad at sharing the important stuff with others.
The question that came next was clearly something the Japanese boy regretted immediately. The answer was obvious but Ye-jun gave it anyway, making sure to sound properly casual. It was not a big deal and he was not about to make it into one. “Yeah, I needed to clear my head a little. Running helps with that.” He confirmed before finally asking a question of his own. “What about you? How are you doing?” Ye-jun wondered what ended up happening with his rather toxic love affair and if Sara was doing better now but he did not specify. He didn’t want to pressure Sara in case he didn’t feel like sharing.

His exhales of relief mixed in with the breaths he had to let out from jogging just as the other boy seemed to have remember him. Even if a huge part of him felt that Ye-jun forgetting him was a plus, he couldn't help but feel warm in his chest that he was remembered. Even if it was for a devestatingly embarassing and somewhat shameful moment for Sara. " It's nice to see you" he admited, finding the courage to after the other smiled at him back. Tempted to smile back, but goodness knows he wasn't the best smiler. Last thing he needed was Ye-jun to think his smile was too tense to be genuine. Instead he showed the tiniest hint of an appreciative smile at the edge of his lips.
" Right.. Ye-jun.. sorry I- it's been so long. I wasn't sure if you remembered me or not". Ye-jun hadn't mentioned Sara's name so part of him wondered if the other had forgotten. But he wasn't about to put Ye-jun on the spot if he did. " Thats nice to hear" Sara answered despite his rather boring question, he appreciated Ye-jun answering neutrally. His hand instinctively went to the back of his neck. A sign of nervousness. " Theres…not much to say about the day, has it? It's too early. Most people are still asleep." He glanced around them, the temporary stillness he knew woudl disapear in less than an hour. " It's… quite a different scenary than .. the last time we talked, isn't it?". Sara remembered. Or more specifically, he remembered how much he did his best to run away from the noise.
" I.. I agree. I came for that too. You know.. um.. clearing.. my head". Sara thought the convo would've ended right then and there. Though at Ye-jun asking a question back, Sara coudln't hide the tinge of surprised and joy that washed over his face. Maybe he wasn't the only one who wanted to talk more then. Instead of an auto-response, Sara somehow found the strength in him to say more than just ' fine' and 'doing well'. " I .. think summer camp has a… funny or um.. interesting way of throwing stuff at us. And.. making us think a lot..doesn't it?" he placed his hand down gently, meeting the others gaze now. A lot more calmed down than before. " .. I .. am doing well. Better than before.. I think" he said a lot more sincerely, referring to when they met.
" I… was just about to finish my run. I plan to watch the sunrise from the stands while I cool down. Do you…. maybe..want to come with me?" His heart pounded as the question left his lips. " N-no pressure if.. you have plans or want to head back now, of course. "

Violet in English, Red in Korean and Blue in FrenchYe-jun nodded at his words. Since they’ve only met once, it was understandable that Sara wasn’t sure if he remembered him. It was a fair assumption. The Korean boy tended to be approached by many people and started to filter them out at some point, but this was different. Not to mention, he was the one to approach the other boy back then, not the other way round. “I remember the conversations that matter and the people involved in them.” He clarified simply. There was no need to dissect the memory any further than that. It would most likely only make things more awkward.
“Yeah, let’s hope the day continues to be as peaceful as it is now even when things start to get more lively.” Ye-jun seamlessly followed the more lighthearted topic brought up afterwards. It was his sincere wish. To many people, he apparently came across as someone who enjoyed a big events and being the center of an attention but quite on the contrary, the Beauxbatons student was not fond of either. “The surroundings back then were a bit overwhelming, yes. This is much better.” He added as an afterthought. Did he have the right to complain though when he himself caused plenty of chaos afterwards? Well, no matter, Sara didn’t need to know that. It was not something to be proud of anyway.
Finally, there was a fairly obvious positive reaction when Ye-jun asked Sara about his own well-being. It even seemed to ease some of his awkwardness. Why was it? Did he expect to be quickly dismissed? Ye-jun sure hoped he didn’t come across as such person. Though he did tend to act somewhat cold to strangers, he didn’t think he ever interacted with the Mahoutokoro student in that manner. “I’d say life has interesting way of throwing stuff at us but yes, without the classes, there is far too much time to dwell on all those things here.” He agreed with a sigh. “But I’m glad to hear you are doing at least a little bit better.” There was another sincere smile accompanying said statement. Ye-jun actually wanted to ask if this was because the things had gotten better between Sara and the person he liked or whether he decided to take a step back instead but he didn’t dare. Just because Sara confided in him that one time, didn’t mean he had the right to ask for the follow up.
“I… was just about to finish my run. I plan to watch the sunrise from the stands while I cool down. Do you…. maybe..want to come with me?” The Korean boy was somewhat caught off guard by the offer. Not because it was a big deal but because he did not expect Sara to do such a thing on his own accord. He actually worried, keeping the conversation going for much longer might only make him uncomfortable. Apparently, that was not the case. Ye-jun would be lying if he said he was not a bit relieved. “Actually...sure, that sounds nice. Let’s do that.” He agreed before the other boy changed his mind.

Sara's eyes widened once again at the blunt, but clear message from the other boy. Managing to keep the smallest smile on his face, his ears tinted with a dash of red. Even if Ye-jun didn't talk much, its almost like he ensured his words contained everything that was important. It was so different than how Sara's culture often did. Sara was a lot used to filtered words, leaving him to wonder if the kind words were a cover. Tip of an iceberg that hardly scratched the surface. And with.. recent events, Sara found it nice for people to be blunt. "…I'm.. really glad you think so too. " he said, gratefulness tinged in his deep voice. Part of him thought of apologising but… he felt there was a better time for that.
"Ah ..right." Sara let out a relieved sigh at Ye-jun's hopefulness for a peaceful summer. He was sure to know that these area's didn't tend to be peaceful. Given the amount of accidents that never seemed to end. Summer camps though, from his experience - tended to be a lot more peaceful than Hogwarts balls.
Sara nodded at Ye-jun's next words, blissfully unaware of the events that transpired after their meeting. " Hahah.. yes.. I agree. Though.. I think it'll only get more loud later. Ah- I think.. wasn't there broom racing starting soon? If.. I'm not mistaken.. I think your school is competing today. Are you.. planning to watch?". He wasn't sure if the other was even interested in magical sports. Clearly, he's not a stranger to working out. Sara didn't remember if he ever saw Ye-jun participate in any of the sport teams.
After Sara admitted he had been better since the last time they talked, the two seemed to share a subtle but comfortable exchange. Mixed between small smiles and appreciative silences. For some reason, Sara thought that it wouldn't matter if he went into deeper detail or not about what happened after their last talk. But one thing for certain was he didn't want to drop information on him out of the blue.
Ye-jun wasn't a walking free-to-vent machine, after all. And Sara's main priority at the moment was to hopefully, offer something nice in return. For the trouble Ye-jun went through. It wasn't easy to listen to a stranger. Even harder not to expect anything in return. Ye-jun might've implied there was nothing to repay for, but Sara wasn't a person that was too comfortable with others helping him. Besides, he wanted to show how much he appreciated Ye-jun for last time. Even if the execution is a little clumsy.
Despite it, Ye-jun still accepted Sara's offer. He let out a relieved, happy exhale for a second, fighting the urge to smile at the acceptance. " R-really? Thanks" he fumbled immediately, letting his anxiousness steer his dialog. Thanks? Seriously? Jeez. Way to go, Sara. How smooth. Thanking someone for accepting something you offered.
" Its.. not far from here. We can just jog a little until we reach it. Um.. let's go..?" Sara felt his cheeks flush. Why on earth did he frame it as a question? Was he really going to let his own appreciation for Ye-jun make himself awkward? No way, he had to calm down already. The jog there seemed like a temporary haven for his mind to chill out. It was comfortably silent. It was difficult to jog while talking after all. And it only took a moment for Sara to realise that the other boy might've known that as well.
Once they arrived, they slowest down at the stands that showed the view of the sky the best. Sara, still lightly panting from their earlier jog and their way up here, was momentarily distracted by the view.
It was still far too early to see any sun until another 15 minutes at least. The early morning air nipped his skin where sweat is. The clouds, still hiding the shy sun.
" ….I.. don't .. think I've.. been here actually…" Sara said absentmindedly, a tinge of amusement in his tone as his eyes glanced around the pitch. " It's always… uh.." he pointed to the area on the pitch where the teams get out from the locker rooms before putting his hand back to his side. Interesting how he's been on the field for so long but never on the spectator side.
He turned back to Ye-jun. " Thanks.. again. For accompanying me. The sun will rise soon. We're gonna have to wait" he would stand up unless Ye-jun sat down. It was rude to sit down before a guest, isn't it? If Ye-jun sat down, Sara would soon follow.
Whether or not they sat down or not, Sara decided to fill up the silence. Trying to save himself from overthinking in silence. " Has.. this summer camp been fun for you so far?" He asked. Knowing he asked already, but the last time he asked was more automatic. Like an auto response no one really cares about answering. This time though, the curiosity in his tone was evident. " I.. um.. I confess.. I did see you occasionally sometimes. I didn't know you were close friends with Hiro. I see you two hang out a lot. Hows being in a tent with him?"

Violet in English, Red in Korean and Blue in French“Hmmm…that’s true. With the broom racing coming up and all the attractions, it’s unlikely for this place to stay this quiet for much longer.” Ye-jun agreed, already mentally preparing himself. “I’m not sure if I’ll go. I never tend to stay for the whole match. It’s not that I’m not interested in the magical sports at all and I do have huge respect for the broom races and quidditch players…I just...prefer muggle sports. I typically go take a look and slip out when things start to get too rowdy.” He replied honestly. Ye-jun wasn't someone to pretend to be hyped up about something just because most of his peers were. That just felt insincere.
In truth, he seemed to have a talent for magical sports and his teacher told him to try out for the team but he felt his heart was never fully in it and he didn’t want to take the opportunity from someone, who genuinely dreamed of being on the team. “Ahh…but honestly? I’m a bit jealous of the kids on the school teams… I really miss the gym.” He admitted with a wry smile. Unlike his classmates, he only got summers to do what he loved. Maybe that was also part of the reason why he never stayed for the whole match... “I guess I can be a pretty petty person too. He muttered under his breath self-deprecatingly.” Well, at least he still had the running and he could do that pretty much anywhere.
“What’s there to thank me for? It’s me who’s grateful for the invitation.” This time, the Beauxbatons student almost chuckled at Sara's words but he managed to stop himself in time. Considering the boy's timid nature, he wasn’t sure he wouldn’t misinterpret such reaction. Because it was not that Ye-jun found his awkwardness funny in a malicious sense, he actually thought it was kind of cute. However, even he had to admit it was a somewhat unexpected sentiment in connection with such a big guy, which is precisely why Ye-jun stopped himself. He had a feeling Sara wouldn’t have believed him even if he explained himself afterwards. Especially since they barely knew each other. “Come on, big guy. Let’s go.” He patted the boy’s shoulder instead, grateful for the suggestion for some more exercise.
The jog to the pitch, was quiet without being awkward. Ye-jun made sure to match his running partner’s pace and he could tell Sara was mindful of him as well. Despite being used to running on his own, he actually found this very pleasant and peaceful experience. It felt like no time had passed when they reached their destination. “….I.. don't .. think I've.. been here actually…” At that, Ye-jun tilted his head before following the other boy’s gaze. “Right…you are on the quidditch team, aren’t you?” He put two and two together quickly. He saw the Mahoutokoro team play briefly and though he came for Tone, he could vaguely remember seeing Sara there as well. He was hard to miss after all. “Tough sport for sure…” He said mostly to himself as he looked up to the sky. Sara was right, it was going to take a minute before the sun showed up but he didn’t really mind. “That’s fine. I don’t mind waiting.” He confirmed aloud as well.
Stretching a little bit first to make sure his muscles didn’t feel sore later, Ye-jun took a few moments before sitting down and waiting for the Japanese boy to do so as well. Some rest for their legs was well in order after all. “Actually, it’s been…blissfully uneventful so far? I’m just glad to spend some more time with my friend and my cousin.” He answered the question honestly. The summer camp was never really about the events for him. It was an opportunity to see people he didn’t get to see otherwise. Funnily enough, Sara had guessed the identity of one of them immediately afterwards, making Ye-jun look at him in surprise. “Oh….you know him?” Ye-jun asked before realizing it actually wasn’t surprising at all. “Right…same school, same team. Makes sense.” He chuckled at himself. “Yeah, he is the friend I just mentioned. I actually met him the same day as you. If you ever feel the nature of our first meeting was not exactly normal, please know that Tone had even more bizarre experience with me and he still decided to become my friend.” He shook his head at the memory. “He’s a really good guy though I feel like I barely scratched a surface with him.” He admitted openly. Ye-jun always thought there was a lot going on underneath that shiny happy exterior of his but he still wasn’t quite sure he got the right to pry so he never dared to ask. “Are you two friends as well?”

" You do? You really like muggle sports better? M-me too" there was a hint of excitement, rare for Sara to show before he tensed and his shoulders slumped a little in shyness. " Sorry.. I don't find a lot of students in my own school that like muggle sports. Um… in Mahoutokoro..its mandatory for us to learn muggle sports as first years.. but most people drop it once they reach 2nd year. To focus on magical sports. So.. I dont find a lot of people that like muggle sports" Sara confessed gently, giving an understanding nod at the mention of noise. " ..I.. feel the same way. I understand the rowdyness is a little.. much sometimes" he admitted. Their last conversation was so heavy, it baffled Sara that he knew so little about Ye-jun. It filled him with a mixture of anxiety and somewhat excitement.
Much to his surprise, Ye-jun confessed something of his own. " I see.. it's a little tough to find a proper gym when you're not in the team…" he agreed, though taking a moment to let the other boys comment sink in before deciding how to respond. It felt like they were the only two person here, with how almost soothingly silent their area is. Sara couldn't really pretend he didn't hear his words without signalling that he purposely ignored the other. " thats natural isn't it? … maybe that might also be a sign you cared. Not just the sport, but .. everything that involves in it. Like the people, the craft, and the time it takes to practice it." sara offered gently, though not intending to voice it the way as if he's nagging Ye-jun. It was valid afterall. if Ye-jun was petty for something like that, then Sara was as petty if not more. " You did say you respected sport teams earlier, right? If you truly only cared about the sport just for the gym accesibility.. then wouldn't it be easier to just join the team? Um .. thats. just.. what.. im wondering.. is all. You dont.. have to answer if you dont want to.." he reminded, a bit meekly.
At the question of the reason for Sara thanking him, he couldn't help but have his face burn up in fluster. Having half the mind to cover his face with his hands in shame. " I - I don't know it just.. slipped out.." he mumbled, shyly , furrowing his eyebrows. Even if he looked angry now, it was a commonly mistaken expression for the boy while he's flustered. He managed to calm down a little as Ye-jun quickly patted his shoulder, too brief for Sara to feel tense about. He nodded and comfortably jogged alongside Ye-jun.
While at the stands, Sara shyly scratched the back of his neck. Letting out a sheepish light laugh. Almost like a breath. " Y-yeah... for a while now. Not for long actually.. in a few days should be um.. my last game here". There was a distant look in his eyes as he expressed that. As if unsure what emotion that statement was supposed to bring. "… like most sports .. I think" he agreed.
The conversation shifted to Tone/Hiro, the other boy being momentarily surprised that they knew eachother. The rare chuckle that came from Ye-jun momentarily stunned Sara. Something in his gut told him that it didn't happen often. It sounded….nice. Sara found his hand briefly covering the part over his own mouth, as if hiding the brief smile that flickered his face before it disapeared as he sat next to Ye-jun. It was always nice to know when someone felt comfortable enough around Sara to laugh.
"We're .. different arent we?" Sara commented lightly at Ye-juns surprise. Referring to himself and Tone. " But that's just him… he's the kind to be friends with all sorts of people.." his gaze turned to his shoes. Looking back only when Ye-jun mentioned when they met. Noting that he used 'Tone' instead of 'Hiro'. Jeez- Sara really should practice calling Hiro that more. " R-really? Same day? " he let out the smallest smile. " Small world.. hahah.. well.. that person.. he doesn't really let bizzare experience stop him from making friends. He likes to find..the good in people.". He was about to ask for more details on that until Ye-jun's next words.
Sara paused to listen to Ye-jun's confession about Tone. Choosing to stay quiet until Ye-jun asked him a question. The silence indicating the question may be a lot more harder to answer than Ye-jun intended it to be.
" … what.. makes a friend.. you think?" he asked back, softly, almost hesitantly. " Tone calls me his friend. One of many. He makes others easily comfortable around him and is so friendly.. . Thats a big deal in my culture.. since most of us are often distantly polite at most.. . Still.... I like to believe it when he says we're friends… but.. " he stared into the still shy sun. " … it's hard to think you're someone's friend when they make you wonder often if you're just… scratching the surface..isn't it?... What do ..you think..?"

Violet in English, Red in Korean and Blue in FrenchThis time, Ye-jun was not really all that surprised when Sara confirmed he and Tone were friends. He was right, that boy seemed to have friends everywhere. How many times did they bump into someone unfamiliar to Ye-jun, even from his own school, only to find out Tone already knew them? “I guess you are…but then again, the two of us are also quite different. Like you said, he certainly does not discriminate when it comes to making friends.” On one hand, Ye-jun found it fascinating, on the other however, he could not imagine doing the same. It just felt incredibly overwhelming and he wasn’t sure he could do those friendships justice. The idea of keeping up with so many people sounded...exhausting. Then again, he was not all that friendly person to begin with so maybe that was just him being himself.
“Yeah, I stumbled on him and one familiar face, when I was heading back to my tent. It was not exactly a pleasant meeting, but I guess it turned out well in the end.” The Beauxbatons student did not shy away from the question but he also didn’t get into the messy details. If he was being painfully honest, although he did not regret it entirely, he was still somewhat ashamed of his actions from that day. It was certainly not something he was eager to describe to someone he hardly knew…or well…anyone else for that matter.
“… what.. makes a friend.. you think?” A tough question. One, Ye-jun wasn’t really sure he was qualified to answer. He thought about it for a second before ultimately deciding to be honest. “Well...I’m not exactly an expert. Throughout my life, I didn’t really manage to make any close friends. I guess Tone might be the first one but I feel like I’m still figuring that one out.” He knew of course. Years of bad experiences with his peers had left him wary and he had a hard time relying on other people. But wasn’t that what friendships were built on? Trust? No wonder he’d never really made any then. Maybe he was just... not cut out for it. Maybe he was still immature.
“I suppose a friend is someone you find trustworthy? A good friend though…is someone you really know and someone who knows you. Not just the good parts but the really bad ones as well. At least that’s what I think.” This was precisely why he kept wondering about Tone and he could absolutely see where Sara was coming from. “I know what you mean though. I do trust Tone but sometimes it feels a bit…one-sided.” Ye-jun could feel the weight of those words and the truth in them that kept nagging at him every so often recently. “But then again, I can’t say I don’t understand. Some things are really hard to share.” He paused, considering whether to add his last point as well. Was it okay to say this? Why did it seem so personal, when it really wasn’t such a big deal. Sighing, the wizard decided not to torture himself and just come out clean. Overthinking was Eun-ji’s area of expertise, not his. “I guess I just wish I knew if it was okay to ask…”

Sara nodded at Ye-jun mentioning how different they are, and yet they seemed to be like most of the people who had met Tone. Pulled in by their demeanor and friendliness. At one point in Sara's time, he was envious of him, and his ability to simply show up in front of other peope. Meanwhile Sara flinched at just being sighted for too long. Sara tried to shake off the lingering thoughts. He was … a lot better now, he thinks. But he couldn't help but wonder if Ye-jun felt the same. Even if he had talked to Ye-jun twice, Sara had a feeling that the other boy wasn't the type to be that openly friendly. He knew all too well that people don't like seeing truths presented in front of them. As with Sara's impression of Ye-jun so far, bluntness and honesty seemed to be part of him.
He nodded again when the other mentioned a little about what happened, though choosing not to press. Instead, giving the small smile that could be mistaken as a tight tense one. Even when it wasn't. " That's the important thing in the end.. I think" Sara agreed, " some meetings have a bumpy start… but that doesn't.. entirely mean relationships can't be formed.. right?". He suggested a bit meekly, remebering his own experience for a moment before focusing back on the other boy.
Sara's small smile slowly morphed in a neutral expression. Well.. as neutral as one could describe him at least. There wasn't much to be done when you have an resting annoyed expression. Sara didn't answer immediately, instead focusing on listening instead. Furrowing his eyebrows a little as he took in consideration of every word Ye-jun had shared, and every expression he showed. Even if it was small. He hoped Ye-jun would feel comfortable that every word was heard, the same way the other paid attention to Sara's words when they first met.
" That … sounds like a tough situation to be in. It …looks like we have the same values.. in friends, I mean. Which.. also.. means we have the same worry.." Sara let out a small smile that reached his eyes, though he looked a little sad. Why wouldn't he when he realise the other boy is in the same predicament as him.
" … you know.. I don't think .. that.. just because you didn't manage to make a lot of friends, it doesn't always mean you're bad at knowing what friends are supposed to be. It… looks to me that you've thought about this a lot. The same can be said for… people who have a lot of friends. Like Tone. It doesn't always mean that they make good ones. Which is.. another part why I worry for him.." he admitted, his voice as gentle as the warmth that's starting to dust his skin.
"That's alright.." Sara assured gently despite his gruff tone at Ye-jun's mention that he knows what it feels like not to share everything. As if what he said made so much sense." It… makes us vulnerable, doesn't it? And that's.. hm.. theres a lot of reasons why people don't want to show that".
Sara paused for a moment, taking his eyes of Yejun and curling his fingers inwards on the seat. " …Like.. for me.. I … grew up thinking that…sharing tends to burden people. I might say the wrong thing, or take up space when I'm not supposed to… so I made myself believe that maybe… it was okay to say less, so other people can speak more and I am just..the best I can be. Which is.. just convenient. And that… actually.. led me to a lot of .. one sided friendships too" there was a somber gaze in him before he looked back at Ye-jun with curious eyes and a light sheepish smile. " Actually… the day we met was quite rare…I usually never share that much with anyone. But if it werent for that… do you think we could be able to talk like this now?"
Ye-Jun then mumbled out loud about his wish to know if it was okay to ask." … If.. I may… " Sara said in a softer tone, as if hesitant. Feeling it was important enough to let Ye-jun know, still. " The fact that you're… worrying about it was okay to ask him.. suggest to me that.. you care enough. I think that's… a good basis for a friend."
"…It's just me here." Sara reminded slowly, instinctively adjusting himself so he could face Yejun next to him. " If .. you're comfortable with it.. do you mind if I ask what sort of questions you wanted to ask him? I promise I won't tell anyone" Sara said sincerely. "O-only if you wanted to share.. of course."

Mutually Worried
Violet in English, Red in Korean and Blue in FrenchYe-jun felt relieved when Sara didn't probe any further into the nature of his and Tone's first meeting. He wasn't ready to share and he didn't want to make the situation uncomfortable by refusing to do so. Not when it seemed the other boy was finally getting less awkward around him. “You are right. In fact, I think that kind of beginnings can end up making relationships stronger. Assuming one does nothing to mess things up in the process.” He was certainly trying not to mess up when it came to Tone. Whether he was being successful or not however, he couldn't say for sure. He needed more time before making such important verdict.
The Beauxbatons student hummed in agreement, a corner of his lips raising slightly. He could tell Sara was a very like minded individual and his words were actually pretty encouraging. “I suppose I did think about it quite a bit. Not sure if it did me a whole lot of good but at least nobody can say I didn’t try.” He looked at his companion then. “Sounds to me like you gave it plenty of thought yourself.” He remarked, refusing to be the only party that got to be praised. Credit where credit was due. Sara was clearly a good person and he deserved to know. “But yeah...sometimes I wonder if Tone does as well or if he just dives in head first without thinking.” Ye-jun didn't mean to say that the younger boy was thoughtless of course...reckless would have been the better word for it. He was the kind of person that made people worry without even realizing it.
“It… makes us vulnerable, doesn't it? And that's.. hm.. theres a lot of reasons why people don't want to show that.” To that, Ye-jun simply nodded. Exactly. Being vulnerable was hard. Which is why he was surprised, when Sara decided to follow up with a little bit of sharing of his own. Still, he kept his expression calm, and listened attentively. Hopefully, he didn’t look like his usual self. It appeared Sara's default expression was easy to misunderstand and Ye-jun was unfortunately no different. Between the two of them, they were a social disaster waiting to happen. Where the Japanese boy looked almost annoyed, Ye-jun tended to come across as cold and uninterested. Neither was particularly welcoming alas, even that didn’t stop a certain type of people from approaching him…What a shame.
“I see...” the Korean boy took a moment to think. He was not exactly good at this and he didn't want to say something wrong due to being rash. “Hmm, I don't think you actually did anything wrong...unless you were constantly yapping about your problems.” Ah. There it was, the rough edges he never quite managed to smooth out. “I mean...too much of anything can get annoying real fast but I'm willing to bet you were just overthinking or didn't meet the right people at the time.” He continued quickly, feeling fairly confident with his assessment. If nothing else, Ye-jun had a good intuition when it came to people. “That’s the thing though, isn't it? It doesn’t matter if you talk too much or not at all. There will always be those that find a reason not to like you just for the heck of it.”
He would know. At that time, it didn’t matter how much he talked. He tried to keep up with his classmates and when that didn’t work, he toned it down a little but nothing changed. Eventually, he stopped talking altogether for a while but again, it made no difference. The kids didn't like what he looked like and that alone was enough for them. “I think you should just...be you and find people who like that. At least I hope that's how it works otherwise I'm screwed.” Yeah...he might have not been the type to open up easily but he had long given up on pretending to be someone he wasn't. That never helped him in the past so he could only hope that was not the right way to go about it.
“Actually… the day we met was quite rare…I usually never share that much with anyone. But if it werent for that… do you think we could be able to talk like this now?” Ye-jun smiled at that, feeling somewhat amused. “Oh was it? What a coincidence...I'm not usually a great listener.” There were a lot of people talking to him daily but hardly any of them ever said anything worth listening to. Eventually, Ye-jun caught himself not trying. At least not too hard. But that day was different, something in him wanted to listen to Sara and he actually wanted to help. “I'm glad we did things differently then. You are right, I'm not sure if it would be quite as easy talking to you now if the meeting initial meeting was unremarkable. I guess it's good to break your own routine once in a while.”
Had Sara not been as open with him just then, Ye-jun might have dismissed his next suggestion before even considering it but some revelations were made and it somehow put the Beauxbatons student’s mind at ease. “Tell you...” he pondered the offer quietly, raising his gaze back to the sky. Perhaps it was because they were seemingly so similar, perhaps it was Sara's surprisingly gentle nature or perhaps it was simply the sun slowly peeking out from behind the clouds, but Ye-jun found himself willing.
“Well...you do seem to care about him a great deal too so I guess it’s okay.” he drew out, turning his head to inspect the other boy's eyes as if searching for any sign of deception. When he found none, Ye-jun sighed and looked back up. Just because he found his courage to speak, didn't mean he felt entirely unaffected by the situation. Even his confidence was not unshakeable. “Questions. I have plenty...” Where would he even start? “I suppose I'd ask him if having so many friends made him truly happy or if he was just distracting himself from something less...pleasant. I'd ask him if I could be the one to listen for a change...And maybe, if I was feeling particularly arrogant, see if there was something I could do about it.” Although the rest of his body remained completely still while he talked, his fingers drummed against the bench rhythmically as if soothing himself unconsciously. Ye-jun was very much out of his element and his body naturally reacted to it.
Once he finished speaking however, the wizard clearly realized what he was doing because his fingers stilled abruptly. After a moment, he finally turned to look at Sara again. A wry grin painting his face. “I shouldn't ask too much though, otherwise the selfish questions might come floating to the surface.” What about me? Am I also just a distraction or am I special...even just a little bit? If I ask something hard, will you answer? Do you trust me? Yeah…Not exactly a picture of selflessness. “I'm not such a good person, Sara. I'm far too aware of that…but I do want to help him of he needs it. You want that too, don't you? What do you want to ask him?” The Korean boy questioned. It wasn’t just curiosity. He wanted to make sure he didn't make a mistake. That he chose the right person to talk to about his friend. He wished he didn't feel the need to check but trust really did not come easy to him...even when his own gut told him it was fine.
