George's Way to Flourish & Blotts
Sally dropped George in front of the Leaky Cauldron and told him, 'Remember, George, look for the dustbin, latitude 3' N, longitude 2' E.' George nodded, though the words didn't make any sense to him. Look for the dustbin, latitude 3' N, longitude 2' E... what was that all about? A man was passing by. George asked him about Diagon Alley, but the man said it didn't exist.
Hopeless, George sat down on a bench in the courtyard of the Leaky Cauldron and counted his money. His mother had given him ten gold coins the size of hubcaps which she had found in the strange envelope. He began thinking of his Geography classes at home - latitude, longitude and began tapping the bricks in the wall - saying to himself, 3' latitude means 3 up, 2' longitude means 2 right. When he tapped the second brick in the third row upwards from the dustbin, he suddenly heard a lot of noise. He looked up and saw a long street with the sign 'Diagon Alley'. Diagon Alley.
He walked straight and turned right. There it was - Flourish and Blotts, the bookshop his mother had told him about. He walked in. 'How can I help you?' the assistant asked him kindly. George gave the booklist to him, awestruck at the sea of books all around him. Suddenly, his eyes fell on a Golden Snitch. Wasn't that the ball his friend who lived three blocks away told him about? Yes it was!
Ten minutes later he walked out of Flourish & Blotts with his schoolbooks in his bag and 'Quidditch Through the Ages' under his nose. His next stop - Ollivanders.
