Should I go?
The talk of Hogwarts right now was the Autumn Ball. Olivia hardly heard anyone who wasn't talking about it. People planning outfits or wondering who they were going with. Olivia had, as usual, taken refuge outside to avoid all the talk about the ball.
She chose one of her walking routes: the one around the lake. Her thoughts wrestled with each other and of course they were about the prom. Olivia had almost decided not to go, but then she would be one of the few.
She stopped under a willow tree and began to pace back and forth. She began to consider her options and finally she started talking to herself: “If I didn’t go, I’d probably have the whole common room to myself. But it doesn’t matter because I usually never go there anyway.”
She looked out over the lake where a tentacle could be seen sticking up above the surface for a few seconds. “But if I go,” she continued. “I’d have to find a dress, a partner, learn to dance. Or? I don’t know anything about this!” She kicked a rock hard, which flew out over the water and bounced a few times before sinking.
She screamed loudly once, frustrated with herself. Maybe it was best if she didn't go. "I have no clothes, no friends to go with, and besides, people like me don't fit into these kinds of situations." She stopped and sat down heavily on a rock. Why was it so hard?

Should I go?

Meeting @Olivia Williams
I was minding my own business, sitting in a tree like I usually do when I need to think. It was the willow tree next to the lake. I was perfectly fine, and enjoying the silence when I heard the familiar crunch of leaves, and the frantic steps of a person pacing underneath me. I looked down.
One of the Gryffindor girls, I think her name was Olivia, was pacing underneath, putting to herself. I caught words like “If I didn’t go…” “But if I go…” And etc. I quickly concluded that she was talking about the ball. I was going, though I wasn’t sure if I wanted a date or not. I wasn’t sure yet.
I watched as she kicked a rock in frustration, which managed to fly over the water and bounced a few times before sinking. I thought the rock was having a harder time than she was.
She screamed loudly, which made me scowl.
There was nothing that could annoy me more than when someone screams without reason. Then again, maybe her frustration was a reason. She spoke, unhappily. “I have no clothes, no friends to go with, and besides, people like me don’t fit into these kinds of situations.”
I scowled again when she said “people like me.” What was wrong with being the way she was?
I didn’t know her and I thought she would fit perfectly into a ball. She stopped her ranting and sat on a rock. I sighed.
Nyx Blackheart to the rescue I suppose.
I jumped down, and scowled at her.
“Why, pray tell, are you screaming and muttering about going to the Fall Ball?
Because, I can assure you, my ears don’t like being infested with such talks about what if and maybe not’s. So, what’s the problem then?"

Olivia was so surprised when something just jumped down right in front of her. "What me?" she exclaimed and immediately stood up. Then she exhaled when she saw that it was a girl. Olivia felt a little ashamed when she realized that she had heard everything Olivia had said.
Olivia blushed a little when the girl in front of her asked what the problem was. "Well, it's just so complicated and I don't think anyone else would understand just because it's so... complicated?" Olivia said and tried to smile.
Then she sighed and kicked another rock that flew out over the water and bounced. "I don't know what the problem is," she then admitted and snorted to herself. "But, as you probably heard, it's a combination of me having nothing to wear, no one to go with, and no idea how to do prom."
Olivia heard how stupid she sounded and groaned out loud. "I'm so fucking hopeless!"
Then she looked at the girl. "Sorry," Olivia said, smiling a little cautiously. "I really didn't mean to have a little, can you call it an outburst? Can we start from the beginning? My name is Olivia," she said, extending her hand.

I surprised the other girl, but I really couldn't care. If she didn’t want anyone to interject, she shouldn’t have been screaming like that. She blushed when I asked her what the problem was and started mumbling about how it was complicated, and that she didn’t think anyone would understand just because it was so… complicated.
She ended that making sound like a question. I raised an eyebrow. How would i know? That was her question, not mine. She kicked another rock. I vaguely thought about the merpeople who lived in the lake and wandered if one of them had been hit on the head with all the rocks this girl was kicking into the lake. She admitted that she herself didn’t know what the problem was. But that it was probably a combination of all the things she said before.
She had no dress, no one to go with, and having no idea of how to do prom. She groaned and said, “I’m so fucking hopeless!” I smirked at her words. She wasn’t hopeless, she was just overwhelmed. She looked at me and smiled cautiously before apologizing. She extended her hand and said her name was Olivia. I gave her my hand and shook it. “Blackheart. Nyx Mania Lyssa Blackheart. But you can call me whatever you want, as long as it isn’t a cutesy nickname."
"So, you don’t have a dress, no one to go with, and have no idea how to do ‘prom.’" I mused.
“Well, I can fix all 3. First of all, I have many dresses that you could use, second, since I have no one to go with either, we could go together as friends. 3rd, you can fit perfectly at prom. trust me when I say that. So, are you up for it, or do I have to spend more time convincing you of it?"

Olivia was so shocked by her straight forward answer. But then she burst into a smile. “No, you really don’t need to convince me anymore. Nyx was it, right?” Olivia said, toning down her smile a little. “You’ve saved this ball for me, thank you so much.”
Olivia felt so relieved and happy. “But if you had a suit to lend me, it would probably be a little better, I prefer not to wear a dress,” she said then with an apologetic look. Olivia knew it was safest and most comfortable that way.
“How can I repay you for this?” she then asked Nyx and tilted her head. “I mean: you’ve done me a great favor and I have to thank you in more ways than just saying thank you. Or what?”
Olivia waited for Nyx’s answer and thought that the evening might still be nice now that she actually had someone to go with. She loved Nyx's style and somehow her attitude too, it was different from most things she was used to but in a good way. Then she thought about what Nyx had said about them going as friends. It couldn't be better, it really couldn’t and Olivia was so thankful.

I smirked. She was clearly shocked and excited. She asked for a suit however instead of a dress and my smirk extended itself into a real smile. “Just my kind of person. I have more suits than I have dresses if you can believe it. In fact, I was debating myself the fact of whether or not I should wear a suit instead of a dress. Now you’ve given me a reason to.”
I knew that there was something she wasn’t telling me about her reasons to wear a suit. I could guess exactly why though. I wasn’t stupid. I knew that she was, for lack of a better or less offending word, different.
She asked me curiously how she could repay me. I could tell she wanted to thank me in more than just words. I smiled again. “The only thing I may ask of you, is that you at the very least allow me to make you stylish. After all, I have an image to uphold, no? I’m just itching to style that hair of yours. No offense meant, but it looks like it’s seen better days."
"So, it’s official. We shall go to ball together, as friends. Would you like to go to my dorm room, so that we may check all of my suits and see which one fits you best?”

Although Olivia could see in Nyx's eyes that she sensed that Olivia was hiding something. Olivia ignored the thought and hoped that Nyx wouldn't press, at least not now. It would be absolutely terrible if Nyx found out. Then everything would be ruined.
When Nyx then asked to style Olivia and her hair, Olivia smiled. "Yeah, I don't usually fix my unruly hair that often," she admitted and shrugged. "There are more important things to focus on." She thought about the full moon and the raging mountain of homework in her room.
When Nyx then asked Olivia to go to her dorm. Olivia felt her heart beat a little faster. She would hang out with someone. They would get ready for the prom. Do normal girl things. It couldn't be true. But that was it.
“Yes! Shall we?” Olivia asked a little too enthusiastically. Olivia toned down her enthusiasm a little for Nyx’s sake. She really didn’t want her to change.
