Madeline stormed along the second-floor corridor, her Hufflepuff robes swishing around her legs. “Transfiguration’s on the second floor, he says. Easy to find, he says.” She rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath. Of course Louis had lied. She should’ve known the smirk on his face wasn’t brotherly kindness — it was him setting her up for a laugh later.

Brilliant. First day. First class. And here she was, wandering around like a clueless first-year. She shoved her hands into the sleeves of her robes and glared at a line of dusty suits of armour, each one standing stiff as if daring her to ask for directions. The torches flickered, casting long, dancing shadows across the stone floor, making the hall feel longer, emptier, somehow mocking her confusion. A faint draft whispered down the corridor, carrying the faint scent of old parchment and dust.

“Cheers, Louis,” she grumbled, kicking lightly at a loose flagstone that clattered against the wall. She tried to act confident — shoulders back, chin up — but the pit in her stomach said otherwise. Every identical door she passed only reminded her that she had no idea where she was.

Then she froze. Footsteps, deliberate and soft, echoed behind her, bouncing off the stone walls. Maddy’s eyes narrowed. She plastered on her trademark grin, even though her heart was thumping like a drum. “If that’s you, Louis,” she called over her shoulder, “I’m hexing your shoes together the second I learn how.”

Ugh. Class. It's only the first few days of this year, do I really need to attend classes? Please just give me a change to rest.

Hana mumbled while walking through the corridors. It's been only a few months since she stepped foot on the stone floor, but Hogwarts corridors, it's always a pain in the arse, it's dark gloomy, with those armours standing. The worst thing is, there is not just one corridor in the whole entire castle, many, and all of them look exactly the same. How am I suppose to figure out which is which? She's a second year now, but still kind of struggle with that, so she genuinely feel bad for the first year.

Can't be late, can't be late. She thought to herself while holding up the old parchment map. She walked swift and soft, just not to draw too much attention, cause she's definitely not ashamed of holding a map, acting like a first year, but really, she's a second year now. Well, she had thought of the idea of asking help from her brother but Hana, she's not a person that will ask for help easily, she thinks and she knows she can do everything perfectly by herself, even though half the time, disasters will always happen.

Walking down the corridor, with her Gryffindor - I should be in Slytherin- robes flowing behind her and looking at the map. She heard a voice, saying something Louis and to hex someone. She stopped and looked at the figure in front of her, a Hufflepuff. "Umm. I don't think I recall anyone nicknaming me as Louis. Do I really look like a Louis to you? And whoa, stop right there, my shoes didn't do anything to you, and you better not learn how to hex, little first year. Hana said in a deadpan straight face, her usual face whenever she interacts with someone she doesn't know.

Madeline’s grin faltered for a split second, then she shook her head with a dramatic huff. “Of course you're not Louis,” she said, her voice equal parts relief and annoyance. “I mean you are a girl in full fledge form." She rolled her eyes but then said softly "I thought… well, my brother told me my class was here. Naturally, I assumed it was him sneaking up to laugh at my first-day confusion. Rookie mistake.”

Her brother had snatched her schedule from her early morning and told her to come here, where her first class would be. Maddy thought he was being suspicious but he waved her off saying 'he doesn't wants his little sister getting lost in the castle on her first day'.

Putting her attention back on the situation at hand she said;
“Although… since you’re here, standing in all your glory and Gryffindor-like, I guess I could use a hand. Lost already, first day, thanks to my lovely brother giving me totally accurate directions.”

Madeline looked at the map in the girls' hands, her mischievous grin returning. “So, my senior Gryffindor, help a confused Hufflepuff find Transfiguration? Or are we just going to stand here judging each other forever?”

Her voice dipped into mock-seriousness. “Fair warning though—any wrong turns and you’re getting full blame. Totally. Absolutely. Definitely.”

Then she spoke in her normal voice introducing herself " My name is Madeline though and I hope you dont know my brother if you do please give him a piece of my mind whenever you see him"

She linked her arm with the girls' and said half-shouting, "lets go!!"

“Good, at least you still recognise me as a girl. And honestly, who will even misrecognise their own brother, their annoying brothers. Hana looked at the girl next to her, her big almond eyes narrowed slightly as she realised she still hasn't introduced herself. “Hana, Hana Suzuki.” Extending her hand and flashing the girl a charming sweet smile.

Listening to the girl’s ranting, Hana’s eyes gleamed with amusement. “So, you’re saying your brother misled you and now you’re completely lost? Looking at the girl’s expression for a split second, and continued, “ And darling, don’t call me a Senior Gryffindor, I’m only a year older than you. Um, yea I guess I’ll try to give him a piece of your mind when I see him, though I dont know how, but I’ll try, I guess” She’s certainly an enthusiastic hufflepuff. She kind of reminds me of myself. Yep, chaotic. No no no, did it make it sound like I’m like an old lady -

Without even finishing her thought, Madeline linked her arms with Hana. Hana’s eyes widen of the proximity but laughs gently, “you’re quite excited about going to class, are you?” Eyes glancing at the linked arms of theirs.

Madeline’s grin widened at Hana’s introduction. “Hana Suzuki, nice name. Much cooler than Louis. Honestly, I dont know why I mistook you for him at all— youre too put together for that.”

“Fine, fine." She says sarcastically, "You’re not a ‘senior Gryffindor,’ you’re just… a Gryffindor who’s survived a whole extra year without getting lost and eaten by the castle walls. Which, frankly, sounds senior enough to me.” She shot Hana a crooked grin, clearly unwilling to drop the title.

At the mention of brothers, Maddy groaned loud enough taht the echo could be heard from the empty corridors, “Ugh, brothers. If Louis sets me up one more time, I swear I’m going to swap his pumpkin juice with vinegar. It’s only fair.”

She went quiet, her grin softening into a tiny sad, smile. “Truth is… I thought I’d be wearing red and gold, too. Everyone in my family’s Gryffindor. But the Hat dropped me in Hufflepuff and now I just…” She waved her free hand, trying to brush the thought aside. “Don’t exactly know what I’m doing yet. I figured if I act like I belong, maybe one day I actually will.”

Snapping back into her usual bravado, she linked her arm tighter with Hana’s and said cheerfully, “So! Map-holder. Corridor-navigator. Senior Gryffindor. Lifesaver. Get me to Transfiguration before I end up getting detention on my first day for being late.”

Raising one of her eyebrows when Hana heard the other girl praising her name, " Thanks, I suppose. I mean, Louis is not a bad name, right? " Looking at the girl for one more second, she murmured, "Though my full name is actually Hanasho Suzuki, but everyone just calls me Hana."

"I. Did not survive a whole entire year without getting lost. Let's get this right. I followed people, people who I thought was my classmates, but then I got led to the wrong classroom just to figure out that they are a year older than me. And, I need to sneak out of the classroom, to go back to the right one. That's why I prefer maps than people. Ugh, why did I even mention this embarrassing moment. I would definitely hex myself if I could. This damn memory is the most embarrassing thing Hana encountered in her first year, and she really really hoped that someone could obliviate her. But honestly, it's not that bad, at least, no one noticed her cause she's quite short among those fourth years at that time.

Hearing Madeline talking about how she thought she's going to be a Gryffindor but ended up in Hufflepuff, Hana nods empathetically, relating to her own experience. Hana's eyes softens, looking at her and said "Hey, don't be sad, I'm sure you will fit into Hufflepuff, the sorting hat's choice is never wrong, right?" Even Hana's a bit skeptical of what she said. "You know, when I first stepped foot into the Great Hall, I thought I would be joining the Green and Silver table, where my brother is, and my father was. Everyone thought I would be a perfect Slytherin, sly, cunning and a prankster. And let's not mention the fact that, they got me a snake embroidered pouch. But guess what, now, I'm a Gryffindor. It's hard to get use to the fact, but it is not a shame, and it never will be. It's just who you are, maybe, you're just a huffepuff in your heart.

She smiles at Madeline, who is still very enthusiastic about going to classes. "Don't call me a lifesaver yet. I mean, maybe I'm a troublemaker. Maybe I'll lead you to the wrong class deliberately. Peeking at the girl, she continues. "Just kidding, wouldn't want you to get in detention. Let's go to Transfiguration. Wait, no, I mean, go to your Transfiguration class"
