Late afternoon

*So glad it's OVER !*
After a day of classes, the afternoon had become Landsey's best friend. It wasn't that he didn't like it, but it was true that, having had private lessons at home his whole life, where he could take breaks whenever he wanted, the change was drastic when faced with a teacher who didn't stop, and other students around him didn't help his already poor concentration.
Still full of energy, the Gryffindor hopped around and did a few push-ups, followed by other physical exercises. He hung from the top of each pillar in the hallway, did pull-ups, then dropped to the ground and jogged around the fountain. He climbed up on one side, climbed down, and started again, but on the other foot. After a good ten minutes, the boy sits down at the water's edge and lets out a satisfied sigh, a big smile on his lips, his fangs slightly protruding from his lips.
*It feels so good to move, I want to go for another run !*
He listens attentively to the water flowing behind from the fountain, before impulsively throwing his head back. He exhales all the air from his nose, creating a wave of bubbles in the water, before standing up again in one swift movement. He laughs loudly, then shakes his hair with both hands, drops dripping down his cheeks onto his uniform. His red and white hair, already almost half dry, falls onto his shoulders, two or three braids visible at the nape of his neck. Amused by his own foolishness, he calms down slightly and decides to head back to his dormitory. He walks quietly, paying attention to nothing except the moss spreading across the walls of the courtyard. So, of course, he bumps into someone's shoulder and, taken by surprise, steps back immediately. He blushes with shame as he meets the annoyed caramel gaze of the girl in front of him, and freezes, not moving an inch.

"Uh, sorry, hi-"

Nova was still storming down the Owlery, her anger still bubbling inside as she walked though the corridors she found herself in. All she could think about was the letter from Oliver. It was still clenched in her hand and she tightened her fist, hearing the sound of parchment ripping and creasing. Oliver was scared, and they hardly even noticed, too busy in their own matters. Swivelling on her heel, she ended up in the large courtyard.

There was a breeze that washed over her, making her shiver just slightly. It looked calm, even peaceful. Nova continued walking, leaves crunching under her harsh steps. Her vision blurred, and she quickly made up her mind to find a quiet classroom, preferably one with a hearth so she could burn the letter. Whether there would be anything to burn by the time she got there, she'd have to find out.

Scoffing quietly, she started to change her path to take a shortcut to find a classroom when she suddenly collided into someone's shoulder. At that, Nova snapped, whirling around to yell. "Watch where you're going!" Her voice rang throughout the mostly empty courtyard and she found the person she bumped into towering over her.

He had an apologetic expression on his face, and he had hardly said a word when Nova pulled out her wand and sharply muttered. "Mucus ad Nauseam." The courtyard felt too still, too calm compared to the storm surging inside her. Her hand stayed clenched around the torn letter as the boy looked up—no, down—at her. She could feel Trixie's soft fur against her neck as she squeaked in both surprise and alarm.

An electric sensation runs through Landsey's body, making him grit his teeth. Not being very good at spells, he is unable to tell what the young woman, with the angry look on her face, has just cast at him. His throat stings and his nose tickles, which does nothing to reassure him.
*Did I catch a cold because of the water in the fountain ?*
He coughs slightly, covering his mouth with his hand. It would be cool if he could avoid passing his cold to others. When the Hufflepuff tightens her grip on her wand, unable to tell if she's going to do the same thing again, the boy swallows. In a single stride, being much taller than the girl, he effortlessly grabs both of her wrists to prevent her from struggling, pulling them up, an annoyed grimace on his face despite his cheeks red with shame.

"I've got nothing against you but stop with your stupid spells ! We just bumped into each other, relax ! I don't want to hurt you. Plus, you're a girl..."

Looking down at her, he notices her blond-tipped hair and light brown eyes, reminding him of precious stones, like tiger's eye. He says nothing, but his grip relaxes slightly, without losing its firmness. His pink eyes shine with incomprehension, his jaw as tense as the rest of his body. He doesn't know what to do, caught between his values and his classmate's inexplicable reactions.

"Can you explain me why you're attacking ? Don't give me the excuse that ‘you ran into me’, you weren't looking where you were going either."

Nova’s breath hitched as his hands closed around her wrists, and the sheer audacity of it made her pause. Her eyes widened in surprise before narrowing again. Tugging her arms away, she quickly hissed. “Let go of me!” Her knuckles whitened around the letter, which was still crumpled in her palm and mostly torn. Her glare got fiercer, eyes burning into the ones towering above her.

Feeling the boy’s grip loosen on her wrists, she tugs her hands away successfully while almost dropping her wand. Steadying her footing, Nova whipped her head up to meet the boy’s gaze. His nose was dripping, and he looked feverish. She raised an eyebrow as she noticed his unnaturally pink eyes. Blinking hard as if it was a trick of the light, confusion filled her before she snapped out of it.

“What—are you staring at me for?” she snapped, her tone a mix of irritation and something far more fragile. “You bump into me, grab me like I’m some kind of criminal, and now you’re looking at me like I’m the problem?” Her voice rang across the courtyard, breaking the calm around them. Nova could hear Trixie’s tentative squeak in her ear but she hardly reacted, still angered. Squaring her shoulders, she crossed her arms and took a deep breath as her rage slowly began to subside, leaving only irritation.

"Hey, we just bumped into each other, it's noth ! You're the one who threw a spell at my face, for no reason ! And I'm NOT even looking at you, I... I'm rambling !"

Landsey coughs again, then sneezes loudly.
*What, did I really get sick from a little water on my head ?! Impossible.*
Annoyed, the boy runs a hand through his red and white hair, the damp strands falling over his forehead. His jaw is clenched, but he takes a deep breath, gradually calming his anger.

"I don't care why you're upset, it's probably justified, but that's not a reason to spit your venom at people like that. If you've a problem, talk to your friends or an adult instead of sulking alone in your corner !"

He looks at the girl again, still admiring her beautiful amber eyes, even if her small size makes him feel strangely huge. The more time he spends at this school, the more he becomes aware of his nature as a half-giant. Another tingling sensation creeps into his throat, causing him to mutter a silent curse under his breath.
*My head hurt so much, it's hot-*
But when he sees the Hufflepuff's bruised wrists, his annoyance disappears instantly. Ashamed, he reaches out gently to her, worried, but ultimately takes a step back, afraid of hurting her again.

"I don't control my strength very well, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have grabbed you like that. But, you surprised me okay ? Don't be mad at me... You need to put some ointment on it. Are you okay with me taking you to the infirmary ? Please ?"

Nova's eyes narrowed at the boy, shoulders still tense and mouth set in a firm line. She didn't back away when he tried to step closer before recoiling in guilt, which just made the frustration twist deeper in her chest. Her wrists were now slightly bruised, throbbing dully where he had grabbed her before pulling away. His apologies were muffled in her ears despite his distraught expression, and she gave him a flat look.

"...You're weird," she stated, eyes scanning him up and down—his red and white hair was damp and clinging to his skin, voice ridiculously concerned for someone who had just gotten hexed by someone more than half their size, which was something that now intrigued Nova more than it surprised her. The letter was now torn in her hand, the crushed parchment digging into her palm. Glancing down at it once, jaw still tight, she scoffed.

“I don’t need to go to the Hospital Wing,” she snapped, though her voice had lost some of its edge. “I can handle a bruise.” Nova crossed her arms, shifting her weight around before sliding her wand back into its hidden spot in her sleeve. She wasn’t sure what annoyed her more: that he grabbed her, or that he meant well. Her stance now was more closed off than threatening—protective, even.

Her gaze flicked back to the boy, and she couldn’t help but frown, more confused than angry now. He looked like he was trying not to wobble, and it would’ve been funny—almost pathetic—if it wasn’t so earnest. Who gets hexed and then offers to walk their attacker to the Hospital Wing? What was wrong with him? He had no idea what he was doing. Neither did she, but at least she didn’t go around offering apologies and concern to people who threw spells at her.

The whole hassle left a bad taste in her mouth, and she thought for a moment. "I think you should go," she muttered, her voice lower now—tight, but not biting. She nodded slightly, just once, toward the path behind him. “You need the Hospital Wing.” For a brief second, something like regret flickered behind her gaze before she looked away. She didn't make a move to leave, standing there as her anger cooled down into something much more manageable.

Still sniffling, Landsey tries to suppress a little smirk as he watches his classmate's behavior change. He sees the hesitation, then the avoidance, before the offer. But he refuses to go to the Hospital Wing without taking the girl with him, even if it means making up some flimsy excuse. Because she needs a treatment too. His cheeks are now flushed, like a fever, and he dares to approach a little closer, his pale pink eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Well, that's a shame, but someone will have to accompany me. What if I collapse in the middle of a corridor, all alone, by myself ?"

He gives a small, amused, but gentle laugh, his concern for the Hufflepuff still lingering. After all, bruises become a real nuisance in places like that. She had just cast a spell on him, what would she do if the pain prevented her from casting more during class ? His head starts to spin, and he feels nauseous. He doesn't say anything, but his sense of balance is becoming blurred, and he's no longer sure how to stand.
*I'm not sick at all, it's her spell that's putting me in this state, urgh.*
He grits his teeth and leans against a stone pillar in the corridor, its coolness allowing him to regain some composure, smiling again.

"So ? Take me there, please. I don't even remember where is the infirmary..."

Nova furrowed her brows, both confused and annoyed at the Gryffindor's expression. He seemed to be grinning at her, something she scoffed at. What could he possibly be laughing about after being cursed and slowly losing his ability to stand upright? Only he could know. It was weird. He was weird. She wanted to ignore it, push past him, and pretend she didn’t notice. But the more unsteady he became, the more that faint tug of concern dug its claws in.

Her lips parted in a slightly irritated sigh, glaring at him as he clung to the pillar nearby, His cheeks were flushed, eyes glassy and breath uneven. All signs that the spell was working, but it had clearly hit harder than she expected it to. It certainly didn't seem like it was going anywhere good if she decided to just leave him there and follow through on her original plan. “Merlin’s…” she muttered under her breath, and rolled her eyes exasperatedly.

“Honestly,” she muttered, voice loud enough for him to hear and sharp to cover the flicker of guilt burning at her ears, “you’ve got to be the worst dueling partner alive. Who gets hit with a spell and just stands there smiling like an idiot?” She glanced up, unimpressed, and let out a breath through her nose, muttering something vague and unflattering under her breath as she stepped closer, close enough for Trixie to wiggle nervously under her collar.

“If you pass out in the middle of the courtyard I’m not explaining that to anyone. Or carrying you. I’ll just drag you by the ankle and call it a day.” Her voice was flat, but at least he seemed gullible enough to believe it. "Come on before you fall over and make this whole thing even more annoying.” With an irritated glance to make sure he could walk at least somewhat straight, Nova pivoted sharply on her heel, hair brushing her shoulders as she began to walk towards the Hospital Wing.

The young Gryffindor ran a hand through his soaked hair, his forehead sticky with sweat and fever, his urge to close his eyes stronger than any of his sniffing. Despite everything, he smile, his sharp teeth protruding almost crudely from his lips.

"I may be an incompetent dueling partner, but using me as a scapegoat didn't bother you for a sec' !"

Landsey's face lit up as he watched the girl lead the way, her long, curly hair dancing behind her with every step. Delighted to have her with him, he moved forward quickly, walking behind her at a reasonable distance, but close enough to make their height difference glaringly obvious.
*Whoah, this is worse than with my mother.*
If he could, the boy would surely put his hand on the Hufflepuff's head, as much to annoy her as to fully see their difference size to mock it gently. But he quickly remembered why the young woman was in this annoying situation, with him. Was it really his fault from the start ? After all, he had just squeezed her wrist like a beast, he had the right to be worried. Reinvigorated by the girl's acceptance, but ashamed that it came to hands, the boy remained silent, following his guide wisely, his head bowed in her direction, as if to make sure that she did not disappear at any moment.
