Lore Enquiry
Hi, I'm new to the site and I'm currently working on info for my ency. I'd like to know the etiquette for writing up backgrounds. Should I run ideas by someone to avoid conflicts with the site's lore? Or do I simply write everything up and submit it to the index applications then await feedback?
I've cross-checked and researched what I can with existing information from here as well as HP resources but I have some specific questions (mainly about Cecilia's parents being aurors).
Thank you in advance!

You're all good to just write your background lore for your character and submit it to Index! Feel free to owl me with any questions since Av's father is an auror!Cecilia Merrick wrote: 3 Sep 2025, 19:44 Hi, I'm new to the site and I'm currently working on info for my ency. I’m a member of the index team, you’re welcome to contact me if you have any questions, too. Even if there is something that you need to change, though, we’ll work with you on it – your app won’t be fully denied because of lore issues – so you’d be fine to just post it as is. Part of the point of having people apply for index is so that we can straighten out any issues or lore inconsistencies; it wouldn’t make sense for you to have to run it by someone beforehand because that’s what the whole process of indexing does. As long as you include detail and don’t leave out major facets of the character or things like big family secrets that may clash with lore, it’ll be okay.Cecilia Merrick wrote: 3 Sep 2025, 19:44 Hi, I'm new to the site and I'm currently working on info for my ency. Oh bless, thank you! That makes perfect sense actually. Also thank you for the offer, it is much appreciated. I'll send over these questions as I may have to rework major things if it doesn't work.Silas Norwood wrote: 3 Sep 2025, 21:16I’m a member of the index team, you’re welcome to contact me if you have any questions, too.
