The Season Of Autumn
She loved taking a walk around the grounds. It was always such a pleasing thing especially when the trees turned red and orange like her hair and freckles. Elia pulled her scarf a little closer around her neck and face and adjusted her schoolbag on her shoulders before walking to her favorite tree.
Elia sat underneath her favorite tree and pulled out a blanket and book from her bag. She cozied up under the tree in a nice spot where the roots separated so perfectly, it was almost like a chair. It was her favorite place to study or relax after a class. Today, she brought "Hogwarts A History" and was going to re-read it for the 10th time since she first bought it.
Elia opened the page to her bookmark and began to read. The wind whirled and whipped around her as she read, occasionally tossing the blanket off of her and making her move to grab it. After the 5th time of repositioning herself,, she grabbed a large rock and placed a corner of the blanket underneath. Frustrated, she opened her book once more and began to read.
At least she tried to.
She looked up just in time to see a large clump of leaves fly at her face. It smacked her in the face and fell onto her book, soaking page 119.
There was silence. As if the wind was mocking her.
"I HATE THESE LEAVES!!!"

The Season Of Autumn
“Well the leaves are my favorite part!”
Elia looked to the voice that had just spoken. She gave a small “eep” and hid her face behind her soggy book. When she peeled out, a girl was standing there looking at her as if she expected an answer.
“S..Sorry. I’ve been...I’ve been trying-I’ve been trying to read. Excuse...Excuse my...my stutter” Elia stared shyly. The girl didn’t move. Elia looked around at the surroundings. It was still quiet, and it looked like the two girls where the only ones out there. Elia looked back at the girl and scooted over.
“Would you...would...would you like to sit?” She ventured cautiously. She shocked herself with that statement. Since when did a stuttering nobody like her talk to people?
Elia wrapped her scarf around her neck and picked her book back up once she saw the stranger make no movement. Ah well. It usually happened
She turned the page in her soggy textbook and continued to read quietly, occasionally lookin up at the visitor.
“I...I don’t..I don’t hate...hate.. I don’t hate the leaves. They just won’t... They won’t... They blew into my face.” She explained. Hopefully she hadn’t offended the girl with her statement. But in this day and age, who really knows.
