A train ride
It was a chilly day out. Audrey dragged her suitcase behind her and heaved it onto the train. She didn't want to hire a porter. Her family had already hugged her goodbye and they now stood somewhat tearfully behind her as they watched her board. She waved to them and smiled, and entered the train.
She sat down in a seat close to the back of the car. No one else was in the aisle. She saw lots of young students, most about her age. They chattered among themselves. Many were like her, choosing to watch and stay quiet.
Audrey kept her head down and pulled out one of her textbooks, flipping through it to become familiar with it. It wouldn't hurt to do a bit of studying.
She flipped through her book, taking notes of what each chapter taught. Some things she hadn't even heard of. However, this task eventually became dull. After about ten minutes of reading, the droning chugging of the train and murmur of voices became soothing. Her eyelids grew heavy and her head began to dip up and down. The words on the page blurred and she read without processing what she was reading. After a few more minutes, she fell asleep.
