A letterless day
I sigh worriedly as I feed Winter a biscuit. Last week my mother sent me a letter saying my grandma was sick. A cold for now at least that's what she said. But my mother is notorious for holding the whole story back. So it could be worse. After I received my mothers letter I sent two back. One to my grandmother and the second to my father. Both of them saying the same thing.Word count: 296

Now here I am. Staying up in the owlery waiting for an owl. And writing one. To my mother. I pull out a quill and black ink. Dipping my quill into the ink I start writing.
I fold up the letter and put the letter down next to winter. She goes too pick it up and I whisper to her to not do that. She listens and I give her another treat. I pull out chocolate and nibble on it while I wait anxiously and hoping for my fathers or grandmas owl. I here a noise and turn around behind me. There's only 3 other kids here. And ones currently laying on the ground. I rush over to the girl and help her up. SHe mumbles thanks then leaves. Once that's done I go back to my spot. Noticing another girl staring at me I smile politely at her.Dear Mother,Date: September 10th 2025
I got your letter about grandma! I've been so worried! I sent two to her and father but still no reply. So I thought I might as well send one to you. I everything alright? Please tell me that this isn't a bigger deal than you are making it. Please send me an answer ASAP. And tell grandma and father that I love them

A letterless day

Ashrael has been at Hogwarts for ten whole days. Her father has written to her but she hasn’t written back. It’s not that she didn’t want to but more because she didn’t think he really cared how she was doing. She decided to make him wait for a reply. He would know that she was mad at her. At first she told him before she left that she didn’t want to come to Hogwarts. He of course refused to listen. She didn’t think she would make any friends or be treated nicely at all. It was what she was used to.
She had to admit that she had been wrong so far about Hogwarts. People haven’t treated her differently yet. Of course no one really knows her, which Ashrael thought was a good thing. This is a fresh start for her and although she didn’t want to let her father know how she was doing. She knew she had to write to him eventually. She looked at the parchment that she had written in her dorm room while she was heading to the owlery.
She was almost at the top of the stairs when she dropped her letter that she was going to send to her father. It flew into the owlery. Ash ran in to get it but instead there was someone inside. She looked at the Gryffindor girl startled. The letter ended up landing by the girl’s feet. Ashrael didn’t know how to react. She had never seen this girl before or at least she didn’t think so. She gave an awkward smile before saying in a hesitant tone “Hello” Ash’s eyes looked down to her letter then back at the girl looking a bit nervous.Dear Daddy,September 10th, 2025
I’m sorry I didn’t write sooner. I've been so busy trying to get acclimated here at the school. It’s an adjustment but I am doing well. I know I didn’t want to come in the beginning but Hogwarts so far has been different than I expected. I will continue to stay and see how things go. If I feel that I don’t belong here then I will write back having you expect my immediate return. I do hope things continue to go well. It has been interesting. I will write back to let you know how things are progressing.
