A faint drizzle was heard on the other side of the stained window, the translucid droplets of water dropping from the sky violently crashing against the glass, creating one of these serene atmosphere Elena longed for every day. Sat on the lowest step of one amongst the many staircases in the castle that led absolutely nowhere - or at the very least, that few people walked on - the raven was leaning against the cold, hard stoned walls, eyes semi-closed. The melted gold of her curls was separated in two thick braids, and she absentmindedly fiddled with one of them, slender fingers combing the edge of it. A heavy leather bag rested on the march just above, its content tossed and turned in every possible direction. It was highly probably one of her many ink pots had been breached, yet she could not be bothered to verify.

Humming softly, the blonde girl was lost in another world entirely, her mind weaving melodies to the appeasing rain. She had actually intended to go... somewhere. The memory escaped her mind, and she could not quite remember where she was headed. But she had walked with her usual decided pace, steps as light as a feather twirling to the ground. The vertigo had came out of nowhere. Disconcerting, unexpected and without understandable cause. Her night had gone quite well, considering her usual standards, she had feasted at the morning table, a halfway drunk bottle of water awaited in her bag and only a very faint headache inhabited her brain. Still, she found herself stumbling over her own steps, the world suddenly seeming unreachable, as the earth tipped and the ground was coming at a concerning speed. She had half a second to react, and she did so by pivoting slightly, allowing her right arm to cushion the call.

Praying to her dead ancestors that no one would walk in on such a bizarre situation, she let her body a few minutes of floor time before attempting to lift herself from the cold stones. She sat, slowly, head still spinning, before dragging herself to the steps.

She had been here for an undetermined amount of time - the position was so comfortable she hadn't even considered the possibility of getting up again and resuming her path to heavens knows where. Yawning, she opened her eyes again, and let her blue gaze lead her thoughts away from this nasty fall. I wonder when the first snow will be. Despite autumn being her favourite season, she could not deny the sheer beauty of winter, and caught herself longing for it. Snowballs, snowmen, snowflakes... They had actually learned a snowflake-making charm a few months ago. Wondering if she still remembered it, she leaned to grab her wand, before concentrating.

"Nix Facitur," she whispered, drawing a sort of vertical 'ok'. Instantly small, brilliant snowflakes were twirling down from the ceiling. She grinned, leaning against the wall once more, and let herself become completely absorbed in their descent to the ground. After a solid ten minutes, her eyes felt heavy, and she slowly drifted into the comfortable in-between worlds daydreamers often find.

These things took time. Every knit and purl, again and again, took time. Time she should have been studying or something was woven in her craft. But Maisie wouldn't have it any other way. To her, art was not only an expression of self; art was love.

So, perhaps it should be of no surprise to anyone that she had developed a new project to reflect the care and support she had felt in Ravenclaw house. It started with Mylo, who seemingly had always been a prefect, but more recently had been appointed Duelling Captain. Any sort of accomplishment such as this surely was deserving of a hand-made scarf. But as she worked on it these past few months, she remembered Mylo was not the only prefect in Ravenclaw. And then there was the sinking realization that she barely knew any of the others. She did not, of course, expect to be best friends with everyone, but it would be nice to at least know more than a name.

Enter the project: scarves for all the Ravenclaw prefects. It was time consuming and bit of a gamble considering she didn't know very much about any of their tastes, but if nothing else, it would be a conversation starter. By now, she'd just finished Elena Clark's: a darker navy yarn with little flecks of grey and silver. There was something about Elena that was classic but had a twist; she was elegant in her way from what Maisie had seen of her in the common room. Hopefully, this would fit the bill.

She'd stuffed this and some other knitting in her satchel that afternoon hoping she might encounter some of the recipients. Originally, she thought catching them on patrol would be easiest but she didn't actually know what part of the castle each one was responsible for. Instead, it was easier to just carry everything around in case she ran into one of them.

And that was how she found Elena. Maisie had turned a corner when things seemed different as her vision became obscured with tiny tufts of white. They came from the ceiling above, artistically falling into a small space in the corridor, where a blonde girl was leaning against the wall. "Elena?" she queried because it was a little hard to tell from just a profile, but she did look very much like girl who seemed to always have this otherworldly elegance about her. "I don't mean to be bothering you, but I made you this. I was knitting for all the Ravenclaw prefects as a kind of 'thank you' and, well, this one is for you," she explained as she rummaged through her satchel and took out the scarf. She held it out in her palms for Elena to take as some snowflakes landed on the wool, mixing effortlessly with the grey flecks of the textile.

Smiling, hopefully this was a good momento as winter approached.

Slowly drifting on the never-ending stream of unconsciousness, the raven was deep within that particular state of semi-slumber where she could hear and feel the world around her, yet her body felt detached from herself. A moment she had often experienced during those endless nights spent eyes wide opened, trying to force herself into the realm of morpheus. It felt like growing wings and soaring through the skies, rising like smoke curls and twists. The raven suddenly sensed another presence entering the area, and her eyes fluttered open just before a brown haired girl walked in, carrying with her a deep aura of a warm buttercup color. She appeared like the type of person to spark smiles wherever she stepped by her enthusiasm, as if butterflies accompanied her wherever she stepped.

"Elena?"

Realizing her current position, Elena detached herself from the wall, stretching slightly before smiling at the newcomer. In other circumstances she might have wondered if the girl was here for her, but the abandoned staircase was so deeply buried within the castle it seemed unlikely she was here by chance and hasard. Plus, the raven was the only other breathing creature here, and the girl was pointing those deep chocolate eyes right at her. "Hi," she beamed, tilting her head slightly to the left.

"I don't mean to be bothering you, but I made you this. I was knitting for all the Ravenclaw prefects as a kind of 'thank you' and, well, this one is for you."

Her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to make out where this conversation was headed, unsure if she should recognise the girl or not. Upon seeing her fetch something in her bag and handing it to her, the very same eyebrows shot upwards, as her mouth dropped. "For me ?" She repeated, incredulous, as a childish grin started to spread on her rose lips. Not wasting a second, she delicately took the crafted object, marveling at the intricate woven pattern. The color was the specific tint of her favourite hue of blue, and the specks of freckles scattered alongside the threads made it even more perfect.

"Really ?" She asked, looking back at the incredibly generous stranger standing before her. "I-", she stammered, looking back and forth, as the grin only spread, "I don't know what to say, it looks gorgeous."

This girl must have been an disguised angel sent to spread smiles and cheer, there was no other solution. Truly impressed by the sheer kindness she possessed, Elena titled her navy eyes back at her, hands brushing gently the soft wool. "I deeply apologise, but I don't recall your name ?"

It was timid: "Hi." And Maisie was for a short second concerned that this was a silly idea, bothering a prefect, even if she did share classes with her. Being a prefect meant that Elena was above her, more important, more responsible and just plain cooler.

But she didn't back away. Finding a new recipient wouldn't be that hard but Mylo would certainly notice if they had a scarf and no one else did on the Ravenclaw prefect team after she'd told them about it.

Elena, meanwhile, seemed surprised. But Maisie just nodded as she kept the scarf extended in her direction. "I wasn't completely sure of your style. I was just kind of guessing by what you like to wear and leaning on house colors, of course," she explained as she waited. But that all seemed like just gilding the lily when Elena proclaimed it 'gorgeous.' Maisie's eyes lit up the way they did when she and her mother delivered a perfect dress to a customer. She smiled gently, proud of the work. Maybe this was a good idea after all. "I'm so glad you like it," she commented.

She looked briefly back around the corridor, wondering which way might lead her to the next Ravenclaw Prefect she had to find. But that's when Elena's question cut across the air and she felt some of that joy fall of her face. "Oh, I'm Maisie. We have Transfiguration together," she tried to remind the Prefect. Though she couldn't really blame her for blocking it out—Transfiguration was awful.

"Anyway, I just thought, you all could use something a shinny and fun to break up the monotony of being a Prefect," she explained. After all, Mylo always needed something fun. There was no reason not to share with the others as well. "Do you like it?" she asked. Mylo certainly seemed to, but Maisie had no interest in the role and it's restrictiveness. In some ways, she almost felt bad, but it was an honor all the same.

Not wanting to impose on Elena's time, she cocked her head and asked, "And do you know where I could find the rest of the Ravenclaw prefects?" It had been kind of lucky to run into Elena here, but it would be really great if they had a watering hole were they all hung out. It would certainly make it easier to distribute the scarves that way.

Hands buried deep within the soft, dreamy wool, Elena had issues connecting her neurones back to reality. The situation felt quite surreal, and as she was previously drifting between consciousness and slumber, this whole interaction being a mere product of her imagination was not completely impossible.

Indeed, a shy, sweet girl whom she had never met before was currently standing before her as though sent from heavens above, offering an item that — despite their acquaintance having never occurred — seemed crafted specifically for the honey haired raven. Not only was it her favourite colour, but it was the specific hue of that very same colour, and silver stars were woven through the material.

Surreal.

"It's perfect," she blurted out in response to the other's babillage, "truly... perfect." Not wasting a second, she quickly wrapped her new favourite scarf around her neck, the smooth and thick textile molding itself to the curves of her throat, falling in a gentle wave on her shoulders. "Perfect," she repeated, fighting the urge to squirm happily from the agreeable sensation.

Her smile faltered as the lovely girl — Maisie — explained they had transfiguration together, meaning the raven should have recalled at the very least seeing her once or twice. "Truly sorry," she frowned, sheepish, "I have an awful time remembering faces." And names, that is. Stars above, why is my memory so selective. The moonchild could perfectly recite, sometimes up to the comma, books she had only read a few times ; she could name all of the constellations depicted on the nightsky ; had no issues recalling lessons she had just heard ; and yet. And yet she could converse with someone for an entire week and not recognise them the next day. Alright, I'm exaggerating a bit, I admit. Though the reality is not that truly far.

"That is such a sweet initiative," she smiled in response, before nodding aggressively. "I love it." Her eyebrows creased into a frown upon hearing her next question. The only tangible reply she could think of was the common room, but if Maisie had come all this way to find her it must mean she had already tried this option. "Around the prefect's bathroom ?" she ventured, unsure. "We don't exactly have ralliaments areas, it would depend on each prefect. I'm only truly familiar with Aston, and I think you could perhaps find him around the quidditch or the duelling area ?"
