summer camp | London Quidditch Stadium

Since he was old enough to know what it was, music had always been a passion of Hans’. Exposed to his parents’ surprisingly eclectic tastes at a young age, and having listened in to whatever his grandfather was into, as well as joined quite a few vocal groups, choirs, and even performed solo for your school talent show, he had his fair share of the musical arts. Hell, he might not have been one for poetry, but he even tried lyrics writing at some point. Yet only since his second year at Durmstrang had he decided that he too would start contributing to its development in the form of an instrument.
The lucky instrument that drew his interest was the guitar. He had picked it up for its versatility and its portability, and while he read up on theory at school, he received it as a gift for his birthday from his opa, and a few starting courses with an instructor over the summer. Hans seemed to have been quite the natural at the instrument, which he prided himself in — music was certainly a talent he ought to have explored further. Combined with Nikolai’s violin, Valentin’s piano, and Astrid’s voice, well, they could very well make a Laplands Student Band.
Hans had always been one in favour of showing off his skills, and getting possible rewards for them? That was an even better deal. So Hans had pretty much found a shaded area under a tree and set up shop. Granted, it wasn’t much of a booth in comparison to the others; he seemed fairly late to the event and was not in the mood to make something glittery out of cardboard. So instead, he “borrowed” a lawn chair from God knows where, set it out in that nice patch of grass away from the sun, and started tuning his guitar. The only thing that separated him from a pure hobbyist was a sign that was informative enough. It had a short list of songs he knew from the Greatest Showman.
Of course, since his mind already landed on the topic of the musical, he had to praise the organisers’ for this month’s event. Last year’s winter theme was well designed, yet he had grown used to the long coldness of Durmstrang. But Muggle musicals were certainly an under appreciated topic, and the desolation and isolation behind the glitz and glamour of an act was portrayed in gold in the show. Naturally, he decided to stay on theme, but anyone could also request something, as long as he knew how to play, which he probably didn’t. And in that case? The voice was still there, at least.
And his first costumer? Unexpected, certainly.

@Hans Jenssen-SchäferOonagh had went to the summer camp with more or less low and high expectations at the very same time, odd as that sounded. She was sure it would bring a lot of boredom, especially if it was anything like the last summer camp in which she had mostly been stuck in snowy weather which had been so annoying! They already had so little sun per year and she had been stuck over a month in a winter that should have been a summer. Instead of rainy days with occasional, blessed summer days, she had been lucky when there was not snowflakes and freezing temperatures ruining her day and making her curls frizz and be a pain to manage.
This summer camp at the very least had promised to not turn the little bit of summer time they had into winter wonderlands and instead had a different theme that was, actually, quite fun to think about. It was an amusement park! And Oonagh found it quite fun to check out the rides the camps had offered. It was a little bit confusing to her that the school would go through this much effort just to have students spent the summer together. Whenever she thought back to the school organized events back at home, she ended up grimacing.
Those were basically just annoying, but also kind of fun of course, but mostly dreadful when it came to sleeping arrangements. Like cramming entire classrooms into a communal tent or tiny room with a lot of quadruple bunk beds that reached from floor to ceiling and squeaked whenever another student so much as shifted in their sleep. So yes, perhaps these school camp experiences she was making now were entirely different levels of fancy and sure she did quite enjoy her time despite throwing about frowny faces and sour expressions. And she did enjoy a good fight or two on occasion.. perhaps more than on occasion actually, but that was beside the point.
As she now found herself walking through various stands at the fair, she sighed and began chewing on a giant gummy worm she had purchased at a previous stand with one of those festival tokens they got for playing games or participating in events. Again something that reminded her somewhat of home, of arcades she would occasionally visit with friends from school or her dad would take her there. However there was the distinct lack of electricity and thus not everything could be recreated. One of her favourite games to play at arcades was the rodeo ride on fake bulls where she and some school friends would bet skittles or m&ms on whoever would be able to withstand the forces of gravity the longest as they held on to the rigged contraption. Oonagh's tenacity often meant that she would consume more candy that would probably have been healthy for a nine or ten year old and she would quite happily do it again.
It was then that she passed a stall and had to pause as she recognized its occupant from last year's summer camp. A boy she had been the unwilling cause for one of her more entertaining days in the frozen summer time. She immediately began to approach with a grin on her face, "Yo, snowflake!" she chirped, before tearing off a piece of the gummy worm with her teeth as she walked up to the boy, chewing the gummy bear akin to what people would quite possibly describe as barbaric or uncouth.
Oonagh did not really sense any bad blood between them, despite their last interaction ending in quite a lot of punches, kicks and the occasional bite or scratch attempt being thrown around. Though even if there had been any bad blood, surely a year of time was enough to flood water over the bridges, right?
"Whit are ye doing, huh?" She tried to glance around at the stall and get a sense of what it would be about as she continued chewing on the tough gummy sweet, the taste reminiscent of cherries and cola, which were quite classic gummy flavours as she knew as someone who would quite often stop by stores and throw her pocket change at the candy store employees in exchange for filling her pocket full of various treats.
It was not hard to figure this was something to do with music as her gaze fell upon the guitar the boy was holding.

“Whit are ye doing, huh?”
Hans, caught surprised from tuning his guitar, glanced up at the arrival with fleeting eyes, mild interest visible in those chocolate brown wells, yet edged with a line of restraint and tranquility. He raised a rascally brow when recognition hit. There was something so familiar in the roguish glint of her blue eyes, something so familiar in the way she carried herself like a lion on prowl. Yet truly it was the mane of blonde hair that left a trail of memory in Hans’ mind, connecting it to a name and an incident of childish roughhousing.
Nothing he would consider doing today, Hans reminded himself.
There brief meetings had resulted in insults, a fight, with both words and fists thrown, but... all in good nature, right? Yet he had grown more mature, and found other ways to express that odd sort of rivalry. In fact, there need not be a rivalry between at all. He strummed his guitar once, going through all the strings as he offered the girl a sidelong glance in an attempt to recall her name. Charmingly enough to disarm, he spoke. “I hope you are here for a song, and not a fight, miss… Oonagh?”
