Lost and Found
Summer Camp 2025 - 13:55 - Aug 12
Ok, it was completely official... Nick was lost. He had been running in circles around the brightly colored tents and the loud music coming from somewhere, and even though he had walked more than he ever had in his life, he still found himself in between game tents and the food court.
At some point, walking so much got him hungry and now he was lost, slightly tired, and holding a multitude of snacks in his arms, with half a chicken BBQ in his mouth. Delicious but, it was definitely not a map.
He wasn't necessarily sure what he was looking for, truth be told he didn't have a place to be, and he just wanted to find some interesting things to see and to get from the booths, so far all that was just food and more food.
His eyes couldn't focus completely, there were way too many things to look at in order to pay attention, in fact, he was for sure walking with his head up, staring at the colorful sparks someone had lit up with their wands somewhere.
He managed to survive like that for about ten more minutes before he stepped on someone's foot and slammed face first against some other kid his age that was unfortunate enough to be standing in front of him.
"Ow! Sorry Sorry!" Nick immediately said, stepping backwards to try gaining his balance back and not drop any of his delicious snacks. "Are you ok? I'm so sorry I didn't see you!" Then he gasped softly when he saw who it was, Oh it was the girl he had been paired with on the tent! Nick had been so eager to explore he didn't even give the girl a second glance when they were put together in the new tent, he just wandered off immediately before. Now he managed to almost tackle the poor girl to the floor! Great first introduction...

Lost and Found
Madelynn was walking, as quiet as she possibly could. She was trying to get through the crowd without bothering anyone. She didn’t like to be seen and she didn’t want to be annoying. So she just walked and walked. She had gotten lost when she had tried to clean something. Again. She had just found so many spots to clean. And she didn’t want to leave it all to the summer camp staff, she knew they weee most likely busy. So she had to do her part.
Though she was getting a bit panicked, because of how lost she actually was. She was also a little bit annoyed with herself that she had to try and clean those things without getting a map first. And she had just wondered off on her own too at that. “Ah, sorry, sorry… excuse me,” Madelynn walked through the crowd, apologizing the entire time. She wondered if she’d be able to find one of her tent mates in this crowd. Probably not, that would be too lucky.
Then, Madelynn saw another spot to clean. “No, you have to… find… your way back… to the…” Madelynn started, but before she knew it she had started cleaning. She sighed, slightly annoyed with herself. She looked around occasionally, as if she was doing something against the rules. She just really did not like to get noticed or seen at all. It took her about an hour before she finally managed to scrub off the dirt from an object she had found. She looked satisfied, but was covered in dirt. She didn’t notice that herself though.
She decided that she wanted to try and find one of her tent mates now. However, she had no idea where to start. Then, she suddenly felt stinging in her foot and a face got bumped into hers. She rubbed her head, not sure what had just happened. Then she noticed that it was… ONE OF HER TENT MATES!!! She was so relieved. She heard his apology, but she wasn’t upset at him at all. Though she was panicking slightly on what to say.
She had to say something… now! She decided she wanted to introduce herself. “H-hello… I-“ but she got distracted mid-sentence. “I’m a roasted potato!” She said as if that made sense. Then she realized what she said and her head got red. “N-no that’s not… not what I meant… I’m… M-Madelynn… just- not a roasted potato…” she said, quietly and embarrassed. This was NOT the impression she had wanted to make on her tent mate.

Luckily for Madelynn, or perhaps unlucky for both, Nick was just as awkward. Being completely inept for socializing, it was rather easy to get jumbled as well.
Not only that but, the boy was already rather frazzled today. He had walked a lot, been lost for the past hour or so, and by Merlin himself, he had more sugar in his organism than a entire candy shop would have in it's stock for the week! The half eaten candied apple in his hand was the unaltered proof of it.
"Hi- Hello! Hi!" He blurted quickly, before he cleaned his throat, he has a piece of candied apple in throat he was pretty sure.
"I thought you had ran off! I didn't see you! Sorry I didn't even say hello, and we staying on the same tent!" He laughed awkwardly, still grasping all the different snacks in his arms. "I didn't even get to introduce myself to you! My dad would freak out if he knew how impolite I was! I'm Nicholas!"
Then he blinked and cleaned his throat again before he smiled at her. "I mean, just Nick, or Nicky not- Not Nicholas, just just Nick or Nicky it's fine. Nicholas is really formal. Anyway hi! Nice to meet you, what's your name?"

Madelynn looked at the boy, he was just as awkward as she was! It put her at ease a bit and she smiled a little. She looked him up and down with her eyes and noticed he was holding a lot of snacks. Her stomach rumbled slightly as she was hungry. She had been cleaning all day. She looked at his snacks, her eyes big like a puppy looking at a toy.
Though she tried to snap out of it. She looked at the boy his face again as he introduced himself as Nicholas. “It’s nice to meet you, Nick,” she said softly. Though in the corner of her eye she kept glancing at the food. She didn’t expect Nicholas to give her any, she just had noticed how extremely hungry she was. “Madelynn…” she said when Nicholas asked for her name again. Her face slightly lit red as she wasn’t used to talking to people.
She then saw something, a pile of dirt people would maybe fall over. “I- I will be right back” she said softly and she ran to the pile of dirt. She started cleaning it with care. Though this was a very messy job and before she knew it she was covered with mud. She didn’t mind though. She cleaned and cleaned. She just really wanted to help the camp staff by doing this.
But then it started raining. People were fleeing and Madelynn went back to Nicholas. Luckily she hadn’t gone too far away from him. She wanted to suggest to go back inside, but then she saw something. It was a stuffed animal, has someone lost that? She looked at the boy with a pleading look to go look for the owner with her. She didn’t want anyone to be without their stuffed animal after all. Her stomach was still rumbling, she was covered in mud and soaked, but that didn’t matter to her. All that mattered was the person getting back their stuffed animal.
Though she tried to snap out of it. She looked at the boy his face again as he introduced himself as Nicholas. “It’s nice to meet you, Nick,” she said softly.
