With only a month left until the start of his first year at Hogwarts, it was finally time to get some much needed school shopping done. With his parents busy at work for the day Leo was stuck going around the different shops in Diagon Alley with his older brother and sister, Max and Maya. This was one of the last days he would actually get to spend with his sister before she goes off traveling so he was excited to have at least some fun with her before she left. Max, on the other hand, he was less excited about since he was basically getting to be as bad as their father, strict on him and super focused on becoming an auror too. But today Leo was determined to not let anything bother him, no, today he was going to focus on himself and getting all his school supplies.
The trio made their way around the shops to gather the supplies he needed. Luckily he was able to use his sister’s old books instead of buying new ones but he still needed to gather the clothes and other supplies on the list. But the most exciting part of the whole day was the trip to the world famous Ollivanders. After watching the twins both get their wands before their first year, Leo was excited for it to finally be his turn. While his brother had stopped by the apothecary shop, his sister Maya stopped by the magical menagerie store, leaving him all alone. ‘Alright Leo, you can do this.’ He thought to himself as he slowly turned the knob to go inside.
“Hello?” He said softly as he entered the shop and walked up to the counter. There was no one around at the moment so Leo took the opportunity to look at the shelves filled to the brim with boxes of wands. There was so many to choose from but which would be the one for him?
Sliding out from the back on a rolling ladder was an older gentleman. “Hello, young man,” He climbed down from the ladder and made his way to stand behind the counter. “What can I help you with? Wait, let me guess, you’re here for your first wand?”
Leo nodded and smiled shyly, “Yes sir.”
“Well let’s see if we can find a good match for you, shall we?” The man said and came out from behind the counter and over to the shelves to the left of Leo. He pulled out a couple of boxes and placed them down on the counter, opening one up and handing it to Leo. “Give it a wave,” He instructed and Leo did just that, nothing. “Interesting, maybe this one..” He opened another box and had Leo try again but this time papers went flying around the room. “Definitely not,” The man tapped his chin as he looked around the room. Leo was starting to feel like he would be here all day with how this was going so far. “Ahh! I have the perfect one.” He climbed up onto the ladder and pulled a box down, opening it up towards Leo for him to take the wand. This time when he gave the wand a wave a bright light shown out from the tip and he almost could feel the magic spread throughout his body. “Another perfect match!” The man grinned and went back behind the counter.
Maya came in through the doors, smiling as she wrapped her arm around her younger brother. “Did you find a good wand?” She looked down at the wand in his hand and then back up at the store owner to greet him with a nod.
Leo nodded and placed the wand back in its box to keep it safe, “Yes! One step closer to heading to school.” He smiled as he held the box close to him. “Let’s go find Max and head home.” Leo and Maya said their goodbyes to the shop owner and headed back out.
