Hazel stared up at the doors. Hogwarts. It was a dance that they were having where they invited students from all over the magical schools. She was excited since at Ilvermony, the school that she went to in America, didn’t have as many fancy balls as the ones in Europe and Greater Britain did. She worried about what to wear and panicked for a moment before choosing a plain yet elegant white dress with a large silk bow in the back. She wore shiny black boots with a bit of a heel to them. She briefly thought about grabbing her other pair of shoes but decided that it was better to be prepared for anything. And besides, these ones were a lot more comfortable. She walked in. The inside was as impressive as the out. She was surrounded by students of all types from everywhere. After a while though, she started to feel bored. Balls weren’t that much fun when you didn’t know anybody. She tried to start some small talk with some Hogwarts students, but that hadn’t really gone that well. It seemed like everyone here already had ether own little clique to talk to and she was just the odd one out. Then though, she heard murmurs of the older students next to her planning to do something. She leaned in. They were planning on going to the Forbidden Forest! One of them saw her and asked if she wanted to tag along. The kid had a crazy glint in his eye. She grinned. Now this was getting good, she thought. She decided right then and there to slip out and follow them. She came for adventure and she was getting it. She followed them out, careful to not step on any toes. Then she ran. They were all hooting and she hooted along with them. They entered the woods. As soon as she crossed it though, she got lost. The older kids had already disappeared to who-knows-where. She walked, feeling the weight of her decision upon her. Maybe this wasn’t such good idea after all. Maybe she shouldn’t have followed them. All the bravado that she had at first left her. Then, the worst possible thing happened. She ran into a troll. Literally. She fell backwards, her face contorting into a scream. The troll looked down at her. Its head was tiny she noted absently. It swung its wooden club at her na she dodged out of the way. There was only one thing to do now. She ran. She ran faster than she ever thought was possible. The troll seemed confused for a moment before it started to clomp after her. She ran all the way back to where the group of older kids she had followed. She screamed one word at them. "TROLL!" They all screamed and ran back to the ball. She was at their heels. They ran inside. The troll couldn't get inside thankfully. She sneaked a look back through window. The troll looked confused before it slowly walked back into the woods. "Woah." Breathed one of the older kids. The same one that invited her along. "That was gnarly."
She laughed. That was one of the most harrowing experiences in her life.
